Plumata?Haven't heard about that type of armor before.Anyway lorica segmentata wasn't widely used till 1-100ad and went in decline after that period.

I think that lorica plumata was an expensive form of armor for officer's that was sort of like a combination of chain and scale mail.

Take a look,looks more like scale,the chain is behind the scale unlike Squamata which is just scale.

The legionnaires were trained with, and carried slings. The problem with representing them as a separate unit is that they weren't - and generally they didn't use the sling except in the event of a siege.

Unforntunately R:TWs rigid two weapons per unit system does not allow us to potray the flexibility of real soldiers accurately.
Evidence for the regular use of slingers is abundant, even for augustean period in central europe, from the occupation of raetia and drusus early campaigns to Teutoburg, Germanicus and beyond, some in a non siege context. Also not mentioned as seperate unit earlier Germanicus slingers operated idependently from the legions during the assault against the earthworks of the agrivarii that marked there border with the cheruscii during his campaign in 16 AD, when his army attacked in a regular battle formation.

Yeah it looks better and protects the arms,very nice armor:2thumbsup:

It is called plumata, because as the individual scales are only fixed at the top, wind could blow under and make it stand up as the feathers of a bird when it is cold.

Hmm well now i can add plumata to my dictionary and find out where to buy some lol thanks alot!
