Yeah, I've lied to make a point.
Lying to prove your point is the best way to win an argument against an idiot.
Here: no, but I've been proved incorrect on several occasions.
In general: of course. Especially when the person you're facing refuses key facets of the way the world works.

I throw in little things about my location to throw anyone off who may be trying to find out where I live:inquisitive: All the major stuff I say about is true though.
I havn't Lied to prove my point...Dan Brown has but thats a different story.
I can't remember lying deliberately to prove a point, but I have used supporting arguments that were poorly researched and unfounded, and which later turned out to be false. I've passed on hearsay without knowing or checking the source of it. These days I try to be much more careful, now that I know how many fallacies are circulating out there.
Even the best of us can be fooled, but it's irresponsible to pass on questionable "facts," especially when the means to check them are readily available. I've been guilty of this error. :shame:
