Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
As far as physical attraction goes I could care less either way but I have a lot of respect for women who do things for themselves.
-
Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
I've always preferred women with dark hair, not sure why. That's not to say there aren't attractive blondes and redheads and whatnot, I just like dark hair.
-
Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
I like dark features, eyes and hair, and I prefer them to be a tad plump, not fat, just plump and soft. Sentimental, affectionate and intelligent. A good moral fabric is also appealing.

To be honest, regardless of my partner's gender, their physical strength is irrelevant; I think that there are more important qualities to look at in a potential partner.
lol, I specifically wanted to know the opinion of men about women though. ~;) Feel free to start a thread about what women think of men.

Anyway, to answer OP's question, OP's question is a false, misogynistic dichotomy. If we're talking characteristics, then intelligence is definitely the number one factor for me - smart girls make me melt, no question about it. If we have to talk about physical characteristics, then definitely legs.
Thank you for demonstrating to us just how modern and feminist you are Subotan! Chill out.
I never said that physical characteristics were more or less important than beliefs, intelligence, etc. I was simply specifically examining the subject of muscularity, as it is something that has surprised me recently in life.

I will agree that it is not necessarily as simple as A=1, but there is definitely a trend that I have observed that people who have a lot of responsibility and work hard when they are young generally have a lot more of a clue than others, and are a lot better people. (and less likely to engage in behaviors that I would consider depraved) Working hard also really builds a mindset and a set of values that I greatly value. It is not about (as Subotan was saying) what she looks like, but what she has done and how she thinks. I am not saying that women who have not had working backgrounds are bad people, but they are less likely to have the set of values, the world view, and the common sense that I really admire. I also think that they are less likely to be good people. Trials builds moral character. Hard work does that very well. It really makes the difference between someone understanding life or not understanding life IMHO.
(and yeah, I find well muscled women to be very visually pleasing as well :P)

this is the most important thing! :D
Although I did prefer girls that is not too big... or muscular... athletic and muscular girl reminds me of my twin sister, and I hate that kind of thinking, and also because it can become very confusing tell who is the girl if we stand together.... at least with a very delicate and feminine girl at my side, no one will think I was a girl.

lol, you could fix that by doing some hard work yourself. ~;)

Couldn't agree more.
Most people would think of my wife as "very delicate".
If you would ask me to describe how strong she is, I'd answer that she's made of steel.

Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
For about the first week after meeting them - physical appearance.
Beyond that - intelligence and personality (though physical appearance is still nice :eyebrows:)
Both are important, but you're nuts if you say physical appearance isn't a driving factor in asking someone out the first time. Well, I guess if you're dating a long-term friend, but that's not generally a good idea anyway.

lol, I never said physical appearance wasn't a driving factor. ~;) I think that anyone, man or woman, considers physical appearance when dating.

I am sure that she is Andres. I have been fortunate enough to know some 'very delicate', yet very good, very strong women. My point is though that on average, I have observed that women who have done the hard work it takes to become physically strong seem to be much more likely to be more desirable in other ways as well. Physical strength means that someone has used their body for hard work, and therefore have achieved something. Mental dexterity means that someone has used their brain for hard work, and therefore has achieved something. I find both extremely worthy of respect, and together, there is nothing more attractive or worthy of respect in my mind as a woman who is both a great thinker and a great worker. I can still respect someone who only possesses one of those qualities, but not nearly to the extent as someone who possesses both. I have no respect for someone who possesses neither, for they have never used either their bodies or their brains for anything. Luckily, it seems that it is usually (though by no means always) all or none. Those who are very fit and active, and have worked hard tend to be those who are also very intelligent. Through hard work someone can become both physically and intellectually attractive.

Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
thats not true at all vuk. being physically strong does not mean in the slightest they are mentally tough or smart in the slightest. "doing the work" doesnt mean anything. Physical strength most certainly does not mean they used their body for hard work such a statement is patently false.

Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
Since I like to go climbing once a week, it would be nice if she was either a good climber, or would be willing to climb once a week. Climbing muscles aren't bulky, more wiry. A totally muscleless woman is a turn off. I mean, you struggle to lift a 2 liter bottle? That's kinda pathetic - though I know a fair few guys like women like that.
But, obviously, being pretty is good, but intelligence and personality are long term necessities. All 3 is the jackpot!

lol, I did not say bulky though, just strong. I know women who (because of the work they do) can exert enormous amounts of strength, but do not look esp strong. And yeah, it would be nice to find a woman who loves practicing martial arts. ~;)

Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
Oh yeah, another thing that hard work develops is confidence...something generally lacking, or existing in a lesser degree in women who are strangers to hard work. Confidence is a crucial part of attraction.

You asked for opinions, and you got mine. Whether you think that is rabid political correctness is entirely up to you. I know this isn't the backroom, so I don't feel a need to nor am I justifying myself to The Internet.

Yes, Sub, but are the legs delicate or strong?
I don't care, so long as they're the ones these guys are talking about.

In regards to this thread, my opinion is just as valid as a man's though; in fact, given the nature of some of the threads we see in the Frontroom, I'd argue moreso! :P

Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
I prefer weak women, because I panic when women are stronger than me.
And as for physical strength, I love small women (1.50m) who look very delicate but turn out to be a real tigress in bed, strong as steel. Such as Andres' wife, who turned out surprisingly strong for her small size.

Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
vuk once again hard work does not equal confidence.
i dont see many ditchdiggers exuding beams of confidence.
i do see film stars with confidence and i would be loath to term what they do as even being work.

Re: Men, what characteristics generally attract you to women?
Where's the "I'm still a teenager, my hormones make me stupid around women and I lack the sellf esteme to even attempt to ask a woman out" option?

I am beyond skeptical of your observed trend. A few anecdotes do not data make.
I don't think being physically strong has any correlation whatsoever with good character. Nor do I think hard work is just of the physical variety.
Heck, look at all the ********** who work out all the time and look good but are complete *********.
I don't think simple hard labor really tests someone's character.
Also - why haven't you asked out the woman mentioned in the OP? ~;p

Work, not working out. ~;) They are very different things.
I did not ask her out because at that time I was seeing someone, and she has a boyfriend. :P

once again since you ignored it last time your idea is false.
I Do not see many ditchdiggers walking around brimming with confidence and that is certainly work.
