Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
Folks, there are no seperate categories.
There's no need to, most screenshot competition winners were unedited or non edited screens. An edited screen can only win if it was already a great screenshot before the editing. The editing might help though, but the original screenchots (the angle, view, idea of size,...) still is the most important factor.

(Click on the picture for a bigger version. Imageshack makes the picture smaller, and junsele [another upload site, if you're wondering] won't show in the thread using the basic IMG tags. I know no other sites except one that's usually better than both IMO, but it seems to be down.)

Thanks! There's a bigger version of it that you can see if you click on it now. It's even better that way. ~:)

Are you sure? It seems to be pixellated on my screen when in full size.

Hmm... you're right. I'll see if I can fix that. Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't notice it myself. :sweatdrop:
Edit: How about now?

Wow, thanks. But I'm afraid I don't know what u mean by low resolution. How is it different than any other picture? Is there any way I can fix it?

Nice shot Vicious Monkey. :2thumbsup:

Thank you, that sounds very nice. Unfortunately I won't change my EB-build mid-campaign because I think it won't be savegame-compatible. And when I'm done with Makedonia I will most likely not immediately start another Mak-campaign again... I'll try something like Carthage then, or Rome, or Lusitania. Maybe another Mak-campaign in EB2. I'd love to have all those sweet Rhompaiaphoroi and Lonchophoroi.~:0

To get the best out of your screenshots, make sure you use the highest graphics settings, especially "unit details", when capturing the picture. Also high anti-aliasing or higher resolution is a priority. If you look at your shot, the Macedonian banner is very pixellated, with rough edges, where as if you look at the Mac banner in my shot, the edges are as smooth as a... well, you get the point. That's the power of 8X anti-aliasing.
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
I see. Well, all my graphics settings were maxed out, and as far as I can tell it's impossible to edit anti-aliasing (the tab in video options is greyed out) and I left resolution at what it was.
Thank you for your gracious help though, Thaatu. I will remember it in the future.

Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
some very nice screenshots
I'm thinking of maybe buying RTW, not sure if I should get the expansions as well, as am not sure if they are any good?
But the thing that would really drive me to buying RTW is the Europa Barbarorum mod, as it looks excellent. I looked at the official website, and installing it seems to be quite simple, so hopefully that's the case.
Although I'm not sure how far the team is in developing EB2, and am not sure if that would be better, or would be best to get RTW anyway. (I've currently got MTW Gold (with Viking Invasion) & M2TW
I'm very interested in this era as well, and some of the tribes too.
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
RTW is a good investment, and cheap, BI shouldnt be too expensive either you should grab that too, but the Alexander campaign i hear is a waste.
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
For the immediate future playing EB, buying RTW (and possibly BI) is a better bet than waiting for EB2. It will take quite some time to migrate.
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
thanks for the info
I'd at least def. want to get Barbarian Invasion expansion, I actually saw in Game (UK Shop) they have in a local store Rome: Total War Anthology (all three) for £17.99 so might end up getting that
As I haven't played RTW, and haven't read too much, I'm not sure how similiar / different EB is for example to BI, but it does seem to have many playable factions.
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
RTW is a great game regardless, and EB adds a whole lot to make it far better. And it's definitely available on the cheap; I think I've seen it and the two expansion packs on sale here for fifteen euros for all three.

Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
May I ask what anti-aliasing actually is?:dizzy2:
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
i dunno what it exactly is, but im pretty sure it makes the game have a smoother look... no stairway lines......
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
nice, looks like it's very likely I'll be buying the game

In digital signal processing, anti-aliasing is the technique of minimizing the distortion artifacts known as aliasing when representing a high-resolution signal at a lower resolution. Anti-aliasing is used in digital photography, computer graphics, digital audio, and many other domains.
I found it scary that I can understand the english article at wikipedia better than the german one....

Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
Currently I'm downloading the EB Mod (081aFinalv2)
and afterwards will download Patch 1.3 and 1.5 for RTW (not sure which version the anthology version comes patched as)
Reminds me the time (recently) before I bought M2TW, I downloaded the 1.2 patch so I didn't have to wait as long to play it 'up to date'
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
I'd assume that it would be at 1.5/1.6, seeing as it's the 'final' version, as it were.
If not, however - and you can check by running the game and looking at Options, I believe - then install patches first, and then install EB.
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
ah OK
that's good
I just hope the mod will work, as I really want to play it
it's also the first Total War Mod I'm going to have as well
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
OK, also go here and download the permanent fixes to 0.81av2 after you download and install it.
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
thanks
arghh I didn't know I had to download all those files too
quite confused, as I thought what I'm downloading now is the final version, but I guess there are some errors people get.
I'd also need to get a new zip programme, as I can't open 7-zip formats.
-
Re: Screenshot of the Month Submission Thread (September)
You need WinRAR I believe, and you just need R:TW 1.5 (you can have BI and Alex if you want); then instal EB 0.81av2 and then install the permanent fixes.
Then you're good to go!
