The only real "deadline" I would think would be to get the patch out before people open their RTW presents from whatever holiday gift thing they do. :) Or better yet somewhat before that so positive word of mouth can get around a bit so more people ask for, and or buy the expansion and game.
Great news, and as the others said, don't rush it!
It does harm to have more then 20 patches.Quote:

Really, if they can't fix a game after relasing 20 patches that only shows their incompetance.
I don't understand this one.Quote:

Needless to say people are mad as hell and there is even talk of a boycott of the expansion until they fix this.
Starcraft a game 8+ years old recieves a patch, now will CA release a patch for Shogun?Quote:

(Crossing my fingers hoping CA can figure out how to get ranged units and skirmishers to actually do their duty on a regular basis. It would really help the AI.)

You guys should stop attack Hellenes, he makes an excellent point. I used to play (and should go back...) WC3 and Half-Life quite a bit, both are excellent games, and what makes them even more great is that they are constantly updated and have gone through many many patches that would elminate many of the "structural" bugs (like the memory leak, load-save issues) as well as addressing the harder to fix balancing issues.
RTW is indeed a great game, but it is not nearly as great as it could be because it has so many issues.
Basically RTW's support is not up to par with the quality of the game, and it really hurts it, especially since we know other great games out there, that have such high quality support.
I say release a patch (1.3b?) as soon as possible that deals with "structural" bugs (like the memory leak, load-save issues) so we can play the game without a hassel, then release all the balancing junk in a patch later.
Is there any NEED for patch for Shogun?Quote:

Its great news about the patch.
Imho nobody should be comparing Blizzard to CA as an example to look up to. Ive had several bad experiences with them. Im no talking about Quality of game, yes they have good devs but their Good *support* as you put it is seriously lacking in many areas. Areas that I think CA could have a pat on the back for.
Ive just cancelled my WoW account because of these *issues* with Blizzard. The Game was fine (and please dont think your a class above mmorpg gamers) but Blizzards *people* policies were not.
Another Game I play - well series of games are the X:BTF X2: the Threat and recently the extremely buggy and poorly released X3: The reunion by Egosoft, published by Deepsilver....and boy is that game buggy. So buggy that they had a patch out 2 days after shipping and another 2 weeks later. Now its 6 weeks later and they are nearly finished on another patch.
My point is that although Im really frustrated at small companies releasing buggy games (due to publisher pressure), and I personally find it insulting to consumers that we let them do this - I really enjoy the games and dont want to see them dropped. (Egosoft is reknown for supporting games for years after though and then after fixing the game - they add HUGE amounts of new content free - they did this with X2 2 years after publication)
So all this bickering about support and who supports who the best is irrelevant because they are too many variables and complications and points of view to consider.
Indeed it does. Thank you very much  .Quote:

probably both (I hope)
I think both as well.
The pilum bug is in both so it is probably a universal problem.
Excellent CF, looking forward to it.

Will someone with the necessary powers rate this thread CA please?
.
Hmmm Great news for sure! even tho i only knoticed 2 major bugs... the Men getting stuck in tower and not allowing more up bug (AI) and the memory leak, three if you count the fact the fact that my assassain killed a faction heir with a 2 percent chance but that was just luck ~DQuote:

I guess you could use a patch yourself if you even try stuff at those odds! ~;) Do you ever play poker? And where? ~D ~:cheers:Quote:

Way to go CA!

I get the distinct impression that any decisions regarding patches are the domain of the publisher, not the developer.
But its still good to see CA and/or SEGA have decided to do a patch.
They can take as long as they like as far as I'm concerned. The more comprehensive and bug-free the better.
Edit: oops, my bad. Never mind.
I think that post is talking about 1.2 patch. ~:)Quote:

Some more information for you - http://www.totalwar.com/community/romereadme.htm - in this case what the patch will cover.
Hope that's useful. ~:)

Thanks for getting rid of the memory leak among others. ~:)

What are "shadow factions"? The Roman Rebels? The Romano-British?
