I am not exactly sure how it works, but Hero King's have got a separate file. If you have a prince born around the same time as the hero and with the same name, he will share characteristics with this hero. But I have never seen an English Richard that was worthy of the title Lionheart. Mind you, that may have been because they had the misfortune of facing me  .

I have wondered about that too. Perhaps it is so people will develop them some?
Re: Strongbow Fitzgilbert
Ciaran, well, that was my mistake. Get rid of the roman numeral and it will make sense lol.
Re: Strongbow Fitzgilbert
Begin training royal knights at 114, so come 1115 you have an über immortal general.

It doesn't change the name though I thought? then if you get a hero King, the name stays Karolingian.
I meant I was trying to get a Hofenstaffen general called Frederick (I can't remember if it's actually a surname, I might of added it, I did add names to Ireland and Scotland in XL anyway.), become King through civil war.
I was a little unclear, sorry.

No, I misread your post. My mistake  .
I recall that, after a civil war the name of the royal line stays the same, but I could be wrong. It has been a while since I played the game (though lack of time and troubles with my speakers; if anybody could help me out in the Tech Library I would be very grateful...)
Re: Strongbow Fitzgilbert
I think if you start in High era, the surname of the HRE imperial family is Hohenstaufen. So the name might depend on the starting era.
