As for heritage, it's solely up to Antigonos as to who is chosen as the legitimate Heir. Right now, Krateros, Antigonos' brother, is set as Heir. The person who takes Antigonos may decide to change that at will. In any case, the final word belongs to the Synedrion. Each person who believes he is good enough to be the next Basileus, aside the set Heir, will present himself to the Synedrion and they will decide to whom they will give their "vote of trust". This basically means you, or anyone who claims the throne, will have to persuade us (the Synedrion) in order to vote for you.

I realise I am only a part of a bigger whole, but that doesnt mean I can't do anythign I can to increase my power and to obstruct anyone's char (eg: Bean) to do the same. That's just roleplaying.
If I decide to sabotage Bean in any way I can while disregarding the fact that the empire is crumbling, that's my own decision.
If I succeed within the limits of the rules of the game, I haven't done anything unfair or wrong :)
(PS: I'm not saying I'll be doing anything of the above by principle, just stating I could if I wanted to)
By no means i meant that I MYSELF (as in the real life me) DEMAND to be made heir :)
I'm just saying that if my char doesn't, I'll roleplay him getting pissed for not being the heir ;)
If I was son on a king, and didn't become king upon papa's passing away, I'd be pissed aswel.

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
Yet again, I don't disagree with any you say. But then again, I think you understand what I mean. At least reserve your anger or plots until we're relieved from Pyrrhos :sweatdrop:

Maybe... Maybe not :p
I do love a little mischief ;-)
Hope we're kicking off soon :)

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
Why's it always me? Is this because I annoyed you in BtSH? :sweatdrop:
-
Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
You haven't annoyed me, and if I gave you that expression I apologize..
Just wanted to poke you a bit :p
Btw, magna carta is about to begin ;)
-
Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
it seems everyone (else, who is not me) has started choosing, and Maion says there's no order in choosing now. so I'm still sticking with Kalos Argeades, and I'll take my time to read the rest of the topic which I have not read yet and edit this post about what I have to say about what's being discussed here
edit: never mind, nothing to say

Bah, I shall need to begin collecting some nice people to tackle your evil plans. Everyone should help me (yeah, work that out!).
And about Magna Carta, I won't be particularly active, no where near as much as on BtSH, because I'm on my study leave over Easter, then two more weeks of school before 2 more weeks of study leave, then exams, and on top of that lots of sport and fitness training because I have lots of Ten Tors walks, with the event a week before my first exams. So you may have to be a little patient, until the exams are over. Then I get completely free reign over my time :2thumbsup:.

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
I'm not saying I harbour anyevil plans towards you.
But most PBM's here seem to be lacking 'evil' chars.
So I'm just filling the empty space (with pleasure)

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
P'raps Maion should play out the 1st 10 turns in an RPing-fashion (e.g. instead of blitzing), so that we get a partially-developing empire/large kingdom where things are running rather smoothly to start play and eventually destroy it with our uselss bickering so that we have some base to start on, rather than starting in a perilous position where we might get wiped out if we don't cooperate (which is bad for RP means) and we'll be bankrupt (unless add_money for the character's "salaries" is used).
that's what I'm thinking if in the future I start a PBM, to play a few turns of it and sort out the mess you start in. but unfortunately I have no imagination and can't think of a whole new system of play (as of now), and for which faction.

We will, as soon as everyone picks an avatar.

Well, we'll try and see how this works first. I don't think we'll have any problems though, especially if someone has some experience with phalanx armies. For example, I usually defeat Pyrrhos with Alkyoneus when I play (if he besieges Pella). Then it's a cakewalk, just steamroll Hellas with Antigonos and turn towards Epeiros.
As for you two, mini and _Bean_, please keep this stuff between you :smash:

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
Quick question about being an admiral: how do we rp upgrading ships and changing flagships? I know that if a new fleet is created then it will create a new name for the commander, but is there some way to keep my guy in command when (not if, when...he'll be pushing to upgrade to triremes and above asap) we build triremes?
As for characters arguing: I'd suggest that if avatars do need to argue, try and keep it in line with how the player cards describe them. It wouldn't make much sense for an unselfish/loyal/uncharasmatic person to involve himself in a power struggle at the expense of the empire.

No idea  Though new fleets do not always get admirals, so you (when ordered or get permission to) could try to built a fleet and if it gets an admiral, I will re-load for you etc. Or you can simply roleplay him to be a second-third-n-th in command and act as small groups, which is most likely going to be the case (no huge fleets, but fractured ones to cover a greater area).
By the way, I'm thinking of enabling an extra "bonus feature" especially for you. Mainly, I'm thinking of letting you take a share of all all trade incomes (illegally, of course, but it would be possible for a man of such power) and add it to your salary.

Certainly, their in-character behaviour has to reflect (at least up to a certain degree) the traits and psycho-synthesis of their avatars. Note the up to some degree part, though.
By the way, make your choices quickly lads. I want to get started with this :whip::smash:

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
We have enough to start, don't we? We just need someone to start as the actual king
-
Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
Well, I'd like there to be more. If 1-2 more people could make their pickings, then probably I could take who remains and we can start.

because there was no detailed structure as who gets tho choose first, a lot of ppl may refrain of making their choice :)

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
Well, if their followed this thread a bit they'd know. Or they simply want to be Synedroi, but haven't yet clearly stated so. Anyway I just contacted the rest, let's see if they are able to reply quickly so we can get this started.

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
I guess Antigonos Argeades is my guy, then. Basileus in two games out of three ain't too shabby. ~;p
(I saw now it's according to subscription, but so long as none before me choose him...
Gah. I shouldn't be so trigger-happy.)
(Edit 2 (actually 3, but...): Tripple-gah! I was trigger-happy again! Apparently, that was done away with, so I really am my beloved Gonatas. (I love that name. It sounds awesome.))

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
I knew you would be the one to grab him :2thumbsup:

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
What? Is my lust for power that obvious?

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
Meh...you're just the Kingly type. Shame really, though. My character is disloyal. Sorry TCV.:2thumbsup:

I guess I'll be a synedros for now.

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
Who is there left for me to pick?

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
I'm afraid the family members seem to be taken up, but theirs still the spy and diplomat, or you can simply be a synedros

hehe, it hasn't started yet. So if I'm in, ( asked some questions in the application-thread of Maion ) I'd take the ... -ouwww- how is he called, :furious3: :help: ahhh found it ... Archekataskopos. And later I could do a Wladimir Putin-style task-change - hope you get me :bling:

Re: The Vergina Sun - An EB Makedonian PBM Game
I will take Karpos Aiginios, if thats possible.
