Bad idea. Credit cards and paypal charge 2.5% fee for currency exchanges. So if you buy US $$ with a Canadian credit card the exchange rate will be off (lower) by 2.5%.

Fine then! Rain on my parade. Be like that. :disappointed:
(But I'm still going to buy something because your 2.5% beats the guacamole out of the 10 to 20% we've been paying for ages.)

Indeed congradulations, here is hoping it surpasses the dollar soon.

Finally all those Canadians will stop coming down here and stealing all our jobs! :smash:

That 2.5% would be there all the time so it would have been 12.5 to 22.5% before. :laugh4:

We have our own illegals we don't need your Mexicans. We do it the proper British way. Let a few Indian/Pakistani couples come, and then let them bring every relation and best friend they can lay their hands to and get them here. Often legally. Also we already import Mexicans to do the menial farm labour every year. Keep close tabs on them and ship everyone of them back when they are done.

Until America is completely taken over by Mexico, Canada won't share the vital border that makes illegal immigration a fact of life. No exchange rate will shore this up, just plain old enforcing the laws on corrupt businesses that feed the problem.

I agree about the laws, if I had my way redeployed forces from Iraq would be sent to the mexican border and retrained as sharpshooters.
Since I know this is highly unlikely, what I can at least hope for is that the economics of illegal immigration help to stem the tide. If the dollar is weak, illegals might go elsewhere.
But you are correct the laws on the books should be funded and enforced first.
Re: Congratulations, Canada!
I doubt that the Exchange Rate would make a huge difference in a person deciding where to move to. Often those who ilegally migrate haven't enough money in the first place to have it make any meaningful difference and they probably don't really know much about the exchange rate, or how it works.
