I wouldn't mind taking over the reign, but I can't figure out how to download the file. All I ever get is the .Org image.

I wouldn't mind taking over the reign, but I can't figure out how to download the file. All I ever get is the .Org image.
Xiahou,
sorry you got tied up.
Simon is right. Whoever is free gets to go and play. Lonewolf posted first, so he gets to go third reign.
Lonewolf is right, for some reason I cannot download the file with Explorer on a PC. I also get the org.gif file despite using download target as THe link seems correct when you Copy shortcut.
I got it without problem using my Mac . So I can email to lonewolf. What is your email?
afrit
actually I couldn';t download it with the Mac either. I got confused by another link.
Simon, something not right with the link. Can you re-upload or mail to lonewolf?
afrit
PS: simon, excellent writeup and great reign https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...s/bigthumb.gif Truly a pleasure to read. Also impressed that you managed to hold on to Anitoch Can you fill in the details of the second and third battle of Antioch?. DOesn't have to be in writeup.
afrit
The download is fine. I have it. I could e-mail or MSN it if you guys want...
I suspect there is a problem with the org uploader right now - it did work for Xiaohou before. My e-mail is simon.appleton@nottingham.ac.uk.
Lonewolf or Afrit can e-mail me and I'll send them the game.
I'll post some details on the other two battles of Antioch when I get a few minutes.
Alright Simon, I e-mailed you, looking forward to being Henri II.
OK, Lonewolf, I've e-mailed you the save game. Have a good reign
Ok guys, reign is over, I made a lot of progress I mean GHEEZE you guys suck https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...icons/wink.gif
Actually I was really impressed from the start, but what with Antioch up and trading now and the Almohads in the dust we now have bottomless coffers Hooray https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...-2thumbsup.gif
I'll upload the file soon, but first could someone tell me how to post screen-shots so I can use it for my write-up?
BTW, if you can't DL the file just e-mail me (lonewolf371@hotmail.com) and I'll send it to you.
EDIT: The goal at the start of my reign was to develop provinces and stabilize the economy, most of the buildings still seemed kind of under-developed, despite the excellent gains in territory.
Title is: French Dynasty 1163, sorry forgot to put the The part.
And in case anyone is interested, Normandy was teching up to build spears, Champagne was building archers, Ile de France was building Men-at-Arms, Toulouse was almost ready to build Feudal Knights, and Aquitaine was teching up to light cavalry/Gendarmes.
Wow, that was quick, Lonewolf - did you get any sleep?? You seemed to have played your reign over night
Screenshots are very easy to post. First, take the TGA pictures you took by pressing F2 and then edit them to 80% size, saving as jpg format. I use microsoft photo editor. Then you need to upload them onto the internet - I believe the org has a uploader for this, but I've never used it. Finally in your write up you post the link with img in square brackets before the link and /img in square brackets after the link. Preview your post to check it looks right and you are done.
Sorry about the low tech buildings - I prioritised shipbuilding but kept all the hinterland provinces investing in buildings.
What's the situation regarding our GAs? Have we crusaded to Palestine? How far is Tripoli towards a citadel?
In response to Afrit's query about the other two battles of Antioch: we were given a break because the Turks fell into rebellion after the first battle. They later recovered by loyalist rebellions when our second crusade vacated Syria, so it did not have a permanent effect on them but it knocked the stuffing out them imbetween.
- the second battle was in 1124, the weakened Turks invaded with 761 men vs my 653. It was late and I did not want to spend 2 hours being shot to death by horse archers, so I autoresolved to go to bed. The results were 498 Turks dead and 217 of ours. I kinda liked those results, so I did not reload when I continued the game next day.
- the third battle was in 1127 when the Egytpians invaded with a big army (2000 or so). By that time I had built an inn and recruited two armoured spear types and one fari. The battle was a very serious one - the Egyptians came on in earnest. We killed 617, captured 256 and lost 211. The Egytpian Sultan was killed in the pursuit.
Tripoli is building a Citadel now, Palestine is crushed, treasury is... oh, 77k or so. Chancellor is complete, basically the only people than can possibly oppose us now are the Byzantines, and that's only because they conquered all of Asia. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...cons/angry.gif
But anyhow, I did stay up all night but that's only because with all this vacation time my sleep pattern is so messed up I'm almost nocturnal. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...ns/biggrin.gif
Unfortunately, I'll have to start staying awake during the day-time and going to sleep at night once band camp starts. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...cons/frown.gif
Oh yea, and if anyone else needs help posting images, TosaInu whipped us up a little something here.
Well done, Lonewolf, sounds like an interesting reign. The reason I prioritised shipbuilding is that if you can get a fleet in every sea, you can quickly amass a big balance.
So far as I can make out, either Afrit or TrickyLady can now claim the game. It would also be good if other people could sign up to join the pool in order to claim subsequent reigns.
Yea thanks for the ships But what really got me was all the high-star generals you had. I'm really not all that much of a war-mongering type, so normally the highest amount of stars my generals get is 3 or 4. It helped our heirs too, Charles (next in line) has 7 general stars, 7 acumen, and I think 3 dread, but I normally don't care that much about dread anyway.
Yes, I was surprised by the quality of our leaders. It made defending our borders on expert much more manageable - each border province could have a decent leader. And it was quite a change from the garbage I am used to working with as a turtling HRE I think at least 3 of the high star generals we got were historical French ones - France, like England, is quite favoured in early and we did not create them. The quality of heirs does depend on our war-mongering, but in my reign that was defensive - the only war I started was against the Turks who I had to attack to get our crusade closer to Tripoli. I did let the King fight where possible, but never delayed a battle to wait for him and usually worked with whoever was at had.
Hi folks,
I'm not claiming the PBM (yet), so if afrit wants to play the next king, he can go.
I just post this short message to tell you that I'll be away from the internet for two weeks (end of July, beginning of August), and that I'll most probably won't have time to play a reign.
Please keep me in the players' pool though, I'd like to take up a reign when I return from my holidays (assuming that there still *is* a reign to be played by then, of course).
If afrit can't play this week, then I will try to play the game somewhere this week no matter how. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no.../gc-smiley.gif
https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...icons/wave.gif
Hi gang https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...icons/wave.gif
Happy to see the PBM progressing well. You guys rock And we were worried that it is on expert. Hah
This is one of the faster PBMS so far. I would like to think the pool idea has something to do with it. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...ns/biggrin.gif But I am afraid I will slow it down some. I am (finally) picking up the PBM. I'll play some tonight, and then later Sunday (I am going camping Saturday, yeeha Good decompression from an exhausting week at work .)
I also picked up the dormant Italian PBM, but this one is more interesting and gets priority.
I look forward to lonewolf's writeup in the Chronicle thread.
cheers
Afrit
PS: once I finish, Tricky Lady will be the only one eligible, unless we get more players in the pool.
If TL cannot play, and we do not get new players, I'll make everyone else eligible to play again.
https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...ns/gc-oops.gif
Xiahou is also eligible after my reign. Just noticed that when updating the List of Active PBMs https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...-2thumbsup.gif
Sorrya 'bout that
afrit
Good luck with your reign afrit.
lonewolf,
I hoe you're still here. I cannot download the savegame Same problem you had. Can you email me ? (tonymakhlouf@yahoo.com).
afrit
Sorry, was doing write-up for awhile, I sent the e-mail, you should get it soon.
EDIT: I just noticed that on one of your posts a couple posts back one of your smiley faces has one eye [.)]. Isn't that a bit odd?
hi there,
quick update. I played a few years already. It is really easy now with all the preparation by the previous reigns https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...ns/biggrin.gif https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...cons/frown.gif . We are in the lead of GA points. I just took Syria and Arabia (it was nice to beat the AI on expert despite being outnumbered 2100 to 1040 https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...s/bigthumb.gif )
So Tripoli is not a border province anymore, and I moved the King there to supervise the Citadel construction personally.
I plan on role-playing King Charles (command 7, killer instinct, hard sums, high piety) by personally leading campaigns with him in the Levant against muslims or byz while keeping the peace and trade income going in Europe, and also built a dominant navy to deter enemy attacks on our ships.
If the byz attack us, I'll crusade against them https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no.../ht_charge.gif With a weak byzantium, when the GH hits my successors will have a challenge left to do https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...icons/wink.gif
afrit
Try and leave at least some challenge, don't crash the empire or anything, but let a rogue nation develop so we have numbers against us.
7* https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...ticons/eek.gif how did you guys manage to create such a monsterous leader
Simple, you and Appleton created them for us. Then I just added a few more battles on top of it and WHABANG, all of our heirs are at least 6 stars.
quick update:
It is now 1180.
finances doing great (250 K). King Charles is a magnificent builder etc...
Every time he invades a country, rebellions break out. Giving good practice to rear commanders.
War with byzantium imminent after a decade of almost total peace. We have declared a crusade against Volga-Bulgaria when it was rebel held, but now byzantium holds it. THe crusade is sitting next door in Khazar (given permission by Byzantines) awaiting our navy to be in position to take on Byz navy.
afrit
May our forces ride to victory.

final update:
It is 1191. King Charles IV has just died at age after reigning for 28 years.
By themes:
Succession:
King Jean III (age 22) is in good shape. Command 8, acumen 9, dread 7. He is single and so needs to be married off.
Technology:
France has multiple Citadels (most developed province is Toulouse where King has been Teleported) including: Tripoli, Ile De France (cathedral GA halfway done), Toulouse (teching for Chiv knights , should be available around 1215 by my count). Moldavia recently conquered fro mByz may be able to get a few avar nobles before Early period is out. Syria teching for assassins high level
GA:
All crusades have been achieved before my reign. Citadel in Tripoli started by lonewolf finished with appropirate credit given. Notre Dame cathedral in Ile De France is halfway done. We have 80 points and are in the lead.
Military:
Lots of troops with good commanders (princes and others). Toulouse pumping FK's, ANtioch turcopoles, Leon Jinetes. A couple of crusade markers ready as well. One active crusade with target Greece.
Navy:
I built lots of ships. I aimed for at least 2 ships in each sea region and mostly achieved that. THis is to deter sneak attacks by neutrals and keep others at peace.
Treasury:
Lots of Merchants and Merchant guilds to provide hefty income of around 30,000 (down from peak of 36,000 because of Byzantine war).
Treasury at 345 K and rising. Trade dependent on keeping neutrals neutral (especially Italy,Sicily,Pope).
We are richest, biggest military, most advanced.
War:
We are at war actively with Byzantium. We have taken Constantinople with its port and some other facilities. A trade post is being built there, but already its income is >1000 florins. Nicaea has been sacked and Greece is besieged. Moldavia was taken to try for avar nobles (my successor may get a few years of production if my reding of tech tree is correct). They still have a pesky dromon occasionally blocking constantinople, but we have a minimum of 2 ships everywhere. By taking Moldavia and Const, the Byz empire is split into 3 separate pieces. Some more pressure and I think it will break apart. But they are still mighty tough with lots of good generals.
We are at nominal war with
almohads, England, Germ, any, Turkey. All refused armistice offers. All have not had any military action during my reign. Only ally is the pope.
I did not want to conquer too much to avoid AI gang up. Only provinces conquered in my reign are Sinai, SYria, Sinai, Lesser Armenia, Constantinople, Moldavia, Greece.
Whoever follows will have a great time I hope. I hope Tricky Ladycan take it on.
good luck
Afrit
Sounds like we should just get it over with and conquer the rest of the map. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...cons/smile.gif
