Sarko did the essentially the right thing, though he could have been more polite and restrained about it. You don't call one of your underlings an 'imbecile' in public. It is un-gentlemanlike and unnecessary.
I don't like this man's rash approach to people as well as to all sorts of issues, and this is one instance.
