Re: Gameroom Rock/Scissors/Paper tournament
Day 2 results
After an exciting an interesting Day 1, the stadium is filled to bursting point once again with the crowd waiting for the day's matchups. This round does not promise to disappoint with several tough showdowns looming. The referee walks out to a myriad of cheers, but the crowd quickly goes quiet as he raises his hand in the air.
"Rock... paper... scissors... shoot!"
Andres and Beefy187 stare at each other a minute before throwing down. Beefy, thinking Andres would break his promise and throw Rock, thus defeating anyone who would believe Andres would stay true, throws Paper. However, to the gasp of the crowd, Andres also throws Paper, trying to be one step ahead. Upon the second throwdown, both people grin as their choices are both revealed to be Rock.
Andres and Beefy187 draw
Sigurd, fresh off an easy victory against Andres, decides to throw Scissors against the winless Warmaster Horus, evidently hoping that Horus throws Paper again. However, he has fallen into the Warmaster's trap. Horus, banking on Sigurd sticking with familiarity, has thrown Rock.
Warmaster Horus defeats Sigurd
pevergreen and CountArach, having both gotten into a tie the previous round, do so again with both of them throwing Rock. pever, having won the second throw last round by sticking with his original choice, throws Rock again. CA meanwhile, hoping for something more than another draw after sticking with his previous choice the second throw last round, diverts from course and throws Scissors. pevergreen has once again triumphed by doing the same thing in a tie. CA is disgusted.
pevergreen defeats CountArach
atheotes, fresh off his tie with CountArach the previous day, looks for something quicker this round and throws Scissors. He achieves his wish as Death is Yonder, who had triumphed yesterday because of Scissors, thinks a little too hard and throws Paper.
atheotes defeats Death is Yonder
With the second day's results in, the one thing that becomes clear is that this is going to be a very tight tournament. Out of all of the contestants, pevergreen is the only one that has taken both of his matches, with the others all lumped together, trying to claw their way to the top.
Standings through Day 2:

pevergreen: 2
atheotes: 1.5
Sigurd: 1
Death is Yonder: 1
Warmaster Horus: 1
CountArach: 0.5

Ah.. man.
I was this close to choosing paper. But my impatience didn't want a draw, so I went in for a quick kill.
Sadly I took FLAK and went down burning.

Re: Gameroom Rock/Scissors/Paper tournament
Day 3 results
So far, after two days, no one contestant has managed to rise above the constant mental stresses that the tournament is famous for and pull away from the pack. Oh sure, pevergreen was undefeated, and some people were doing better than others, but all in all it was still a very tight tournament, with very little questions being answered. The numerous people flocking to the stadium for Day 3 of this exciting spectacle are hoping for some kind of separation or answers.
However, they still cheer wildly nonetheless when the referee comes out, acknowledges all of the contestants, and raises his hand in the air.
"Rock... paper... scissors... shoot!"
The first match of the day is Andres vs. the current leader, pevergreen. Andres's promise of only throwing Scissors lasted an entire day before he discarded it yesterday. All of this means that pever was very confused, and Andres takes advantage of that here. pever throws Scissors, not wanting to look at his opponent. However, he can here by the wild gasp of the crowd that he has not maintained his undefeated record. Andres has thrown Rock.
Andres defeats pevergreen
Sigurd, still smarting over a tiebreaker defeat yesterday, is trying to rebound today with a victory over Death is Yonder. The two of them, each having one point, are trying to battle their way into the upper tier of contestants. The first round speaks of their being evenly-matched, with both contestants throwing Rock. However, in the second round, Sigurd pulls away, taking a gamble and throwing Paper which covers DiY's more conservative Rock. Sigurd acknowledges the crowd's loud cheering by bowing, shakes hands with his opponent, and watches the rest of the matches.
Sigurd defeats Death is Yonder
Beefy187, trying to claw his way back to the middle of the pack, battles atheotes, who before today was second place, a half a point behind pever. However, this round only served to muddle things more. On their first round, both contestants throw Paper. In the second round though, the risk-taker is rewarded once again, as Beefy's Scissors triumph over atheotes's Paper.
Beefy187 defeats atheotes
The final match is yet another tiebreaker, ensuring that the exhausted referee is certainly earning his pay. It is the same story as the other two, with CountArach and Warmaster Horus both throwing Scissors in the first round, and CountArach deviating from the course in the second round by throwing Rock, which crushes Horus's conservative choice of Scissors.
CountArach defeats Warmaster Horus
The third day is over, providing fewer answers than the rabid crowd wanted. However, the day has been good for one thing for sure: Providing a sound tiebreaking strategy. All three victors from tiebreakers won the same exact way; by predicting their opponents would remain on course and reacting accordingly. Of course, it remains to be seen how well this strategy holds up in the future.
Standings through Day 3:
Quote:
pevergreen: 2
Sigurd: 2
CountArach: 1.5
atheotes: 1.5
Andres: 1.5
Beefy187: 1.5
Warmaster Horus: 1
Death is Yonder: 1
(note: in the case of a tie score at the end of the Round Robin phase, seeding will be determined by the head-to-head result.)

It is now Day 4!

Re: Gameroom Rock/Scissors/Paper tournament
Day 4 results
With today marking the halfway point of the round robin phase, the massive audience gathered at the stadium (not to mention the contestant pool) is eager for some answers, some separation. So far, they have been treated to an extremely tight battle where a single point separates first place from last. Tournament organizers are fretting about what they have to do should a multiple tiebreaker be required, but that's a story for another day. It's time for another round!
As always, the crowd somewhat quiets down as the referee walks in, acknowledges the contestants, and raises his hand in the air.
"Rock... paper... scissors... shoot!"
Andres and Warmaster Horus stare each other down before throwing. Horus is desperately hoping for a victory, having achieved his one point in a victory against Sigurd. Andres, his promise to throw only Scissors, has long been dust in the wind. However, he deems it prudent enough to actually throw Scissors this time around, and the mental tactics work as Horus throws Paper and visually grimaces. With Andres's victory, he temporarily moves into first place while Horus slips further back.
Andres defeats Warmaster Horus
Next, in a matchup of a co-leader and a person only half a point behind, both Sigurd and atheotes are jockeying to firmly place themselves apart from the rest of the pack. Sigurd has attributed his one loss to a break in concentration, and has vowed for it not to happen again. However, he doesn't achieve the quick kill as both contestants throw Paper initially. Keeping with recent tradition, though, atheotes adjusts and throws Scissors, which easily cuts through Sigurd's conservative choice of Paper. atheotes has moved himself ahead of Sigurd, who is starting to look like the tournament's most inconsistent player.
atheotes defeats Sigurd
pevergreen, the other co-leader, faces down Death is Yonder in the next match, who is bringing up the rear. Now, because this is such a tight tournament, lots of people are picking DiY to be victorious here, just to throw another wrench into the proceedings. However, this is not to be. After an initial tie of both contestants throwing Paper, pevergreen finally achieves some separation and establishes himself as the clear leader by staying conservative and sticking with Paper while DiY tries to do too much and throws Rock.
pevergreen defeats Death is Yonder
Finally, the last match of the is CountArach vs. Beefy187, both of whom have been known for initially getting into ties. Of course, keeping with the theme of anything going in this tournament, no such tie is to be found as CA achieving a quick victory with his Paper covering Beefy's Rock.
CountArach defeats Beefy187
With the round robin phase halfway over, a hierarchy has finally somewhat been established. This is a relief to a great amount of people, including the bettors who now know where to set the odds of each match. As a matter of fact, the only people who probably don't like it are the "have nots" themselves, who find themselves having extra work to do should they not want to go up against the likes of pevergreen and CountArach in the opening match of the knockout round.
Standings through Day 4:
Quote:
pevergreen: 3
CountArach: 2.5
atheotes: 2.5
Andres: 2.5
Sigurd: 2
Beefy187: 1.5
Warmaster Horus: 1
Death is Yonder: 1
