Re: Help newbie
Thanks for the replies. some good info there.
I have a problem though: Why can't I recruit and build in my cities? The options are greyed out.
-I have a family member as governor
-I have plenty of money
-Its not automatically managed
The army isn't full as far as I'm aware
What's going on?
cheers

Re: Help newbie
The population might not be high enough to recruit any more units in that city, or you might have to wait a few turns to make that unit available.

Re: Help newbie
You can download the complete manual here. If you look around the site you can also find maps and manuals for the expansion packs as well.

Re: Help newbie
killing phalanxes and macedonians is rather easy. post-marian rome has urban cohorts, which run right through the spears and slaughter phalanxes. otherwise, you can usually order your units to run PAST your enemy, and they run right through the spears. once theyre past the spears, make them attack and slaughter the phalanxes. Spartans, you need to pin them with infantry, take your heaviest cavalry, and smash into the spartans from both sides. This might take several manuevers but it pays off in the end. To fight elephants, take some light cavalry and have the elephants chase that. Then make the elephants run in circles while being shot at with artillery/fire arrows. since i have 5-10 archers in my armies, the elephants run amok very easily and destroy the enemy army for you.

Re: Help newbie
Are you using automanagement? If you do so, tell us so we tell you how to change that.

Re: Help newbie
He says he is not using auto-management and I believe it is the problem Mek Simmur stated about a low population.
