cause mtw was more or less accurate. Though if they were ever going to add priest to the battle front it should have been done in VI. The vikings often attacked monasteries forcing the monks to fight back, but even that doesnt really deserve a unit.

You like fantasy units fine, obviously alot of people here dont. Seing as most of the people who are complaining are probably the same people that have played all the games(at least more than rtw) and have always been there hard-core fanbase. When a game starts changing away from its hardcore fans the fans get mad. What do you expect. Im sure CA expected the reaction, but they were just trying to make RTW mainstream.
I don't like fantasy units, but i don't complain all the time. I wait until someone makes good/historic units, skins or a mod that is historical accurate. If you don't like the game, why don't you just tell CA, why don't you just make/wait for Mods? It's really pesky that every 2nd post is about how CA sucks...

I really dont think anybody said CA sucks, i know i didnt.
Complain ever two post? You have spent to much time in the colliseum. In the mainhall and sword dojo im pretty sure you will find little to no complaints about CA.
Of my over 1,000 post probably less than 10 were complaints about CA and maybe 50 trying to explain my postion like this, but id say thats a pretty fair ratio.

I dont/others here dont just tell Ca. I am eagerly waiting RTR and EB. And I also am making a mod, though it certainly isnt realism as I also love Fantasy. Just not when it's posed as realistic.
Obviously in a thread called a part of me died today, damn BI, there is going to be a lot of complaints.
So all in all we are doing the same thing. Waiting for a realism mod, though the difference is us complainers are giving our opinion and you are attacking an opinion. Do you realize that the point of a message board is to post your opinions. I guessing you dont realize that, but maybe one day...

Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
welcome to a forum. the sewer of opinions

Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
Irrelevant i just post here cause its the only place not dead
Why so much quiet in EB forum? i mean hello any preview? at least an announcement?
-
Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
EB said that there will be a preview this weekend!!
But I am still waiting ~;)
-
Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
well EB started lively, and there was much historicall debate. but now everybody knows EB's stances on 'all' points. it's pretty clear to me...
so now the forum is 'dying' untill the peview is here, and will rise from its ashes with the beta.i guess
-
Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
I hope that the open-beta would not take to long to be released by EB.
I think people will lose interest added to the fact that EB has difficutly to release weekly previews on time...
It was two weeks ago that the last preview was posted on this forum..
And before that they where often not on time.
I think the open-preview idea is a bit to much to handle for EB.
It takes allot of work and time to make a preview.
Maybe it is better to switch back to the old shorter weekly updates.
They where always on time and also very interesting.

Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
yeah man. So true. It's all about the overall -experience-, and one unit is going to spoil that experience, like it or not. Besides, fighting with clubs? look at that unit. It's nott holding any old club, it's a CRUCIFIX for god's sake. It's an act of sacrilege! You most holy icon is being used as an instrument of organised murder!
For that one unit alone, it's enough reason not to buy BI, because it's already not historical enough for us EB-fans, whose idols (Khelvan and gang) have shown us how historical it can be.
And if you think priests are not good enough a reason, here's another: Hundredmen Hall.

~ What is the hundredman hall? Did I miss something?
And why are priests in the armies?
And what are Sarmatians doing in the 300s AD as an organised kingdom?
And why this and why that... :dizzy2:
I feel like Hunter Thompson in Las Vegas: confused, scared, and out of his element. CA has lost too much historical authenticity- they can make a very good game, but they are going over the top with these wierd, Age Of Empires style abstractions.
-
Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
hundredmen hall is one of the new buildings for the barbs. To be fair though creating a unit recrution building for the barbs is already ahistorical, but it is needed for gameplay issues.

I couldnt agree more with you. It seems many factors (difficulty of the project, real life) affect the previews procedure. I think they better show independent units. It may be more messy but its something. This forum is starting to look like western gost town. :help:

Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
I prefer the big previews, gives an overall picture of the faction rather than fragmented unit profiles.

why do you think that. Eb has said that they have a couple previews ready for quick release.

Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
I'm going to get it 'cause to me it looks ok apart from the strange preists.
-
Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
Why is it such a big deal if the priest isn't historically accurate? The second unit looked alright, and I don't think all the units are going to be strange holy people like the Druids in standard RTW. Druids didn't ruin RTW, did they? If you don't like the Priests in your armies, it does'nt take great modding skills to remove them.
-
Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
Good point RTW King, it's as simple as that. I've removed all flaming oinkies, the nagg..whoops, "screeching" women, druids and "egyptian" chariots from vanilla rtw and now Ihaven't got much to complain about (unit wise).

Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
Hey, I've found proof in Google about the priest unit!:

Quote:
NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.
As for me, I'll wait for BI... in the Comfy Chair. ~;p

Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
Also i have a great respect for the immense work which CA`s teams have to do for the BI, i fear there will be more priests then druids and scalds etc in the northern Lands of the game and that means, again unhistorical setup!
Most of north europe was not ( or only some single tribes leader)realy cristianised before the year 1000 ad. And the first followers of rome`s new religion ended with they heads put on stakes, when visiting ireland sweden and norway.

Re: a part of me died today, damn BI
If they continue to do unhistoric applications they will ruin the TW series with their own hands. I shall not pay a penny to BI if CA make a new RTW imitation. They don't know what they do exactly. They ruined the epic battles, gameplay, historic basement and totaly the games itself. I play only the mods such as EB project. How can't they see their own created diehard fan's critics. RTW is a total and decisive a lost case to the teeth.
