Re : Games You're Looking Forward to
An Eternal Darkness : Sanity's Requiem sequel would be most welcome btw.
The lead designer keeps saying "Yes, absolutely yes", but we never get any news. Please Silicon Knights, it still is one of my favorite game ever, and the only decent game in a lovercraftian setting released in the last decade.
That's mean, given that there was a fake trailer about an Eternal Darkness : Sanity's Redemption in the game at some point.

Re: Games You're Looking Forward to
PennyArcade just alerted me to Blood Bowl, scheduled for Q2 2009. Both turn-based and real-time play styles. Officially licenced as a result of the Chaos League incident. :2thumbsup:
Something to play when the NFL season ends, and it's not connected with EA. :medievalcheers:

Got the demo for F.E.A.R. 2 on Steam yesterday (took 5 hours to d/l & install).
The first one wouldn't run on my Alienware laptop. Wanna see if this one runs on my updated desktop.
Will report later today.

Woot, if it's half as funny as Chaos League, it will be a nice game. Just hope there won't be any starforce or crap like that.

The demo works OK on this machine*. On clicking "Play" the game apparently checks for system performance, and presumeably adjusts settings. I played through what I guess is about half of the demo.
I didn't realize that Warner Bros. produced this. It's quite cinematic. In the demo, you're introduced to Alma, and you find yourself the lone survivor of a chopper crash. A little ways in front of you is a fiery hole in the street. No way around it, you take a leap of faith and jump, landing you in an elementary school hallway, weaponless. You see an armed guy (dead), and pick up a subMG & ammo, and commence shooting at anything that moves (I hesitated at first, thinking those might be my buddies, but no). You get tooltips the first couple of minutes, and you're shooting at humans/quasi-humans. Then the wraiths start coming. Shooting them seems to make them leave you alone.
Checking every room, and picking up ammo & weapons, you finally get "outdoors", only to get crushed by a bus. Haha! I think there's more, and I'll play thru (on "Easy"). The graphics are good to excellent, the search corridors & hallways are distinctive enough that I didn't have to re-trace steps often, and I got just enough encouragement (static-y radio traffic from my buddies), to maintain interest in moving ahead.

Re: Games You're Looking Forward to
The demo worked fine on my system (PS3 ~D ) and yes, there is more after the bus.
It seems quite neat although I'm not really convinced either.
Re: Games You're Looking Forward to
Just saw the trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, CG is overwhelming. It looks a lot like it's going to be one of those cinematic games, hell, I thought it was blizzard behind this visually dazzling trailer. The graphics look very convincing, lets hope it won't disappoint.

Say hussy, do you play COD 5? If so add me I use the same name I use here.
Re: Games You're Looking Forward to
More or less just SC2, D3, DA and RE5.
Funny thing about SC2 is that I got the pre-order as a birthday present in 2007 (when it was due for release early 2008) and now its delayed till Sept 2009 :laugh4:
Re: Games You're Looking Forward to
Can't believe I forgot Dragon Age. What I've heard and seen of that game so far looks great. :2thumbsup:
That one will be a guaranteed buy- if they don't make a mess of the DRM this time. :stare: :sweatdrop:
Re: Games You're Looking Forward to
Although I'm literally wetting my pants in anticipation for ETW, I am rather suprised none of you have mentioned....
Hearts of Iron 3!
Re: Games You're Looking Forward to
Just (re)discovered a game that had completely slipped my mind: LIT
It's coming out on Wiiware this Monday. For only $8, it seems like a must-buy.
Re: Games You're Looking Forward to
Something that caught my eye while watching some ETW videos was
The East India Company.
It isn’t out yet naturally. I guess I would describe what I saw as a kind of ETW in the far east.
http://www.eic-game.com/ I don’t know what the combat system is but it is interesting and perhaps more in-depth in areas than a TW game.

Oh, I forgot about that. I thought it was more focused on controlling an individual ship, more like a trade game similar to Patrician 3 or so but I'll try to keep an eye on it either way.
