A game costs 30 pounds at most, a car that isn't going to fall apart costs somewhat more than that.
I get what your trying to get at, but the fact games are relatively cheap in comparison and the fact that they are less essential by far than other things means they can get away with it.

I suppose it's a bit much to expect people to trust in the reliability and reputation of a magazine that they don't know. That's fair enough - healthy scepticism. It's also understandable that people are a pretty cynical towards reviews and reviewers in general; there are a lot of duff ones out there.
Ah well... the review made me more excited about the expansion, but with hindsight it was a pretty pointless topic to post... Soz. :beam: :whip:
There's nothing wrong with enthusiasm, big guy. You like what you like. Personally, I'm looking forward to Kingdoms too, bugs and all.
I enjoy the campaign side of M2TW, but for me, the combat isn't as fun as RTW. I went back to RTW/BI these last few days just to play some combat sequences instead of autoresolving, like I'm doing in M2TW.
I'm sure I'll eventually get back into the combat in M2TW. I like the units and the variety. It's just that the fluidness of the combat is not as good, to me, as in RTW.
I'm hoping that there might be some improvement in Kingdoms. Plus, I'd love to try my hand at slaughtering Aztecs (with apologies to Russell Means.) :beam:
I'd also like to play the Crusades campaign. Even the Britannica (sp., it's getting late and I'm sleepy) has some appeal to me. Playing the Welsh or the Scots would be fun. So, I probably won't wait too long after release to buy a copy.

a teenager isnt exactly making a few k a month... and not everyone is blessed with rich parents... and its not about the money but avbout the principle.
Re: Kingdoms PCZONE Review - Thumbs Up!
I don't feel the bugs are gamebreaking, really. Rome's problems were far, far deeper, at a fundamental level. Cavalry being superior to spear infantry, for one.
Some of my favourite games are bug ridden messes. Fallout anyone? Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
Medieval Total War 2 is bugfree in comparisson.
Re: Kingdoms PCZONE Review - Thumbs Up!
The bugs are now of a minor sort. I will buy this on release.

My subscription pays for itself if it keeps me from buying one :elephant: game. I started subscribing years ago when a particular franchise put out a :elephant: sequel.
Besides, I can't lug my PC into the "Throne Room" if you now what I mean.:laugh4:
Someone just discovered the dancing pink elephant smiley! I remember my first time...
Anyway, I'm not that cynical. I expect a few bugs, but I think Kingdoms will be pretty good. I read in some article it is very, very fun and some of the campaigns, America especially, provide one with challenges.

The :elephant: smiley is my version of Tosa's :daisy: for creative post editing ~;)
And hey, I think we'll get our money's worth with Kingdom
Re: Kingdoms PCZONE Review - Thumbs Up!
Well I am looking forward to both playing Kingdoms and to seeing my favourite mods (full size campaign map and all) ported over to Kingdoms..
Re: Kingdoms PCZONE Review - Thumbs Up!
In general I found review in PCGamer UK reliable and informative; more recently, too many things seem to be getting too high a score. In particular, Silent Hunter IV springs to mind. I didn't buy it myself, a flatmate did, and rarely have I seen such a bug-ridden game that should never have been released in the state it was. That a review doesn't make clear mention of the fact while it is obvious to all who have played ever so briefly is disgusting.

hmm that was only because of the jumpthingie and the ridicilous huge size of cavalry compared to infantry... it was fixed rather quick... and atleast in RTW al the units worked... in MTW pikes dont properly and easily work, nor does 2handed weapons (theyre not entirely fixed) and the game has been dumbed down so much its annoying... cmon what are smilies doing in a WAR GAME... FCS...
