Re: Peasants and highland rabble
I hate peasants. Second only to merchant cavalry militia, peasants are one unit I would rather disband than bring to battle with their betters. I hate town militia too, but I'd rather use them for a base garrison unit than peasants because they're freebies in cities and just as cheap as peasants in castles.
Peasant archers, on the other hand, I love. And spear militia.
I hate seeing peasants in AI armies too, because it feels cheesy to make them rout and see the real soldiers around them lose morale because of it. Fought a battle once against a stack and a half of Sicilians who had about 200 Norman Knights fighting side by side with 500 peasants, who routed on contact with my cavalry and caused all those knights to run away too. Sad, sad, sad. :shame:

In My opinion the peasants seem to be much better than the ones in RTW, especially after you give them an upgrade and after they earn their first chevron. I've used them fairly effectivally early on since they bring numbers to the field and can pin a unit in place long enough for a flanking move. As for garrisons I prefer a couple units a of levy spearmen and a couple units of archers (although they are "peasant" archers) incase some brigands happen to pop up that need to be taken care of.

It's funniest member in 2008, or bust. I need some bling for gods sake. If I don't win next year, I swear I will spend hours thinking of a joke for every single post.

I didnt realise Elephants genitilia had anything to do with peasants, or perhaps it does.....
Anyway i would even think of using peasants later on, 500 or so dismounted feudal knights slaughtered 2700 peasants, you dont see that happening everyday, and not to mention the knights were surrounded and pciked off, they came out with around 80 men left:inquisitive:
