Because I am not the only one having this trouble I believe. I plan to listen to people's impressions and see if anyone has stability problems like mine.

GAH! my computer stopped working just now! That means I'll probably have it back in a little over a week....which means.....no ETW on release.........GAH!
Ouch! wow, talk about poor luck.
I know what it's like when you can't get a game to run or it freezes the PC all the time, it's drives me mad..mad.. mad I tell you !
and you end up with lots of late nights and hair pulling, and when you finally go to bed..you can't sleep!
It would be a good idea for all those that can't run the Demo to have a thread to share computer specs to find a common denominator that might cause the probs ?
Anyway anyone with Demo probs should be allowed to shout, moan, insult, and yes slander, because when they get the game and it runs fine they will love CA again, and life will be good !
I'm running the demo on a 2.4 duo 4meg ram and a 8800GT and have the visuals pretty much maxed out, and have had no problems what so ever with any aspect of the demo.
Only just realised that ETW is out on Wed, not Fri as is the norm in the UK !! DOH !! thought it was going to be a long long week, but now it's only a few dozen hours away.....
Good luck to Vuk and all who've had problems with the demo, hope the game runs great for you all.
2 1/2 days till it arrives... This is going to be painfull
15gb = 15 hours at about 450-500 kB/ps
I knew what I was getting into when I bought off of steam, trust me I know! :sweatdrop:
Luckily, Monday and Tuesday will be spent mostly in class and preparing for the final stretch before Finals, so I will have my hands full with that. It all comes together quite nicely if I do say so myself!
Besides, maybe now I will get some work done if my internets are clogged with steam downloading ETW and not spend excessive amounts of time spamming refresh to see if there's been any more news. :wall:
So that would be more like 25 hours at the ~300 kb/s I usually get ... I hope they'd compress it slightly. You know maybe the 15GB is the final install size.
You have finals in March?
That 15gb interested me, maybe thats for the install? The game may only be 9gb, games ask for like 3gb of space during install when they are less than 1gb.
So you're not buying the game if the animations aren't better than in the demo? I had fun playing the demo and that's why I'm buying the game. Sometimes I get the feeling that people obsess over "bugs" to the point of interfering w/ the point of the game, which is to have fun and dominate your friends online.
I remember when I played Risk and we used plastic counters to represent units. I remember Age of Empires 1 when a man was a black dot for hair, a flesh dot for head, and make shift couple of dots to represent the body.
Those games sucked totally, because they had no animations. :furious3:
I think developers should stop focusing on game play and fun-factor and more on the insignificant details.
Your sarcasm would be hard to decipher for foreign members.
Lol,
Well only 1 day left now before it's released in the states and normal edition.
So much excitment in the air. :2thumbsup:
I don't get it till the 7th as previously stated, but I won't online the 5th or 6th so it's all good. I'll be curious to hear replies on 3rd and 4th, assuming everyone actually logins in long enough to stop playing the game:laugh4:
It shouldn't do, as my post was meant to be absurd. :beam:
I have to admit, what is really thrilling me for this game, is the AI on the strategy mode. I want to see real diplomatic relations with the other nations, and proper trades and the whole political semantics of it all.
Its nice that release day coincides with the due date of a serious school project of mine, so I will be completely clear to waste the day!
Yea even though the game won't come to me till saturday (a work day for me) I feel a sick day coming on *Cough, cough* :laugh4:
Lol,
You'll learn when you work 54-60 hours a week people rarely care about the occassional sick day. It's only when you work 40 hours a week and take vaca all the time that they care :2thumbsup:
What I expect to happen is on the evening of the 3rd there are a flurry of posts saying I got it! Its so cool!:2thumbsup:
Followed next day by three people complaining about killer bugs no one else can find. Then in about a week we get a few AARs…
Of course if the game is really, really good, uh, I may be MIA for a while…
:beam:
Haha, actually one full day I may go at it but that would be it. Total war games are usually best cause I can play them in short evening games night, after night, for years of enjoyment. I assume ETW follows suit.
The 3rd sure, everyone will flurry to play it and some people will want to try everything right away. As for me on they 7th night i'll play it, probably the 8th enjoy it. The 9th though i'll probably be back to posting AAR's with screens and videos and new ideas :)
I know it sounds a bit silly but I'm really excited about this release. ( I have just checked my account with Play.com and it says that it is in Packing ..wooohoo :) )
I don't normally pre-order anything but I can't wait to see those timbers fly in the naval battles :)I'm not a big fan of demos as they are always really buggy. I'm sure it will be very stable when released. (at least for most gamers)
....Not long now :D
For those of you getting it tommorrow I am glad :)
I will be eager to here all kinds of cool game reports.
I've booked friday off work, they all laughed when i explained why
