allowing two units of Princeps to be drawn into a desert valley, where they were swarmed upon by Numidian Cavalry. (almost lost Carthage do to this, arg!)

No, when you recieve the tag of moderator you must above and beyond the required terms of a patron. You are a rolemodel, wether you like it or not. You are also the face of the site as well... But if this is what the org is about then the manner is of course fully acceptable.

Any units you have in the vicinity take losses, including ships at sea. That's the main thing. Nearby cities also seem to take a loyalty hit. Anger of the gods and so forth.

Which Volcano was it and where is it near?

Sicily's Mount Etna, west of Syracuse and Messina. Can't miss it. Had the hollow crater at the top even when dormant.

The real Mount Etna still erupts once in a while. There was a very neat picture of it taken by satellite not long ago, leaving a long plume of smoke that was longer than Siciliy.

I managed to get a spy through on the third try after the first two died. Yes, I am stubborn. ~:)
