Meh, if I play less mafia, I'll have time for KotF. I thinks its a pretty good tradeoff.
I'll have to wait until tuesday/wednesday of next week to get kingdoms though. Hopefully that won't be an issue.
I'm in! Should be back from the beach by Monday and have my reliable old 'net connection back at last.

Assuming equal distribution across Houses, that would be five per House, which is a good number. My jaw is still on the ground at the idea of spawning 16 RBGs on turn 1, but in the long term, this level of participation would be great.
Welcome back!
Quick question on allocating starting characters. Do people want me to assign the starting fms, or should I do it randomly from a list from the signup thread?
By the way, I will be on a longer vacation through August, so I don't think it makes much sense to jump fully in before just to have to put everything on ice through August, so I won't really join until Setpember. I'll just assume you'll have started by then! :beam:
I'd likely try to leave them off of the randomized list, although that wouldn't work if some hadn't posted here they'd be joining late.
I think the main advantage of assigning is that I can pick some of the players that have been the most active and would take to the leadership roles of King, Prince, Duke, etc. well. The main disadvantage is any perceived unfairness...
You can take these more active ones and randomly assign roles to them(although, I think that's what you meant).
I'll figure out a system for the starting fms (which are fairly few anyway, compared to the many rgbs). Given the importance of those first mainstay characters making it completely random might cause problems...
Is there anyone here who will want to wait on an fm (several kids are due to come of age in the first decade or so)?
I don't mind waiting a FM if I can post stories of him growing up.
You most certainly can and I'll be glad to write stories with you, providing you want that of course. :clown:
Ok, given that some waiting is involved (the two younger prince are, well, quite young) I'll go first come, first serve. You are free to grab either Prince Henri or Michel, and anyone else that doesn't mind the wait may take the other son.
I will figure out starting fms and start pumping out those RGBs for people to choose as soon as I can. We can even get that taken care of while finishing the rules and mod, so people can start getting an idea for their characters.
Beware that if you want the names modded, you'll have to start the campaign with it. Besides, I intended to mod the names of the starting character as well (No more Perrin Gassou, yuck... Everytime I hear that name I can't help but think of a peasant rather than a general...)
I'll take Michel then. If others don't mind.
16 is nothing. In LotR, I spawned 56 on the first turn. :laugh4:
:jawdrop:
Just out of curiosity, roughly what proportion of the 56 were active after 10 turns?
I was very interested to see how you allocated the avatars, although I hope whatever process Zim uses, it does not take 7 days for players to finish it. I am itching to start writing a story...
Each player got a choice of RBGs (after the first batch, players got to pick from three), so there were plenty left over.
I'd say that there were around 20 initial stories introducing all of the avatars in the game's opening days.
And then there was Bart...
About every scenario I devised as his backstory was already posted when I finally got him. In the end I finally figured a backstory for him but never wrote, let alone posted it...
