What happened to soly's "graphic images from israel/lebanon" thread?

Actually, going through the original thread, your "friendly" thread in the Backroom and this thread here it seems, that of the patrons who posted in either of those threads, you are the only one stating that he made the claims that the pictures were his.

Also, I am not aware of "many intelligent, rational posters" having been "turned away".
The only patron who is frequently complaing about the moderator solypsist, is a patron who frequently receives warnings for forum rule violations from various moderators and who regularly tries to propagate "views" that leave the Backroom-"liberals" appalled and the Backroom-"conservatives" shaking their heads in pure disbelief...

I was debating whether to actually just PM Solypsist, not because I thought he was a phoney, but because I figured other people read Newsweek and if he wanted to protect his privacy, he should remove that specific photo. I even speculated that it was possible that the photos were fake, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Either way, if I were to have just PMed him, his "secret" (that he is either a fraud or Nasser Nasser) would have been protected. After all, I really don't give a damn whether he's a photographer or a 300 lb middle aged loser living in the basement o fhius parents house. This is a cult video game forum and every one of us has at least 10% complete douche geek nerd in our blood. In other words, what would it matter either way?

Against my better judgement, I placed my observation in the public thread. I figured he had a perfectly good explanation and would probably provide one. It was, in fact, my faith that he is not a fraud that compelled me not to PM him. I stated specifically: Well, these means one of two things.

Well, so much for that idea. Now we have a retarded discussion. So, in the interest of integrity, I posted what info I had on the matter. I don't make any claim as to wtf is going on here, and I think most folks here don't think I am either. To be honest, I did get the impression that Soly took these photos or said that he took these photos. Whether I misread something or missed a line is on me.

I think the only thing that is stirring up the shark(s) is that the thread was deleted. But you know what? He could have deleted them for any number of reasons. But you know what is most likeyl? He probably said "Oh crap, that's right. I don't want to get sued because I don't own these anymore. Oh crap, I don't have time to deal with this nonsense right now, because I'm in boomskiville with sketchy net access. I'll deal with this later." *thread delete*


Bottom line: Who cares either way, because, I repeat, This is a cult video game forum and every one of us is at least partially a ***ing dork anyway.

now multiply this by about a hundred, and then think about what's laying around in the street

The picture shows a soldier stepping over a corpse in a passageway , it is not the corpse of a baby .

Possibly Dave , but to be honest I am surprised the pictures stayed up as long as they did due to some of their content , many news agencies have withdrawn those and similar others from their sites .
I suppose the mods could have just deleted the pictures(the more graphic ones anyway as it is a PGsite ) and left just the words , but what is a topic about pictures without pictures ?

It's entirely possible that he only meant to delete his first post in the thread. As he was the thread starter, deleting the first post would automatically delete the entire thread. A mod can edit the thread to ressurect the remaining posts, but this needs to be done manually, and that takes time and specific know-how. It's possible he had neither of these. Assuming, of course, that it was Soly who deleted the thread: going on the description of others, it would seem to content might have been a bit too much for the Org.

Back to the topic on hand. I believe that if the backroom has that video thread, which BTW has sites that contains porn (badjojo being one that a mod posted) then the pictures of the caualties of war should be allowed imo. Considering we are playing a game in which thousands upon thousands are slaughter and the intent of Soly to post the pics were "to maybe change the minds of the more gungho" (not an exact quote, but I can't get the exact quote for obvious reasons) I believe the content was justified. So much of the moderation in the backroom is subjected to personal biases its impossible to keep everyone happy. I say there will be a time when one of two extremed will happen. Either the backroom will become a no holds barred forum, or it will be closed down. I guess we'll see.

Soly has deleted a thread with pics before, it wasn't a big deal then because they were just buildings from Japan and not political.

My guess is that he wants to protect the authenticity.

since no one seems to know anything about this issue except soly, and since some of the ignoble members of this board are using this thread to sling their typical offal, could a mod please lock this thread? it no longer serves any purpose.
