Yes, Gulf of Oman is a lot of fun.
Karkand is insane with the grenade spam at the hotel area.
I like Gulf of Oman and Songhua Stalemate. Makes me feel like I'm in 'Nam.
I lost my imaginary friend in 'Nam. He was charging up Hill 152 with Sgt Fluffykins and Cpl Wuzzlenuzzle when they were cut down by machine gun fire. :(
It usually cools down after the first few minutes, when the street fighting starts.Quote:

I mean, BF2 is a tactical game, and it defies the most basic principle of tactics that all members of a squad now have to clutter around the flag and just 'sit' there in order to 'defend' it. Even Stone Age warriors knew better than that.
I don't think Stone Age warriors had access to frag grenades and claymores. :tongueg:
Apart from those, nuttin much has changed, now has it? ~;)Quote:

However, once you come to understand this ebb and flow around the hotel, you will have great pickings as an AT or sniper.
EDIT
One thing though: keep moving, moving, moving. After a few rounds of Karkand your left hand should be numb.
I am getting BF2 this afternoon, I am going to try some Single Player maps before I get into MP.
What advice do you have for the overall game(MP)?
1. Join a squad.
2. Keep Squad Leader alive.
3. If Squad Leader dies, grab the nearest Medic kit and revive him.
4. ???
5. PROFIT
I would say:Quote:

3. learn to die in MP :embarassed:
3. learn to survive in MP :2thumbsup:
4. try to master at least one skill (medic, engineer, sniping and anti-tank are the most useful)
5. learn how to drive land vehicles
6. THEN join a squad
7. in between games you should create a private server with a large map, preferably Dragon Valley, Gulf of Oman or Zatar Wetlands, and try to master either choppers or jets -- you are going to need those skills, but if you train them in live games your buddies are going to be p***** off no end...
Search the Web for tweaking, skills and gameplay guides, if you can't find them I will post some links here (I am away from my game computer right now).
Oh, and welcome to the club, Warluster. Happy hunting! :balloon2:
EDIT
And heed Kekvit Irae's advice, particularly keeping your squad leader alive, since you can always spawn on him or her (women are few and far between in this game, but I have had some excellent female squad leaders) but they can't spawn on you.
Microphones are vital pieces of equipment when you are a squad leader or a squad member. It takes vital seconds away from moving/shooting to type out a message, but it takes nothing to speak. Listen to your squad members and squad leaders; saying "Sniper on the tower" takes less time than hitting Q and trying to line up the crosshairs exactly (something you should do anyway, regardless of having a microphone or not- it adds the enemy to your team's radar).
And for gods sake, if a commander tells you to do something, DO IT! They have more information on the battlefield and enemies than you do, thanks to UAV placement, extreme map zoom which reveals enemies, and radar scan.
Good advice...Quote:

You will find that very few use mics on the servers in Europe (I am one of them). If you get yourself into a game with a lot of german or dutch talk, you'll leave soon. Heck, I even have problems with my own countrymen or should I say 14 year old contrymen.
Support is very good for points on city maps. Just spam ammo packs EVERYWHERE. The points come rolling in.
My microphone isn't working with my new computer. It makes things so tedious.Quote:

Have anyone ever been base attacked (a.k.a baseloving) ?
Yeah, and I have done it myself, too, because some servers allow it. It doesn't feel right, you feel part of a firing squad. But the game does not allow for ceasefires or surrenders. If you don't kill spawning enemies, they will kill you.Quote:

I'd like to remind everyone of my stance on the word 'rape': don't say it, at least not here. Even if it's in the context of gaming lexicon, I wont allow it on in the Arena.
I remember some pretty hopeless scenes on aircraft carriers though...Quote:

Sometimes the squad leader can grab a plane and parachute over a good spot, then wait for his squad to spawn on him. In fact any squaddie can do this, as long as the squad members above him briefly leave the squad and get back in, so the squaddie who escaped becomes squad leader and all the others can spawn on him.
*Feels like a BF2 Academy instructor :laugh4: *
I find that the problem with people on carriers isn't that there is a problem, in itself, getting off the carrier, but that people try to wait around for the aircraft instead of hopping in the boats and driving to land.Quote:

Wake was much the same although there was more scope for sneaking around in boats there...
Yes, the problem with Wake Island in particular was attempted aircraft whoring to a large extent. The other one with a carrier (Dragon something?) was much better because there was a helo on the mainland, so any airwhore who didn't get one on the carrier immediately ran for that one. Err, and I think there was a third one with a carrier that also had a helo right out on the coast.
Obviously I haven't played in forever but my personal policy was to try never to get into a Wake Island game in the middle. If I got there at the start I could make it onto the island and do some damage, but if you pop in during the fight you're last in line for an aircraft and all you can do while waiting is die.
:egypt:
I have never run into that problem before, especially on Wake when every Chinese player makes a dash for a tank or a plane. Besides, no decent driver would ever drive in a straight line, especially when there are enemy flyboys on the prowl or tanks on the ridgeline. The vets usually know to stay as far away from the island as possible until they get in behind. Newbies or those with death wishes usually drive straight for the island or into the bay.Quote:

Would the Chinese forces, having pushed the US back onto the hangar ship in Dragon valley, shooting at spawning players with all armour and choppers be such a perpetrator?
I know when playing as commander, it is unsportsmanlike to drop artillery on the unconquerable bases.
Or are we simply talking about stealing the other team’s equipment found in an unconquerable base?
With all due respect I assume you have never been the victim of Chinese ÜberChoppers on a Dalian or Dragon map. If they're really good, they pop off the funny little boats while they're still in the carrier bay.Quote:

But really, the server had just began the new round, and suddenly you discovered all 'conquerable bases' belong to the enemy. I mean, what happened? (note: I am referring to the map like Dalian, Daqing and Zatar Wetlands)
2 Things!
First: Karkand is the best!!
Second: ...I AM GETTING HIGHSPEED!! :P
That means that by Christmas I will be owning online! :beam: BeautyField2 here I come!! :P
