AFAIK, Buddhist philosophy is that if you commit sins then you don't have much chance of being reborn as a human in the next life. So if you eat too many puppies, chances are you'll be reborn as one :clown:

in the other hands, killing the puppies may actually fastened their karma cycle so they'll reborn as human again.
as long as you don't do it the cruel way (as if beating them to death, etc), but do it the humane way with simple sharp knife at the throat.
and what will a butcher be reborn? if you count every animal killings as sins?
