no we arent. i'm playing the rebels. my best unit is a hoplite, and still i beat up armies with cats and companions. its just tactics and some guts to charge on the right moment. i was outnubered 5 to 2 and i won killing 2000 of the 2300 men and lost 200 out of 2000 men. my army were mainly iberian infantry while i had to face veteran greek hoplites

I am playing Greeks and i have destoryed Julii, Brutti, Scipii, SPQR and Macedonia. I rated myself as a 9
Re: the fighting is not over!
I never thought I'd say this to a person playing RTW, but..........use complex tactics. I mean, simple. From what you've shown, maybe your brain can process simple plans better.......
Re: the fighting is not over!
He's only 14. Give him a break.
And I don't think I could win 2:1 odds on attack every time. (depends on troops of course.)
Defense is much easier.
Re: the fighting is not over!
2 to 1 in MTW was something(unless it was a Spanish Javelin spam army) not so much in RTW it seems.

How long have you played the game? It shouldn`t be difficult to win a battle with 2:1 odds, although there are rare exceptions.

Re: the fighting is not over!
I was getting massacred until I figured out that Hastati are not set at 'fire at will' and have to be told manually to do that. For some reason that makes an enormous difference. Previously I would lose outnumbering the other side 2:1, and now I'm beating the computer 1:3. ~ Perhaps the pilum is overpowered?

That's not really true... Alexander fought armies many times his size. Miltides repelled the Persians at Marathon and then marched back to Athens to repel the Persian Fleet. Hannibal at Cannae won a battle outnumbered 2 to 1 by enveloping the superior Roman force.
More modern examples:
Robert E. Lee even divided his forces in the face of superior numbers.
There were the American invasions of Iraq.
Outnumbering an opponent causes alot of a problems too. Only so many troops can be fighting at a certain time. That's why envloping works. A smaller organized force engages an equal amount of enemies at any given time at the perimeter of the enemy mass, thus everyone at the center are jsut standing there doing nothing.
There're alot of factors influencing battle, numbers isn't everything.

for some reason it makes a difference he says. what a joker. and no the pilum isnt really overpowered it is just powerful. cuz it has armour piercing it only counts half the armour rating
Re: the fighting is not over!
Why aren't the Hastati set at Fire at Will in the first place? They're pretty useless without the pila.
Re: the fighting is not over!
cuz they are infantry and not skirmishers. when attacking fire at will mode is annyoing.
Re: the fighting is not over!
Maybe you should make sure you got 3:1 odds?
Re: the fighting is not over!
Why do you guys keep feeding the troll?
Re: the fighting is not %
Who? KSEG? He's slightly annoying but not trolling.
Though Catiline might say other wise....
