Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
Well, I've only allowed the 0.81 skins and models to be used with EB 1.1; I dunno how to make models and skins... just trying to have fun with all that other, more capable guys provide... and sometimes mod some text files for my own (and others) use and fun...
There are nice Legionaries skins and models made by King Louise Assurbanipal in his Ancients skinpack, available in TWC Forum - I'm gonna use these models and skins for my Romani units with all benefits of increased models number on ALX.exe engine.
@SaberHRE:
of course not!
The fix now includes the files for BOTH "vanilla EB" AND Phalanxmod!
Maybe I forgot to remark that in edited post, but I've also made a new topic in "EB bugs and fixes" subforum, so there's all clearly explained, what and where is contained. The fix contains 2 zip files, the one - basic - with all EDU, DMB, models and textures for "vanilla EB" and second zip with Phalanxmod EDU files.
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
@Darth
My post is not a flame or complaint by any means. Your effort is very much appreciated! Just trying to follow your example and take this thing a step further. Thanks!
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
Hey, mucky!
I take your post of course as no flame or complaint; in fact I even didn't care to look whether these guys have "Montefortino" or "Gallic" helmets. In fact I'm not as good in details of Roman weaponry as specialists from EB teams or other guys who dig such details out. Just wanted to provide "first aid" to all those who wanted to play EB with Romani...
BTW: AFAIK the KLA's skins contain both "Montefortino" legionaries (the "Caesarian legionary" skin) as well as "Gallic" legionaries (Imperial legionaries skins).
Anyway, have fun!
BTW2:
here's the link to KLA's skins mentioned above:

Look into them; maybe there's someone who looks appropriate to be used...? For my personal use I'm gonna use the caesarian legionary + Legionary 2, 3 and 6 from these skins; plus some doxzen other skins; for all of that stuff I'm gonna make new nits, adjust DMB, EDU and EDB files and put all that stuff to work under ALX.exe engine. Provided I have enough free time, the whole work may be completed within 2 weeks and will of course be submitted :D
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
I dont see that KLAs skins match the feel of EB at all. They are all built like superheroes...
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
Well, maybe...
I used some of his skins in Ancient Empires Elysium 1.1 and they looked to me quite OK.
Anyway, I just wanted some units with LS in my game and also some nice new hoplites, so I decided I'll use the possibilities the ALX engine ofers and put them into the game.
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
@Darth
If you're looking for LS, I'm doing a reskin job using the Modding Legions 1.5 (Ferres, Webbird, Warspite, Lusted, Godzilla I think a the folks that did this work) available over at TWC Center. I could try to make it available to you once I'm done if you like. I'm changing most of the imperial units and going to add a first cohort that is a different from the regular cohors imperatoria (different helmet, shield, and greaves), centurion with white crest and LS, eagle standard for imperial first cohorts and praetorian guard infantry, LS evocatae with a lorica manica (armguard), and going to try to add Gallic legions. IMHO these skins on par with EB quality and fun to play though ahistorical. I'll try to post pics once I'm done if you like. Let me know
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
KLA's gladii look like longswords.

I think that what KLA shows might be close to accurate. Gladii lengths in EB and RTR are much shorter than what they should be (the blade length should be about 20"). I'm trying hard to make sure they are properly represented in the RTR mini-mods/RTR-VII...
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
@mucky305:
Yeah, great! Post the pictures and if you can, send me also the models/textures remodelled by You.
BTW: could You link up the Modding Legions 1.5? Anyway, I'll try to find the file by myself, but...

@Darth
Here's the link to the Modding legion 1.5 program.

If you don't have it already, DDS Converter 2.1 is a great program for viewing tga/dds files so you can see the textures, sprites, and unit card pictures prior to actually bringing them over into EB. I don't think you can modify the files but you can view them (helps me a ton). I've still got some work to do to get finished and I'm hoping that I don't exceed the hardcoded unit limit in EB as when done, I figure I will have added 4-5 new units (Gallic legions, eagle standard, roman archers, and separation of skins/models for evocatae, cohors imperatoria, and prima cohors imperatoria units) and reskinned a few more. I also plan to include all the fixes if applicable to the files I've modified. Once tested, I'll try to upload to Filefront.:yes:
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
Well, it seems the hardcoeded limit of units for RTW is far from being reached by EB team, and adding some 20 new units will not make hurt the game.
However, the EB team has reached the models limit.
Thus I'm gonna use the ALX engine, as with ALX.exe the models number the game can use has been increased from 250 to 500!

mucky, one more thing:
could you make a reskin to "Artillery Crew" from EB? They now all have the "Hellenic art crew" for all the factions, barbarians, hellenic, Roman and all others, which in fact look like the peasants or Akontistai.
I wondered if it would be possible to make (at least for the Romans) the new skins, maybe with use of those prepared for postMarian and Imperial legions?
Anyway, I'd be very grateful for making such job, if it's possible...
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
@Darth
No problem. I was planning on doing it anyway. Should be a light lorica hamata/squamata. I've exceeded the hardcode DMB limit so I am in the process of trying to figure what models to delete (should only be a couple officer, or mount units) so I can play test as I don't have ALX (wish I did). I will try to include a DMB file without anything deleted so ALX players can use it to the fullest.:2thumbsup:
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
Well, AFAIK the artillery crews in EB use all the same single model and the same texture. Thus the only problem is to reskin the Romani, I think.
About ALX: I don't know about availability of RTW Gold or Platinum Edition in place where You live; I purchased my own RTW as Gold Edition (RTW 1.5 + BI 1.6) some 2 years ago as a Polish edition on single DVD and used it with succes. However my DVD has become a little scratched so I needed a "backup" - and then, last summer, there was a Platinum Edition, with all 3 games included on single DVD - RTW 1.5, BI 1.6 and ALX 1.9, which costed me some 60,00 PLN (Polish zloty; it's now about 27 USD), so I can play with ALX.exe engine - and that's definitely worth of it.
Re: What's up with the Cohors Imperatoria/Evocata, and the post marian Centurion?
new xprime's legionaries are piece of art, they have only the head to be reduced a little bit for fitting rtw, like we already seen in med2 they rocks.
un saluto a tutti gli italiani che sono qui!:yes:
