Yeah, go for Denmark I want Scotland!
the game is coming along smoothly. We are about 40% finished. I'm just gonna talk a little bit more about the game to give prospective players a deeper view.
12CG is based (at least in this version of the game) in A.D.1080, in Europe. The Carolingian Empire has fragmented and Nobles across Europe bicker and fight to improve their standing in the eye's of their peers. By playing 12CG you will become a noble dynasty.* With your family leader and other family members you can recruit great hosts of men to swarm across Europe consolidating the old empire.
If conquest is not your preferred game style, 12CG offers trade and economics rules that will keep you on your toes for making good trade links. A clever player can amass an entire fortune without a swing of his sword.
If you are not an entreprenuer, perhaps you can dominate the political world. Gain influence in the world by holding powerful titles. Make friends with characters in high places. Marry your sons and daughters to other political persons to gain that extra advantage over your rivals.
Keep your citizens happy with festivals and celebrations, or they may decide its high-time for another person to take hold of the title. Keep your nobles in line with authority and if needed force. No man is a friend, as all are vying for power.
Build great Colleges & Universities, and open your arms to the world of science and technology. Or follow a more conservative and devout path, with strict obediance to Mother Church.
Warning: This game is firstly quite addictive, and secondly quite time-consuming to play. We have tried to make it easier to play than v1.0, and will be continuing to do so throughout the v2.0 game. As such I would estimate that half an hour a day would suffice to play this game.
* - I would like to point out that as such, you do not technically play as The Kingdom of England. That is a title not a faction. Our faction's are based upon families, so we call them Dynasties.
Twelth Century Glory set in the 11th century. Huh.Quote:

If there is big interest in the game, we will slowly add parts to the map such as Iberia, and open up factions there. It all depends on the amount of interest though, if all faction spots get filled (roughly 70 at the moment!) then we will know the game is worthwhile, and so will expand it.
So 12CG veterans, invite all your friends to come and play, the more players the better the game.
The forums are now back online. Most is read only for the time being. ~:)
In case anyone's wondering, the reason we cut out Iberia and the Middle East was because there weren't enough players. The problem in the original game was that all the players were spread out, which meant that there were some factions that struggled, while others(e.g. Flanders) that became a powerhouse very quickly.
its also far too much information to gather to start the game soon. ~:)
So I guess me signing up as Kingdom of Jerusalem is out of the question?
Also, is this just a roleplay thing or is it an actual game?
Lord Cazaric,
By what do you mean by game? If you mean something that has graphics and such, then no it's not a game. (it's not MTW2 but online) however, theoretically we are hoping to get something more "game-like" in the future.
It's a forum game, much like the IH's here but much more organized and many more options to choose from. We do roleplay as that is what makes it fun (at least for me). It's necessary to interact with fellow rulers and your vassals (both NPC and player) and there are many diplomatic and military elements. Perhaps someone else can explain this better than I can.
I strongly suggest you check it out. Especially if you like history like all of us do I'm sure :charge:
I'm an addict myself.:2thumbsup:
Sorry to be Mr. Know-It-All but:Quote:

BoRNholm.
Need I point out that Sweden did not exist by this time?
UMED (I suppose this means Umeå) was not founded untill the 16th/17th century. The area was largely uninhabitet apart from samis by the 12th century.
The same goes for Karlstad (except this area was inhabitated, Värlmand partly belonged to Norway though).
It should be Kalmar or Calmare if you want to stick to the medieval spelling.
Visby was a town in the hands of the Hanseatic League and was rather independant. Gotland however were tax-payers though the revolted every know and then.
And need I even point out that these counties never existed?
Suggested list of counties (still far from historical):
County of Axvall/Lödöse/Skara (Westrogothia)
County of Jönköping (Småland, practically a village by this time but anyway)
County of Kalmar (The more coastal areas of Småland)
County of Växjö (Southern Småland/borderlands to Danish Scania)
County of Linköping (instead of Norrköping, Eastrogothia)
County of Strängnäs (Närke)
County of Örebro/Arboga (Värmland)
County of Västerås (Västmanland)
If you still need more lands north of Stockholm then you can add:
County of Uppsala (archdiocese, Uppland)
County of Gävle (Gästrikland)
And then onto Finland:
County of Åbo (Turku)
County of Tavastehus (Hämeenlinna, borders with Novgorod)
County of Viborg (Karelia, borders with Novgorod)
Quite a bit of namedropping, isn't it?:clown: The underlined ones are the more important ones if you want to reduce the number somewhat (which I believe you will).
Thank you Innocentius for your thoughts.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by not a Kingdom yet, as the research I have done seems to point towards some kind of ruling authority. Last game Sweden had 2 Kings!
As to the Hanseatic League it wasn't founded for a good few years after 1080 I believe, so not just yet. ~:)
Goteburg was supposed to be the Danish lands on mainland southern Sweden.
This is the rough map we have been working from. http://www.euratlas.com/big/europe_1100.jpg
Either way Sweden is no longer a starting faction as we have downsized the map to begin. But may enter the game later if the map expands. I thank you for this new information as it will help setting it up for later. ~:)
------------
Following up on Derfasciti's comments, the game is a forum-based RPG TBS. You can view how to play 12CG in this forum http://z14.invisionfree.com/12th_Cen...?showforum=411
Sweden was technically not a proper kingdom untill the mid-to-late 13th century. The first one who can be considered real king of Sweden is Magnus Ladulås (reign 1275/1280-1290). Before that Sweden was too split geographically and politically to be considered a country. It took untill the late 14th or early 15th century before the term "Swedish" appeared. Before that, the inhabitants considered themselves Eastrogoths (östgötar), Westrogoths (västgötar), Svear or whatever.Quote:
