Welcome Jesenjin and Jonathan ~
Afternoon all,
This my first post...Er...On anything really.
I've been lurking in the background for the last few weeks since I fell upon this usefull and well run forum, and thought it was a little rude of me not to join in and say hello.
So, hello to all, and congratulations for making it to Wednesday night.
I'll explain how I got here, for anyone who's interested...
I've been studying Medieval History as a hobby for the last few years and whilst in google, chanced upon Frogbeastegg's beginners guide to MTW, thinking it was a essay in Medieval combat which I could use as more source materiel.
The stats and graphics in the guide soon told me that the subject was, infact, a game...
I looked further into it and quickly appreciated the efforts made to make the game as realistic as possible.
Who'd have thought Sun Tzu's Art of war could be an inspiration to a computer game?!
It dawned on me that I had to stop all my web browsing at work and actualy buy a PC to play this game...
I've never played any of the MTW seires, as I'm waiting for MTW2 to be released (trying to get the demo to work led me here), so I'll hope to contribute to this forum in the historical sense.
Feel free to ask my opinion on the subject, and I'll try to include my sources for reference, if possible.
Still cant play the demo though...but where theres a will, eh?
Thanks
Sr JH
Hello Sir Hawkwood,
Nice first post, and enjoy your stay here at the .org.
On a side note, what exactly is your problem with the demo ?
:balloon2:
Hoi, en dank Je, Dutch Guy,
Well, despite having all the requirements in terms of Radedon 9550 graphics card, a 939 socket AMD processor (according to Wiki), enough RAM, correct drivers, and multiple downloads and re-installations of the demo, I still get a
"medieval2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." reply...
I'm more patient than technical, so understand the cause to be either;
1, the phase of the moon
2, high voltage power lines
3, Microsoft
I understand that this is the wrong thread to air these problems, but, as your here, any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Sr JH

To KING LEONIDAS, Jesenjin, Jnthnblr, & Sir_Hawkwood: Welcome to the Org, all of you. Hope you enjoy your stay!
First post, testing volume....
Is this thing on ? Ok then...
- Hello everybody ! Nice forum you got here. Polite atmosphere, timely news and expert opinions. I first found the Org a few years ago, while looking for info to decide whether to buy Rome (I didn't due to negative feeling of the community towards it). I had some previous experience with MTW and I liked the general idea of the TW games so I continued to keep an eye on these forums, mostly to check for the next game in the series. The relatively good reviews that appeared lately (especially the AI's seemingly succesfull brain surgery) convinced me to (1) buy the game (2) join the forum ... so here I am.
Good luck everybody and keep your fingers crossed until release day.
Hello Ars Moriendi,
Welcome and enjoy your stay here.
You tried the other Totalwar titles STW, WE, MTW and or VI?
Welcome, Ars Moriendi. ~
Welcome everyone.

Also, my decision not to buy RTW wasn't based solely on the .org opinions - I did play the game - a couple weeks, a few short campaigns (borrowed from friend) but it only confirmed what I've heard here : too fast, too shallow and buggy as hell (it was the 1.0 unpatched version I think). Another reason for not buying was the lack of a broadband internet connection at the time, so 100megs paches + 50megs mods to make the game playable was out of the question for me.
So I just kept watching the news and the community hoping that the gameplay of MTW will return, making the game worth my money.
Oh, and thanks for the warm welcome, guys.
Hello again,Quote:

If it does, obviously, we'd like to know. The only thing I can come up with now, is that your download was corrupted. You'd best get rid of this version, and download it again. If that doesn't help - report back here. Or in a desiognated forum at the org. If you have the posting access that is.
Oh and Caius, he knows this isn't the right thread, it's written in his post...
:balloon2:
Sorry.I'm not going to do that again.
There is a thread in the M2:TW forum containing the problem.
Welcome Ars Moriendi and Sir Hawkwood (who apparently speaks Dutch, wel wel, zou het een Belg of een Nederlander zijn?) !~
Afternoon gents,
What a well run and welcoming forum you have here!
Its rather like walking into a pub for the first time and having a space cleared for you by the fire..
I've spent the last few days playing the gold version of the demo, and had great fun defending against the Aztecs using the methods described by Frogbeastegg.
Andres,
I'm from all four parts of the UK, and born and raised in England. My understanding of Dutch could be ranked between poor and dire...
I'm fluent enough to declare war on anyone who restricts the import of Duvel or Leffe!
Welcome to all!

Welcome H, Historian of Beers, good lol :-),Welcome m8!!
Lo, there.
Casper's my name, and I got the MTW for my BD a few weeks ago. Used to play Shogun (back in the days), but I've never really in been interested in Japan, so I reckoned a European version of STW had to rock (and it did). Always been interested in history, though.
I'm part Finnish, part Swedish (although I hardly speak a single word of Finnish), and I'm not a catholic, I just find the name Innocentius pretty funny.
Well, that's pretty much all there is to say that is of any interest.
Welcome Casper/Innocentius ~
Welcome ~:).
Welcome all.
Welcome new members!
Welcome to the Org, Innocentius. ~

Welcome to all the new members! ~
Are you talking about uploading a custom avatar? Because the Org doesn't support that feature.Quote:

Hi, im Eques, from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
I played a lot of MP games on MTW days and i really miss those days. Use to play with my New Zealand partner, get beated by a friend from Holand (that bloody spanish cavalry allways kicked my gothic knights ), also use to hate Alan cavalry (cant forget them!!!), teach commands to a spanish friend ;) and play all night long...
I hope medieval 2 brings those days back.
Hello Eques to the .org!
Welcome Eques ~ :jumping:
Hi there,
writing from an old mining town in Sweden... winter has come with snow, cold winds and darkness. That will probably stay until March next year... so I joined in trying to warm upp my hands... anyway I am very good at screwing things upp... so I have already managed to purge my avatar(I used the no avatar option and pressed save changes) don't ask why... and I have no idea how to get a new one???
i join last month i have been playing the total war series for 2 years. i join org cause it look like a sick site and cause i got banned on twc but this site a lot better anyway
Welcome shizzernockers3 and Feodian ~
Feodian, try "edit profile" or "edit avatar". If this doesn't help, pm one of the mods.

Welcome to .org guys :-)
Welcome to the Org, everyone! May your days be long and prosperous here. ~
For those who are having trouble with their avatars, make sure you first follow AndresTheCunning's directions--that should solve the problem for most of you. If you still can't get your avatar to appear, however, then feel free to PM the moderators here; they're all listed at the bottom of the Entrance Hall page.
Note: If you do contact the mods, please keep in mind that it could be a day or two (or three!) before one of them gets back to you. The moderators and admins here are very talented and dedicated people; but they're also often busy, and may not have a chance to help you out immediately. So we kindly ask for--and appreciate--your patience. ~:)

As AndresTheCunning and Caius Flaminius have already pointed out, just be a good citizen, and you should be promoted to full membership in a couple weeks. ~:)
The message on the top telling me to introduce myself is bothering me, so I decided to post here.
I've been lurking since the release of RTW, but I also have MTW and VI. It's good to be registered!
(finally the message will be gone)
Welcome Molinaarg and Master (Hey m8!!)

Thanks to you both. The only thing that surprised me is that jp only has 36 posts... He usually manages that in an hour. Of course, they tend to be full of smilies. I am genuinely pleased he is aware of the keyboard...:fainting:
Good gosh, look who it is. It's a ghost from my past life come back to haunt me!
Hopefully not a ghost... Now our relationship is somewhat different here, I guess... I still adore you as my first born :)
Not a ghost, perhaps an apparition (Jp, on the other hand, happens to be one of those ghosts who is more of a minor nuisance: moving the jam jar and so on). ;~)
Here, however, we are all equals under the benevolent rulership of our dear lord Tosa Inu.
And who on earth is Tosa Inu? He sounds lie a local deity.
Some say he is God Himself incarnate in his virtual form. Others believe that he is a machine, invented by a brilliant, but mad Professor living somewhere in the Netherlands, whereas a few are adamant that he is infact the Grand Master of the Free Masons, ready to brainwash the members of this forum to do his bidding and thus setting in motion his world conquest. All we know, is that he's called the Forum Admin.
welcome imb39 ~
Tosa Thingy is the Scourge of Doth Orgus, The Killer of the Freedom of Speech :hide:
And worst of all: he's Dutch
But one day Belgian Superiority will rule these lands ~ Exactly, this way: ~
If you would excuse me now, I need my daily valium-treatment :nurse:
