A corrupt guy jumping bail to another country is the exact same thing.
Errrrr...jumping bail is failing to appear , this was a breach of bail conditions but was in no way jumping bail .
All this was is a case of an idiot doing something that he shouldn't when a simple action by himself would have meant the issue didn't become a legal escalation .
Try again Tuff .

Yes he is a prick and a politician , plus he is one hell of an idiot .(actually all them words go together quite well don't they)
But he didn't "jump bail" and he is getting punished in accordance with the law , and this jailing is for his own stupidity when he could have taken easy measures that would have prevented him being in breach of his bail conditions and still allowed on his trip across the border .

You want to rely on a sloppy journalists attention grabbing headline for a legal definition :laugh4::laugh4::laugh4:
You reaslly should choose your ideas more carefully .
Re: Huzzah for the Great City of Detroit

It allows the accused person to remain free pending the final decision on his/her criminal case.
In some circumstances a criminal defendant can be declared to have jumped bail even before missing an appearance in court, if it is discovered he/she has left the state, the country, disappeared or made plans to flee. At that point the court can revoke the bail and issue a warrant for the defendant's arrest. It is also called "skipping" bail.

Oh and just for xiahou who doesn't understand.
Quote:
BAIL JUMPING - 18 USC 3146, makes it a Federal crime or offense for anyone who has been released on bail to thereafter willfully fail to appear when required to do so.
A person can be found guilty of that offense only if all of the following facts are proved:
First: That the person had been admitted to bail pursuant to an order of a Judge or Magistrate of a Court with proper juridiction;
Second: That the person thereafter failed to appear before a Judge or Magistrate of a Court with proper juridiction as required; and
Third: That the person did so knowingly and willfully.
Pretty clear there isn't it .
Or would you like it in bigger letters ?:laugh4::laugh4::laugh4:
