True; but at the resolution I run, even 700*125 looks small - and speaking from a graphics perspective, I think that the other would give some much needed space.Quote:

Hello,
Thanks for all the feedback.
We'll go for 700*125, that's one that seems to work on 1024*768 screenresolution. If it turns out to cause problems for one reason or the other, it should be fairly easy to rescale it a bit quickly, while keeping the proportions.
The banners are to draw extra attention to mods/guides and need to be showed. Banners of many kb will become a burden for narrowband users and advertising will become anti-advertising. As there are 16% more pixels than in sig pics, 15 kb max should be sufficient for a good graphic?

At that size, ideally we'd want at least 100kb to play with, but I understand that if we need to deal with narrowband users, that amount on a rotation is impossible.
The only thing I could think of is somehow tieing the feature to the 'enable broadband sig' option in the profile (with a high-res and low-res version of the banners); but that may be more trouble than simply accepting the restricting size...
Hello,
100 kb is way too much for narrowbanders considering you will have many different banners (one for each mod).
There isn't an option to display high- or low res right now. So for now a choice has to be made:
-1. it's advertising for your mod and you want to reach as many people as possible. -> 700*125 @ 15 kb
-2. reach less people, only those who have BB enabled. -> 700*125 @ ? kb
-3. Settle for a smaller image, but higer quality. 100*100 @ 15 kb
-4. One static image per forum (category) for a featured mod for one week. In other words: only 1 banner per week.
-5. As 4, but maybe the code can be changed to change the content once per xx minutes.
Perhaps people can tell their choice? 5 is a maybe, so also pick another if you want that.
Out of those, I'd have to go for #1

Do you have a mod for STW, MTW, RTW, M2TW or maybe you want to focus attention on a topic in the GameRoom or a MP tourney or any other event? Make a banner of 700*125 pixels and max 15 kb large, write a brief text for the ALT tag, together with the URL to the forum/topic and PM or e-mail it to me.
