very very interesting,
the above text file refers to co-ords in the SamS.bif file,
changing lines in these text files controls what action the unit willtake based on the images in the SamS.bif file,
HOWEVER (on this machine)
the images used come from SamS_H.bif
which are an entirely different set of co-ordinates!
So we use the sams.bif as a reference,
but must edit the SamS_H.bif to see changes on the battlefield
!
weird, confusing and just cost me 3 hours of editing - i had edited in one most of an entire action set for a nagi! into the nag.bif
BTW
I think the new video card in this machine is capable of displaying the High Res images
- when i ran the standing man quick test earlier in this thread i had a different video card...
that test was definately SamS.bif!
One other Problem
In order to fit the old naggy's complete with weapon into the space allowed I have to scale the image down,
http://doragonbarocca.homestead.com/...sc/compare.jpg
the difference in the image size between naggy and sam is quite noticeable.
what would you like me to do guys :-
Edit out the weapon and allow the 'new' naginata weapon to be used by the new images?
Or use the shrunken Naginata?
If I edit out the weapon we will lose the 'fighting style', complete with flashing weapons.
If i simply edit in the images we will have Dwarven Naginata...

Konnichiwa Barocca san,
Thank you very much for the hard work.
It's a shame to lose the nice fighting style, but introducing dwarfs is even nastier.

After many months of dispair on this front, success - well done...I can garuntee that I understood even less than Krae - but I did read all this thread, so I suppose that qualifies me for something...
well done!

Haha... COOL!!!!!
The Naginatas strike back!!! Yari Samurais tremble before their might!!!
Their small size makes sense as they would be hard to hit with arrows. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

so we have one vote for old weapon equipped dwarven Naginata,
and one for old image, new weapon, no fighting style, full size Naginata,
Editing in full size naginata, each image takes 30 minutes to cut, trim to size, edit out weapon, paste into place and then finesse it a little.
There are 144 images that need to be replaced - thats 72 hours of solid non-stop work,
I have to get positioning exact, then make sure that each image 'flows' into the next etc.
Editing in dwarven Naginata is going to take longer, I'd have to edit each image so it's not ugly, and then make them 'flow'...
Either way this is not going to be finshed tomorrow, or the next day
Why can't I just edit in the old Images?
Basically with the weapon included they are too tall. I would need 10 spaces that are half again as tall as the current YariSam images, and 2 of those would need to be as wide as they are tall (fighting).
2 more spaces that are the current size could be used to display dying Naganita.
Then I have 24 old Naginata Images to choose from, but we can only use 12.
While we could move all the current Images in the SamS_H.bif file around this would be a massive amount of work, (count the images and remember 12 frames)
Then we would need to edit XbowPage.txt, SamsPage.txt and NagsPage.txt in the actions folder, (and heaven know what else where else!) Just to get the adressing correct!
Personally i think full size, using current fighting style and i'll try and make the 'new' naginata (weapon) a bit shinier...
