well, you all got me curious, so i took a wander through the beginnings of several songs in my collection. oddly, i came up with 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'. it's an interesting intro and i hadnt listened to that song in quite a while :)

I forgot to mention 'Down with the sickness' by Disturbed. It has such an awesome intro.
That could start a new thread....Best Primal ScreamQuote:

Aside from "Natural Mystic" I mentioned earlier ( the Natural Mystic compilation album version/mix is better btw ).
More Bob Marley and the Wailers intro:
"Redemption Song" - Beautiful, simple acoustic guitar intro.
"Buffalo Soldier" - Very fine horn intro.
"Concrete Jungle" - Great buildup, then the whole thing explodes in a cardiac rhythm. Electric!! Check out Babylon by Bus live cd.
"The Heathen" - So mystical. Unfortunately, there's too many guitars in the studio version. On the Exodus Deluxe Edition, there's a better realized live version on the 2nd disc (not the same version on Babylon by Bus). Wooo!! :charge:
Love lies bleeding in my hands by Elton John and Love reign or me by the Who.
Only love can break your heart by St Ettienne - Features a clip of the french version of sports report, which I love for some reason
As others have mentioned Hells Bells by AC/DC is awesome. Perfect for when the Redwings have a key face-off late in the 3rd period and you hear it blasting out in the Joe - always gets my juices flowing ~
I have to add one:
Like Spinning Plates - Radiohead
Another great intro from Quadrophenia is The Real Me. The sound of the waves...you can just picture eating egg and chips in some dilapidated seaside chippy.Quote:

A few that sprang that sprang to mind:
"The End" by The Doors. Awesome. I'm actually more into the musicians of The Doors than Jim Morrison.
"Baby, You're a Rich Man" by The Beatles. The bass is cool, and the clavioline (piping instrument) is unique.
"I Put a Spell On You" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Really sets a great mood of voodoo in a dark bayou.
"Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin. Nice bass lead and Bonham drumming on a plastic garbage pail.
"Soul Sacrifice" by Santana. Beautiful congas, add bass, add guitar strums, then explode.
"I'm a Man" by The Spencer Davis Group. Another mood piece, equal to "The House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals.
Got a few which I can think of.
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" - Nirvana
"Down With The Sickness" - Disturbed
"The Bitter End" - Placebo
Plenty more I've failed to mention, those are the stand out ones for me, SLTS especially, mostly as it makes me think about what it would have been to be my age now back then, maybe Kurts suicide would effect me even more.
Down with the Sickness is also a great intro, love that song.
Others:
“We Are Going” – Burning Spear. Sweet, slow-flowing setup to a killer song.
“The Invasion” – Burning Spear. Trance. Simply trance.
“Lessons In My Life” – Peter Tosh. Emotional majesty.
“Unforgiven” – Metallica. Moodpiece.
“Lowrider” – WAR. Catchy little percussion intro.
Now that you’ve mentioned the Beatles,
“Come Together” – Nice little groover.
“In My Life” – Simple but evocative intro.
“Norwegian Wood” – Jangly good.
~
Forgot:
"Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)" by The Hollies
"The Theme from Shaft" by Isaac Hayes
"Papa Was a Rolling Stone" by The Temptations
Spirit of the age....Hawkwind.
