Maybe an expansion for M2 centered around the Viking expansion throughout Europe. Instead of becoming princesses, daughters of named characters who show a potential for fighting can become shieldmaidens.
I'm thinking of people like Boudicca, Joan d'Arc, Isabella of Lorraine, etc.
-
Re: Friendly neighborhood Spam thread
Boudica may be slightly too early for the Medieval era, considering her rebellion was against the Romans in Britain.
I agree about the rest, though.

The famous Joan d'Arc was in the older M:TW as a "hero" general - basically a historical general who was scripted to appear at a certain date. A very interesting woman to play with, I can tell you - especially since she started with such an almighty command rating. If, when I gained her, she hadn't have died in her second epic battle against the English, she probably could have become something ever better than she already was. Such a shame she emerged in a unit of peasants.

Re: Friendly neighborhood Spam thread
Yeah, but someone said once "While playing Total War, you can rewrite History, so making scripted events is kind of nonsensical."
Of course, a campaign centered around the 100 years war with a Joan of Arc scripted event would be nice.
-
Re: Friendly neighborhood Spam thread
I understand what you mean Warmaster Horus. However, if the game was to develop some way of measuring more detailed and precise conditions for scripted generals to appear, then perhaps it could work to a more realistic and satisfactory standard.

I must get MTW working on my PC :wall: (horrible battle lag, posted in the Apothecary).

Yep, I meant TW as a series. I wish we'd seen more scripted extras in Rome (Hannibal springs to mind) though it ends a little early for Boudicca's rebellion of 60AD-ish.

True, could have scripted stuff triggered only if certain conditions are met though, change history enough and it never happens :dizzy2:
I just think it adds to the games - I love RTW, but it doesn't feel that historical compared to STW and MTW.

1. Flanders was a very rich region during Medieval times. English wool was imported and transformed into wonderful tapestries.
2. They destroyed a very powerful French army (golden spurs) using "town militia"
3. The fist major trade routes in Europe during the Middle ages were between the Italian city states and Flanders.
4. They have very good beer.
5. En aangezien we hier ook in andere talen moeten communiceren Belgen (Flamingen) zijn soms net mensen.
