I am surprised. At the moment each option has recieved roughly a quarter of the votes.
I'm not surprised that nearly a quarter of the backroom is too drunk.

Alcohol is neither good or bad it simply is. The problem is with the people and most of those who are out drinking and fighting would be fighting whether they drank or not.
Saying that I have found that I drink less and less as I get older, now I'm 30 I only go out about once every 3 weeks, when I do I get drunk though. I usually tend to leave earlyas well, when people are starting to bug me it's time to go home. ~
Real friends are the ones who will put up with you EVEN if you're drunk.Quote:
I used to drink a fair bit but it lead to nothing good. Sure I wasnt my shy self, but the "friends" i made didnt enjoy my company unless i was intoxicated.. they werent real friends
In the end they won't ban alcohol, and neither should they, but they may impose stiffer penalties for those causing aggravation while drunk.
I disagree. Booze is good. It tastes good and it feels good. If you can control your booze instead of your booze controlling you, you can have a lot of fun with it and it is a useful tool to give you pleasure along the road of life.Quote:

For my part I drink every single day. One beer. Sometimes two. Almost never three, maybe twice a month. Perhaps four times a year I'll buy a bottle of expensive bourbon and then I drink like a fish for four days. After that, it's back to the one beer a night.
Difficult to answer - while it is undeniable that alcohol makes terrible people of some people, I mostly have to agree with Beirut.
As long as you drink to enjoy and stop while you still enjoy it (i.e., not drinking yourself silly) - there are just two many occasions that just do not seem quite right for me without an alcoholic beverage
I have a hard time imagining a good diner with Mrs. Clegane or with friends without having some good wine.
A nice barbecue on a summer evening without some cold beer would only be half the fun (at best).
Having a good talk with a good friend over a couple of glasses of Single Malt...
So for me it makes the world a bit more enjoyable and better in specific moments - unfortunately that is not the truth for all people.
i got all the drunken stupidity out of me when i was in college... then it was all about binge drinking and having a blast with friends who were equally as drunk. it might not have been the most healthy of activities and i prolly should have been dead several times over, but the fun and debauchery were well worth it now, and i'll have things to chucle at when i'm grey....
now i'm older and supposedly wiser...
i try not to drink to excess, but i can still pack em away.
now brew my own ales, and i must tell you alcohol is good and a very important part of human history... some of the oldest recipes in the world are for beer as are some of the oldest laws...
get drunk, so that you may not be the martyred slaves of time...
Alchohol Good!
As a Swede with big beard in a viking metal band once said...
"Beer is the source of all poetry knowledge".
Alcohol is good. It brings out the real person in everyone. It allows the jerks to reveal themselves. It makes everything way funnier. It allows you to pull off some crazy Kung Fu moves. There is nothing it can't do.
I think even a binge is good; since even moderation must be taken in moderation. Besides, even moderate doses of cyanide are good for you.
Lastly, "alcohol" is the oldest word in the English language. If man has been doing it for longer than any other tradition we still have (other than..breeding), can it really be bad?
There is nothing bad with alchohol. As usually people make things complicated.
There is nothing bad enjoying some drinks with the company of some old friends or your girl. Either during a night out or having a barbeque in your yard. Having ice cold homemade wine while attacking the first done steak while its still on grill (the first is for the cooks as we say in my company).
Drinking is a part of social contact since ancient years. But it also differs for each man and each culture. For example not anybody can drink the same. I have friends that explode to space with a glass of beer. I for example can drink alot without losing control.
Generally i believe that its good to drink to the point you are having good time. Going out just to get drunk is stupid and causes only problems. But again culture plays role. When i ve been in east Ukraine first time i had never seen before so many drunk people or people drinking so much at any time of day. In Amsterdam i still recall english tourists going out just to get drunk and make noise. Maybe i generalizing but i talk through my experiences. Prohibiting alchohol i think you just make it more important than it is. Here in greece the ''leagal'' age for having alchohol in a club is 18. But its almost never in use those laws since you dont need id to get in. In liquor shops or supermarkets you can buy drinks at any age. Cause simply people assume its not for you plus a 15 year old having a beer its not consider a crime socially (not legally). Well guess what we dont have serious problem of drinking teens and people in general.
My parents since i was 12 me and my bro when we had family reunions or dinners they always filled a little glass with few sips of wine or beer for us. It was basically nothing but it gave us the illusion of participation and it took the ''forbidden'' glam from alchohol. Growing up we could have a full glass and so on. In that way i never felt alchohol was something special. I never felt that ''i have to drink like animal now that nobody sees me from family''.
Here when we finish school we go a 5 day excursion on some island with some escorting proffessors. As you understand its the chance every oppressed teen waited. Everybody drinks and many more. I was one of the few that stopped drinking when should. The rest had never a drink and as its so easy they got wasted. I knew my limits and more important i was not eager to drink
If you think drink will soften your problems you are wrong. If you think it can turn you to cazanova you are wrong. if you think you will become soul of the company when before you were hardly noticed you are wrong. If you think you will forget YOU ARE DEAD WRONG.
I think it doesnt need prohibitation. Just education. As everything else

Alcohol = fun

I don't drink, but I hardly think it's bad.
It depends what drink we are talking about and in what amount. I don't mind the odd drink most probably spirits either southern comfort or JD but not beer, i can't abide it and I only drink if i go out clubbing but there is nothing worse than if your are sober and being near any town on a friday or saturday night. The loutish behaviour of people who have made themselves totally and utterly pissed off there heads is totally vulgar.
BKB has a point. Drunken louts, especially at sporing events or concerts are quite annoying some times.
I am allergic to alchohol, I will puke if I consume minute quantities. I have seen enough drunnken louts to last a lifetime (I go to church and hang around in Soho...well Oxford Street...long story.)
I nevertheless have seen that a good bit of fun is never wrong, in moderatin it lifts the mood at a party (and makes girls ever so slightly easier as I am sober... ~D) but seriously, nothing wrong with it in moderation. I am not condoning alchoholism or overdrinking in any way...I have seen what binging maniacs do (hinthint houseparties.)
GAH! I`m underage for drinking! Where is that option?? :inquisitive:
Since when has that mattered in most places? ~
Alcohol is wheter Good nor Bad. It depends on the Person.
I normally drink Beer or Mead. A Mix with 3/4 Beer and 1/4 Mead does also taste very fine.
Mankind did always drink alcohol with their drinks, there is no reason why it would change.
And to the Moralist Faction: Jesus loves Wine! He loved Wine so much he turned Water into Wine. The thing he did with his Fellows on his last day was to drink a Wine with them.

Not very often - but if I go out to have Greek food it is a "must have" ~:cool:Quote:

I wouldn't say peppermint - it's an anise-flavoured liquor (so it actually tastes a bit like licorice) which would be similar to the Turkish Raki or the French PernodQuote:

But when jack the ripper made his appearence, prostitution shot down by over 75%. They were scared to death of it.
If you had one of him now, I would bet you everyone would be out of the bars before dark. And think, killing a drunk man or woman must be far easier than killing a prostitute. :duel:
BUT if you want a actual answer, you need way more police, for instance in Japan criminal capture rate is above 90% I believe it was 97% of all people who comit a crime are cought. that is in large part due to the second world war, now they really can't have a large army, because of the war, but now they have a very very large {and very well armed} police force. But I still think jack the ripper would be easier... <_<
raki is not so similar, only in matter of strength maybe. Raki is something like vodka or more accuratelly the home made russian samagone. Uzo is flavoured with ΓΛΥΚΑΝΙΣΟ glikaniso as we call it (i dont know the english word) Its easy to get drunk as its smooth to drink especially with ice in summer. If you enjoy it with good company in a good sea by taverna along with roast octapus with oregano and vinegar, then my friend you feel like king ~:)Quote:
