Re: I have lost my patience!
Okay, now you have the skipcredits.txt right ? :
Here :
https://img518.imageshack.us/img518/...werror1jz7.jpg
You're going to want to get it over here :

Note : when I said, get it over there, I meant in the folder of course.
You can find your Medieval Total War folder By Using your Run feature, which you can find by clicking ''Start'':

So, copy your skipcredits.txt, go to your Medieval folder, and paste.

Re: I have lost my patience!
What do you mean by correct? If you mean if I have accessed this by notepad, then yes...but it seems this might have a couple more folders/files in it. But other than that they are virtually identical.

Re: I have lost my patience!
Yes, I found this link with the one Caravel supplied. I copied and pasted my skipcredits ((because that was how it was supposed to be named)) and exited the folder. Then I tried the game again and the same thing happened...again. Should I try skipcredits.txt?

Yes, why not - you have nothing to lose.

Re: I have lost my patience!
:wall: Same old same old. Does it matter that I have the Gold Edition? i bought it with the rest of the Total War Eras package just in case i didn't say it already.
Almost everytime i start the game up I hear the sound just for a split second of the Total War sign, then it stops, the game pops up with the sign and sound, then the error occurs right after the sign ends.
Also, that flag emblem for the game that your arrow was pointing at. Thats not in my folder, all I have of that is on my desktop as a shortcut to the game and it doesent have under it what is typed under yours.

Re: I have lost my patience!
Also, just to give you any information that might be of any help whatsoever, In my saved games folder I still have saves from my past MTW that was not gold and didn't have VI or any patches that I downloaded. It's deleted now but the saves are still here.
Don't know what help this is but i'm just trying to help:sweatdrop:

Re: I have lost my patience!
That flag was for a Viking Invasion game, the expansion pack.
But don't worry, that is the folder you needed, even if mine looked a bit different. Unless of course, you installed the game in a custom folder - but I do doubt that, you'd have to fill that in while installing the game, which you most certainly did not.
Anyway, you could try ''fixing'' the game. Go to start, system config, software, Medieval Total War, click the button that says ''delete/change(?). A screen should come up asking you if you wish to remove or change (probably a different word) or fix Medieval Total War. You should try Fixing it, that should be an option in that same screen. Try it.
That seems to have somehow worked for some people who had the same problem only with msn messenger.

Re: I have lost my patience!
Ummm, I didn't find system config but I assumed you ultimately wanted me to go to, my computer, then add or remove programs. right? Sometimes you have the option to remove or "change". this game just has remove though!
-
Re: I have lost my patience!
Well for what it's worth, this is what I mean with System Config:

Although I doubt you'd get another result than you already got.
You're problem seems to be pretty resistant, and hard to solve, you should seriously consider re-installing Windows.

Re: I have lost my patience!
WAIT! I found the right folder! I clicked on start and copied the MTW gold file thingy into Run. The game pops up and there are no credits. But now when I try to start up a new game it loads and then deletes it self and the game and goes back to the desktop. We've made progress but now I've got this problem.
So far I've tried early period england on normal, and early period Hungary on normal. But both wouldn't work. What should I do now?
Quick battles work.

Re: I have lost my patience!
Try changing the anti-aliasing setting of your video card:
Change it from 0 to 2.
https://img377.imageshack.us/img377/...werror5ch3.jpg
That should solve it
:balloon2:

Re: I have lost my patience!
Uh, don't know exactly how to get there.:help:
-
Re: I have lost my patience!
On the lower right corner of your screen (where the time is located) there should be an arrow buttun, which, when you click on it shows a couple of running programs. Now if you have a Nvidia card there should be a little icon saying Nvidia Settings, click on it, then you simply move your mouse over the options like shown in the screenshot two posts back.
Then change it (the anti-aliasing level) from 0 (that's probably your current setting) to 2 - which should solve the problem.

Re: I have lost my patience!
Well done Derfasciti! I was actually beginning to think you were a secret .org agent sent here to test us! :laugh4:
I'm now, quite predictably, off to start another MTW campaign. My previous one (the Danes/Early/Hard) went rather well. :2thumbsup:

An improperly resurrected thread? Such things can be dangerous. I wouldn't be at surprised if Mephistopheles himself turned up... what a mess.

Here we go again...
