Ah yes, and answer only General Appo could have given. It's only missing the word 'quietly'. XD
We are tacking on titles like....I don't know what. XD Us EB Tavern people are getting drunk on a lot more than alcohol, heh.
It's a Latin thing, Anno Domini means "In the Year of Our LORD" So "AD 14" but today 14 AD is acceptable and preffered because the original meaning is superceded by convenience of type-setting.Quote:

Or if I had half a brain, I'd think it's more of a custom to use that rather than any religious statement, and to change it on those grounds would be PC bullshit.

It smells like PC BS at first, but the rationale of calling it "Common Era" is that Jesus is unlikely to have been born at 1 AD (various arguments about chronology, don't remember), so it is inaccurate to call his birth the turning point of our counting; but since that counting is now entrenched in popular consciousness and we are unlikely to establish with any certainty the accurate date, and even if we did, no way would we start counting again and call our year 2005 AD or sth (as it more accurately is), so just substitute the historically loaded AD for the neutral/arbitrary CE/BCE, which admits honestly that our counting is conventional and not based on an established event happening at an established time.
Since even non Christians use the same way of chronology (along with whatever systems they have pertaining to their cultures/religions) "Common Era" is an accurate way of saying it; it is not supposed to be offensive because it does not purport to take Jesus' birth as a starting point of our Common Era. So imo there is nothing PC about CE, nor offensive to non Christians, what is behind this whole business is a dispute in chronology about Jesus' birth.
@ T.Nero: they're asying Jesus was born in 6 BC; others as late as 2BC

The Arcani doesn´t do things quitely, that for Tacitus and his disciples.Quote:

And sometimes we just go wild and ride my imported and pimped-out Egyptian Scythed Chariot drawn by 8 Flaming Pigs through the streets of Roma, you ought to see those Pleibs faces when they see us coming at them down a narrow alley with no escape routes.
