Re: Cheating
Well I must admit I use the cheat a bit, but not to spam forces, or expand a la Blitz.
It bothers me that I sometimes cheat(depends who I'm playing).
The problem for me is the way I play. I hate not being able to build as I rarely expand much until I can build good troops(not that my forces are full of elites), not because I can't win with poor troops, but because I don't like using them.
So for me I it takes 'ages' until I move off the bat and a game that stagnates through slow growth needs a little help IMO, according to my 'style' of play.
By the time I really move off the AI is fielding some pretty decent forces.

Re: Cheating
I don't cheat because I don't know how to. Where can I find out?
I would like to use auto_win when I've got a battle I know I'll win but don't want to spend 30mins fighting.
I would never use it if I make the mistake and get ambushed etc or the classic when I lost 3 veteran 2 silver chevron legions to Pirates!

Re: Cheating
Well it's simple. You press the ~ button. A command console will open (during campaign) you type auto_win [space] followed by "defender" or "attacker" whichever side you want to win. For example:
auto_win defender
Another much used code is add_money. It works just the same, except that you'll have to specify a certain amount of money. However the command will give 40.000 max and -40.000 min.
For example:
add_money 30000
this will give the player a cash bonus of 30000.
You can also specify another faction for example:
add_money romans_julii, -20000
This will lower the AI faction's treasuy with 20000. However note that the faction names must be the internal ones, the ones used in the files. For Arche Seleukeia for example you need to use romans_julii.

Re: Cheating
And a cheat that I use quite frankly in all campaigns is "toggle_fow". I usually know what is going on in the lands around my provinces by spies, diplomats and towers (BTW, have you seen the prices for towers and forts in EB 1.0? :2thumbsup: ), but I am curious what 'the others' are doing and I am to lazy to move around half a dozend spies every turn to find out.

Re: Cheating
I use the move_character cheat to place watchtowers in a province, because having family members running around for years placing them (and getting exhausted and similar traits as a result) seems a bit silly to me. I'd rather have the MTW system back where you would build a complete intelligence network by constructing the "watch tower" building, but that's not how RTW works.
Other than that, I sometimes use auto_win against brigands when I don't want to fight them myself, but would've won easily if I did.
So while I do use some of the "cheat" commands, I don't feel I'm cheating really.

Re: Cheating
I don't cheat as I don't know how, when I see someone mention how to do it here I avert my eyes. I can see why people use the auto win cheat for annoying rebel armies but adding money would spoil the game for me, each to their own though.
