Hello all, long time no visit.
Steam uninstalled and downloaded my RTW Remastered. My save games have gone AWOL. Does anyone know a)are they compatible, b) where are they??
I've looked in all the usual little nooks and crannies steam game saves can be tucked away. Are they gone forever??
Not too bothered about the save games per se. It's just annoying, particularly as I need to beat the game again to unlock playable factions
Edit: I must have lost my login. I was here in 2005 maaaan :)
Do you mean that you had the classic RTW installed and it uninstalled it? I highly highly doubt that save game files from the original game will be compatible with the remaster. However, they did say that you wont need to beat the game to unlock all factions so you dont have to worry about that.
I wish my RTW would suddenly change to Remastered! :laugh4: You sure it's the Remastered tho?
Also, a simple descr_strat file change will allow you to make all other factions playable in the original RTW.
Well, I guess it will change to Remastered by the end of this month, provided you buy it. :grin2:
I've already got it :2thumbsup: . It added Total War Rome Remastered to the games list but did not change anything with the original.
So once you buy it, it is added to your Steam library, but its only unlocked for you once its released (or so I assume thats how it will work).
I see a slight uptick in overall TW forums activity so I guess having Rome TW Remastered releasing will bring back players to the franchise.
In the upcoming week they are lifting NDA from Barbarian Invasion and Alexander. So that should be interesting.
Perhaps an .Org renaissance? :sweatdrop:
Definitely interested to see some gameplay from those two, though I do really like how they put night battles in the main game. From what Ive seen so far, the night battles look great.
Also, after a night battle the campaign map stays in night mode (until you end the turn). It's a small detail but I really like it.
It's interesting to consider what the implications of RTWR would mean in the long term - M2TW being remastered? Empire TW Remaster?
So far it's looking rather good for CA but depends to be seen based on the sales they get on it.
CA has insisted there is no remaster in the works for M2TW but I think you are right about them holding off to see how the Rome 1 remaster does. I think it will do really well, but on the other hand, Feral has been working on Rome 1 for a while with the mobile version so a remaster would take much longer. I dont think Empire would get remastered as its already using the newer engine and the graphics hold up nicely, even if the gameplay isnt so great. Honestly they would do far better to revamp the AI in that game rather than a full overhaul.

Anyone know if the crossed swords are back for a heroic victory?
I liked those as it reminded me of history book battle maps.
I haven't seen them on streams and youtube videos but that doesn't mean they are not there. I doubt they were removed.
And I liked them too!

Watching some streams of remastered Barbarian Invasion right now. Looks good! :2thumbsup:
Just 13 days until the release!!
All these streams are nothing worth. They just play the game happily like if it was playthrough, showing the freaking campaign map most of time. Almost no zooms, they all choose the same standard build units and basically it seems like they're going to just finish the game, not to run a review for other players.
Jealousy? Rather not. More like frustration.
Aren't most of the streamers limited to what they can show, like only the first 50 or so turns? I do remembering hearing that the review embargo will be lifted at the end of next week so we should get more reviews then.
Also the Steam page now lists the system requirements and it looks to be the most graphically demanding TW yet. And what also stands out to me is the 70gb of hard drive space it requires. That seems absurd to me since the original game was a fraction of that. My guess is that its just a placeholder.
Also you might like Lionheartx10's videos, they seem to have a good amount of zooming in on units.
Bought a new PC about 6 months ago and have the recommended specs. :)
