Re: Romani: Too many mercs to choose from?
no, that's still on my list^^ they still have those enormous panda armies which flood against my border outposts. but a agoge friend of this exiled FM had lead a Pillage party down the red sea and now every enemy port(I'm not at war with casse and sweboz and allied with saba and Baktria) is either destroyed or blockaded^^. that too was a major investment, but paid off quite well.
PS: oh and Time has passed since 272
Re: Romani: Too many mercs to choose from?
But if you don't own a province bordering the Indian ocean, then how did you sail to Persepolis?
Re: Romani: Too many mercs to choose from?
Through the channel between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea of course...
Yes, there was a channel back then.
Re: Romani: Too many mercs to choose from?
sadly it was blocked most of the time :( because vast Leisteron fleets blockaded the lower port and i could not attack them XD unitill i destroyed both ports :D
Re: Romani: Too many mercs to choose from?
I never realized that ships could pass through it!
But then again, I never played the Ptolemies, and I quit my Saba campaign before I could achieve naval superiority.

The route represented in EB is Darius' Canal, which was a east-west canal from one of the Nile's Delta divisions (vs. the north-south Suez Canal further to the east). It required portage at points and wasn't a true canal all the way through. It was also rarely in opperation.
