Yes sir. I have 4 GB RAM, AMD X2 3,06 GHZ and XFX 8800 GTS 640 MB. But that barely manages MTW2 on highest settings in the larger battles. Im thinking of replacing my RAM for better ones, buying a new GPU 9800-series and maybe getting one of those 10,000 RPM HDD
I refuse to get kicked out of the illusion when some text before an epic battle says "One ore more armies have been delayed and will not participate in the battle. Try upgrading your GPU".
Re: ETW System Requirements
I'm playing MTW2 on highest res. and graphics with a 2.53 dual-core wolfdale, 2 GB gskill RAM (1066), evga 8800GT, and a seagate 7,200 rpm hard drive. So hopefully my system will handle ETW at the higher settings...

Don't buy the 9800 series. Nvidia really messed up in naming the 9000 series. Essentially, the 9800GTS would be the same as the 8800GTS, but overclocked, which you can do easily as long as you are careful about temperature and stability.
A better upgrade would be to their new GTX 260 or GTX 280

Well, yes, so does mine. What I am saying is that when the larger battles occur, with more than 10,000 units on screen, it gets laggy. But I only had the opportunity to this problem when I was surrounded by the vast armies of the mongols. And when playing online with massive armies, ofcourse.

Possibly. Hopefully the GTX 260 and 280 will suffer from a rather severe price drop until February. The difference between my GPU, 8800 GTS 640 MB and the GTX 260? Is it worth it? It seems to me that the hardware is far more advanced than the software which uses it nowadays. My two year old GPU handles Crysis, Far Cry 2, etc without any serious problems.

I wasn't trying to discredit you... I've never attempted to put more than 10k units on a screen,
As far as the 9800 series goes, it was a HUGE upgrade from my 7600gt. The only reason I purchased the 9800gt over the 8800gt is because the 9800gt was on sale for $99 at newegg.com. Hard to beat that price!!! If the gtx 260 or 280 ever get that cheap I'll buy them instead!

Yeah, it won't be a tremendous upgrade, but it would be enough so that it is noticeable.
I would recommend that you wait since the 8800 GTS should run ETW with no problems. Don't upgrade your GPU until the next generation of cards come out so you can either get a much greater upgrade or the GTX 260/280 will be alot cheaper

No kidding. The 9800gt was selling for $250 when it came out in the spring. Now it's only $99 on newegg.com!

Hm. Does anyone know when the next generation of GPUs will come out?
Re: ETW System Requirements
The next line of the Nvidia GPUs would be the GTX 270/290 which are essentially the same as the GTX 260/280, but with a die shrink. I think it would be out around November 2009 since the 260/280s were only released over the summer. Waiting would still help since the GTX 280 already fell by like $250 since its launch
Currently, the best powerhouse out there is the Radeon 4870 X2 which is available for desktops and should be available on laptops in a few months.
Re: ETW System Requirements
guys with 1 gig of ram or less just get more. 1 gig of ram is cheaper then the freaking game.
Anyways I recommend you should be looking at least getting a dual core CPU for this game.

:laugh4: Heh heh, my new laptop's gonna pwn Empires soooo bad! Yay! Have fun, ye rascals who're fruitlessly attempting to up ur comp!
:clown:
Re: ETW System Requirements
This is not required, if you plan to do future gaming sure, but this will doubtfully be a requirment for ETW, MTW2 worked fine without dual core, and as devs have stated multiple time, ETW has similiar requirments do to same engine.
Re: ETW System Requirements
Well they also said they are making it more multi threaded.

Um no laptop today is nearly as fast as a comparable cost desktop. Also laptops are generally more expensive and if you have a high end gaming laptop you only have a few hours of battery life anyways so it is kinda pointless. A $1000 desktop will smoke a $1000 laptop. A $2000 desktop will pwn any laptop ever made, even the $6000 ones.

I didn't say that laptops were. I merely stated my laptop will KILL empires with ease! Besides, I use a cord, rather than rely solely on the battery. :egypt:

Clealry someone has never owned a laptop. Unless you are traveling you can plug your labtop into the wall same as a pc, but instead of 1903085 wires, you just have the one, or I do anyway.
Gaming labtops are also not nearly that expensive, yea you can get a alienware labtop but you can also get a alienware pc and either way you'd spend high dollar for pretty lights.
You can get a decent gaming labtop for same price as a decent gaming pc with similiar if not identical specs. Just have to know where to look.
That said, I stick with what I said, there is no reason this game would require dual core, multi threaded or otherwise. It may be recommended tho but i'm pretty sure you can run this game on a average system/ low end system because that's been TW's history.
Yes the techno ppl would love if it required a quad core 8 gig graphics card of doom requirement so only hard core players could play it, but in reality devs try to get the most players to buy a game not the least lol
Re: ETW System Requirements
If the developers make ETW like MTW2, then the system requirements will cater to all types of pc owners. I had a P4 with a nvidia 7600gt for my first pc which could handle MTW2 at medium graphics, medium resolutions. I now have a e7200 wolfdale (2.53 dual-core) and an evga 9800gt and I can run the game at max graphics, max resolution no problems. In all honesty, as much as I like having better graphics, MTW2 was still awesome to play with the older gpu!
