Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I´m surprised no one mentioned Ghent yet. Probably many simply don´t know it. It´s a very beatiful city. Of course, Leuven has some nice architecture too:

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
There is a tiny town (admittedly, not a city) near Avingon, called Aix-En-Provence. (I think that's how it's spelled; my French is rustier than a Model T left out in the open for 15 years.) It is, in my opinion, the most beautiful civilized place on earth.

Imho Brugge is the most beautiful Belgian city.

Re : Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Bruges, Prague, Santiago de Compostella.
They're so beautiful they make me weep.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I can't see that any city is 'beautiful' myself

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
prague and florence are the correct answers. congrats to the winners!

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Any city is beatiful, but only if you visit.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I'm going for London (well, the middle bit)

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I'd have to go with Prague and Barcelona, as Ser Clegane did. Wonderful cities.
I haven't seen Bilbao mentioned. It's a very pretty city, especially along the river. The Guggenheim museum there is stunning.
I also like Naples, although in some areas it is also one of the dirtiest non-Jersey cities I've ever seen. It's very nice once you get away from the harbor.
Palma, Majorca is up there too. Very pretty city, wonderful views from the hills looking down to the sea.
Haifa, Israel is another city with wonderful views and is overall very pretty.
Dubai, UAE is quickly becoming a very pretty city as well. It is amazing to see it coming from the desert side. It just sort of appears like a jewel in the sand.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I love wandering around Rome as much for the atmosphere as any particular sight, and also have fond memories of the Toronto skyline seen from the lake an autumn day years ago, but I'd have to cast my vote for Durham. I was at university there and passed through again a couple of months ago and it was still as beautiful as ever, mix of the architecture and the River Wear and the hills give it a character Oxford and Cambridge don't have.

Re: Re : Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I've only been in two cities in France, Wissembourg and Straussbourg, and admittingly, I only liked Wissembourg (it's right on the boarder with Germany if you're wondering, Hitler built an Arch outside of it on the boarder, very beutiful area, nice wine country), but I've been to a few different cities in Germany.
The ones that stick out the most have to be Munich, Heidelburg, and Speyer. Incredebly Beutiful cities. Heidelburg is a very old town, most of the buildings look as if they were built in 1700 and remained perfectly preserved.
Here's the one picture I wasn't too lazy to take while I was there (I'm stealing some off of a few of my friends)

That's down the river that cuts through the center of it, from the non-historical district of the city.
For Munich, for those who have never seen it, it is truely a wonderful city.

This is from the building that the Glockenspiel is on, unfortunatly, I do not have a picture of the Glockenspiel.

This bronze statue of a boar is suposedly lucky if you rub it's nose, I rubbed it, and got beer later that day.

On the way to get beer, we found this. Maybe Clegane or some other German member can explain what this is to us. Nice architechture in the background; thats the street the Beerhall Pustch took place, you can see where the roadblock was.

I'll post some of Speyer, and Strausborg later, but that's Heidelburg and Munich. Two very wonderful cities that I love, despite me only being there once.

Re: Re : Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Nice to see that you had such a great time there. You make it sound like a dream come true, which it probably is. And from now on you'll know the full meaning of gepflegte Barock, don't you?
Well, do you? ~

It really was a dream come true. If only I could have stayed for longer, and seen Berlin...
Yes, I do think I know the real meaning of geplegte Barock (Baroque well maintained, correct?), now. Gott, Ich leibe Deutschland.

You will see Berlin one day. You'll be taking your girlfriend there, wanna bet?

Yes, something like 'carefully/lovingly crafted'. Actually it is untranslatable...

Me too. 'Cept for those leather trousers with the back and front flaps.
Did you wear them in Munich? Of course not. But did you want to?
Go on, admit it. ~;)

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I would say Granada. The mixture of Western and Islamic architecture works well and the Alhambra is just stunning.
