Greatest Video Game Hero contest

Hehe, my bet goes to Lara Croft or Snake. Even if this 4chan w/e rig is taking place, once B&B or Duke comes up against someone as popular as Snake, the sheer weight of Snake's popularity will crush Duke or B&B. In any case, as a fan of B&B, I shall support him until the final, where then it shall depend on who's on the other side.

Heroes I support are: Mario, Lara Croft, Cloud, Ah! The Freeman..., Snake, B&B and Pac-Man. Of all those B&B, Lara and Snake are my toppest ones, with Snake being the number 1 favorite for me.

How is it rigging the vote?

Because they used proxies to stuff thousands of fake votes into the ballot? And despite their repeated claim that you don't need an account to vote, quite a few HAVE indeed made multiple accounts to troll with (because Gamespot is wielding the banhammer with increasing impunity), and I seriously doubt that they didn't go ahead and add those multiple potential votes. I wouldn't be surprised if 10000 votes for Bub & Bob were illegitimate (with at least another 20000 legitimate ones from 4chan and Ebaums).

I find it disturbing that you actually care about such a subject. So the voting is rigged. So what? The world isn't gonna end. And those 4chan have to waste several hours switching between proxies just to vote for something nobody will care about in November. That seems like a win-win situation to me. You can also choose not to vote.

Huh? I don't really care anymore. If you look back, you'll see that I went from outrage to a desire to piss off 4chan to neutrality. Alexander asked how the vote was rigged and I explained it to him. :juggle2:

So, this is really turning out to be pretty epic. Bub and Bob beat Sonic and almost beat Samus, but were stopped cold by Gamespot's decision to remove 16000 fraudulent votes.

Gordon Freeman went up against Snake and won with like 100 votes. The remaining 4 battles are all pretty close. Duke Nukem vs Link and Samus vs Megaman, incredible.

For me I would want Gordon to go all the way, with Link as my second pick, but its obvious the nostalgia of Mario will triumph over everything, even the originality of the past couple Link games.

Link so far hasn't had any major contenders. I bet that it will be a close call between Link and the Freeman.

Meh. When I posted this Link and Mario were actually close to losing.

I am rooting for Freeman though.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it came down to Link and Mario, and judging from the numbers today it looks like we're heading toward your prediction of the final four. Though I must admit, beyond the first match up between the chief and B&B, i haven't been following this. :shrug:

It's official. Gordon wins. Nice that none of the heavyweights made it. Gordon only became popular in the 2004 with Half Life2 whereas Mario has been around for 20+ years now.
