I can name numerous times Germany has projected their power.

Prussia-no comment needed (think Frederick the Great and his mentor, the Old Dessuar, or something like that)

Holy Roman Empire-conquered Italy, parts of France, Austrian Netherlands, the Papacy, Bohemia, halted the Magyar advance into Europe that probably would have destroyed England and France, who were involved in petty squabbling, interitance disputes, etc., Silesian subjects of the HRE helped halt the Mongol advance with Polish allies.

Hohenzollern Empire-spawned the world's best fighter pilot even, Von Ritchhofen, with 80 credited kills and 2 not credited. Was a powerful military force, it took a huge offensive to destroy.

Nazi Germany-Alright, think about it. If the Nazi party had had a tactical leader, instead of ruthless, they might well be controlling Europe and parts of Africa and Russia. EXTEMELY powerful, and they had unfair treaty terms imposed upon them at the end of WWI as well.

Germanic barbarians-In the front lines that took Rome. Of course, a bunch of traitors went to the Romans, but they were destroyed as well.

Today's Germany-Quite possibly the best trained regulars in the world, tied with Britain. Amazingly well equipped, even the British SAS and the Spainish buy (slightly degraded) German infantry guns. Perhaps we don't have the best of a Luftwaffe, but we can own in a land war, especially defensive.
