A last minute change to a Chicago victory for me. I just read Hasselback isn't playing, one of many injuries for Seattle. Even the 12th man won't give them the win.

Heh, looks like most people picked detroit.
Congrats to the Lions. :2thumbsup:
-edit- DC sports talk radio should be really fun to listen to this week. :laugh4:
I guess on the plus side, Minnesota lost ...
Oh, wait. I guess I get a point instead. Hmm, which would have been better...:juggle2:
I'll be interested to see if Seattle can win. Oh, and be sure to share any golden moments from DC radio. :clown:

HOW ABOUT 'DEM VIKINGS
Is that... enthusiasm and... *gasp* optimism I detect, Martok? :laugh4:
Palmer is still looking very rusty...at least he isn't throwing interceptions. And our defenders keep whiffing on sacks, but then again it's roethlisburger.
Bengals win!!!
I'm not even angry at our long snapper for his 2nd botched snap this year, seeing as we would never have completed that 4th and 10 to the 5 yard line if a field goal would have tied it.
-edit-
The steelers have the same record as the lions.
Well, Colts gave up quite a few more yards than I would have liked, but overall, a good win. Nice to see Pierre get another td.
What can I say about the Raiders? Russell looks like a fat Ryan Leaf. The O-line should just quit and let him get his head beaten in for awhile so he at least earns that fat contract and entertain us all.
Supposedly he still plays great in practice, he's just got nothing in the game. No leadership, no timing, no sense. Some people blame the franchise attitude, and maybe that's a factor, but part of a QB's job is to lead his team out of that kind of funk.
Thank goodness KC is on the schedule again.

Found on a concrete column in the visitors locker room at the new cowboys stadium...

Looking forward to seeing chad score a touchdown with his all-pink accessories.
That is amazing. :laugh4:
CBS: Ravens-Patriots.
Fox: Redskins-Bucs.
:laugh4:
What is going on in Chicago?! :dizzy2:
CR
Man, cribbs is killing us
On the one hand- GAH! Missed the picks this week. :furious3:
On the other hand- w00t! Colts looking strong thus far. :2thumbsup:
That's what I wanna know, too. Looks like Detroit struck early, Chicago fought back, Detroit pushed harder, then Ch-town ran up the score. (All that speculation coming from the changing scores).
Any injuries? Turnovers?
Guess I'll have to wait for ESPN to fill me in. Neither Fox nor CBS are enlightening.
We officially have the worst long snapper in the history of football...2 field goals and 2 extra points missed this year because of bad snaps. Lost the broncos game and almost lost the steelers and browns games because of that #$%^& :furious3:
edit: also, we may have had 3 players hurt in the OT we would never have gone too if he hadn't made us miss the FG and point after...
That's serious trouble there, Sasaki.
Also, the Titans supposedly get more desperate with every game, and keep losing. Lousy nogoodniks. Indy's going to play them next week, right? Gee, wonder who I'll pick for that game.
CR
TOUCHDOWN BRONCOS. Wow.
Does this mean Denver is for real?
-edit- Wow, nice 2-minute drill by Romo. We'll see if he finishes it off.
-edit- nope.
Well that was terrible...
Looks like the Colts and the Saints are the teams to beat this year.
-edit-
Wow, martok is perfect this week.
And san diego's defense and run game are terrible.
Believe me, no one is more surprised by this than I. :dizzy2: In truth, I was very uncomfortable with at least half my picks this week; I think it's safe to say I definitely got lucky in a couple of those games.
Of course, my "streak" this weekend will be all for naught unless the Vikings beat the Packers tomorrow night.... :sweatdrop:
I was surprised by that. I figured Pitt had the edge tonight, but I didn't anticipate them winning as handily as they did. (That game wasn't nearly as close as the final score makes it out to be; the Chargers were pretty much finished by halftime, despite everything they could do.)
I got really excited for nothing at the end. I had San Diego.
Afraid to look at the scores but I think I'm in last this week. So much for my early season lead. :laugh4:
And congrats on the perfect week (so far) Martok! :medievalcheers:
Nice job Martok. :2thumbsup: Faith restored.... till next week.:laugh4:
see below
ESPN explained the Detroit loss: turnovers and a hurt QB. At least they gave it a decent fight and so far haven't just rolled over and died. Maybe they'll win another one this year. :laugh4:
On the night game, I gave the Chargers up for dead by halftime, and started watching rugby. On a commercial break, I checked back and they were in striking distance! QB Rivers and the O-team have it together, and Sproles is the sparkplug on Special teams, too. Too bad he doesn't play Defense as well - that D-team could sure use the help.
Congrats, Martok. Nice pix.
I live on the border between Wisconsin and Minnesota. This may as well be the superbowl.
Vikings are kicking ass.
Farve is tuned up tonight. I gotta say, I doubt he'll have this much left when they go to Green Bay later in the season though.
:egypt:
Matt Forte vs the packers: 25 rush, 55 yards
Adrian Peterson vs the packers: 25 rush, 55 yards
Cedric Benson vs the packers: 29 rush, 141 yards
:smug:
What? No 49ers? We're going all the way this year baby!
Easiest week to pick so far...
Oh, I don't know. JAX is one of the teams I get wrong every week. Seahawks have a lot of injuries I think.
Jesus christ, I'm sure it's good tv for every game to come down to the final minute but I'd really like to see us win comfortably for once.
Our long snapper messed up another 2 snaps. Kill me. Actually I don't really care anymore since we won. But either fire him or go for it on 4th down, we're 8/9 on 4th down this year and 3/6 on field goals.
I could have told you baltimore was overrated
I'm getting throttled. Looks like two weeks off didn't help.
A bit OT but would anyone be up for The CFB bowl pool? I just saw you could do that and I'm 1000,0000 bigger college than pro fan.
Anyone else think the announcer for the Bengals-Ravens game got a bit overly excited? Anytime there was a long pass or a close play or a turnover or something he seemed to wet his pants.
:laugh4:
Boy was I wrong...I thought hasselbeck was out, and didn't JAX beat houston and tennessee and only lose to the colts by 2?
Good weekend though, houston and the patriots lost, the titans are going to lose, bengals beat ravens, steelers have trouble with the lions...of course, I'm hopeful that we won't need to care about the wild card race :juggle2: but we still have the bears, the ravens, the steelers, the vikings, and the jets.
*clears throat* Yeah, I'm definitely feeling a little sheepish about how I called that one....
I was also fairly surprised by Atlanta beating the 49ers (although I can't claim to be completely surprised). I'm even more taken aback at how lop-sided the game turned out. Did not see that coming. :dizzy2:
Argghhhhh! What a big bowl of suck for fans in New England today.
Does McDaniels have incriminating photos of Tom Brady? He gave the game away today. Of course no matter who's coaching the Broncos, the Patriots never seem to do well in Denver.
Congrats Kukri
My MNF score and prediction were both way off :sweatdrop:
I will be rooting so hard for the vikings next couple weeks.
Fun MNF. And I got to watch a replay of the UW-Arizona game. What a game winning interception!
CR
With apologies to Decker and all other Raiders fans here, this article from the Onion yesterday cracked me up:
:laugh4:
The Raiders & Bills need new ownership. The game has passed them by.
That fat punk we have at QB, the new Ryan Leaf, is not just a symptom of the problem either. There's no leadership on the field, none. A well motivated High School squad could whip those lazy jerks, and maybe that's what it will take to get some Raider Nation pride back. Makes me sick.
There are worse teams in the league right now, but none that have been as consistently horrible in every aspect of the game (Except special teams; our kicking game is actually pretty good) for as long.
:egypt:
This weeks bengals game was going to be blacked out, but Ocho Cinco and motorola bought the last 1,200 tickets and are giving them away. Crazy awesome.
Now let's see if we can shut down Andre Johnson :sweatdrop:
The Bengals are actually pretty good this year, so it would be a shame to have a blackout. Good for 85.
I guess it would too much to ask for a black out of the Chiefs@Skins trainwreck (in the rain, no less) this weekend. "There are some things that you see, and you can't unsee them." :ahh:
:laugh4::laugh4::laugh4: That gave me a good laugh. Sadly I haven't been able to follow the season much as I'm at a uni without a TV and end up doing HW over the weekends mostly anyways :book:
I don't think our QB has brains. That's my guess anyway :idea2:
Well... our special teams have actually been the only thing that has ever improved over the past... however many years after being the worst aspect. :2thumbsup: Which is incredibly sad.
I just wonder when we get demoted to NCAA II Division football :sweatdrop:
And yes, Al needs to just... croak or give it up finally. And my grandpa who has followed them from the beginning said he has never seen them play so terribly in all his life. Sad days indeed. I'm just glad I have a great excuse not to go to the games now, as they were (and even worse, are) incredibly depressing.
Games this weekend I feel could all too easily go either way:
Giants-Saints
Panthers-Buccaneers
Ravens-Vikings
Chiefs-Redskins
Battle of the Birds (Cardinals-Seahawks)
Gah! Why must I pick winners for these?? I fear this won't end well for me....
Heh. Well I'm glad you enjoyed it at least. :beam:
I just realized that the Raiders were playing the Eagles this week. Let's hope all of this Oakland-bashing doesn't cause a reverse jinx. :sweatdrop:
Gah, I switched my nyg/n.o. pick at the last minute, hope that wasn't wrong...
Andre johnson is a beast, losing our two best d-linemen doesn't help though. At least we have a new snapper.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Raiders look sharp today. Uh-oh.
Titans look absolutely terrible.
GH what's going on? Raiders winning?
Odom out for season :wall:
Luckily, I had a train to catch and got to miss the second half of that embarrassment. :wall:
In hindsight though, this really isn't too surprising. The Eagles always give a couple of these games away every year. It sucks when it happens again, and then they look good just long enough for you to forget that they give games away. Then it happens again. Argh.
You know the Raiders D really showed up to play, and the Eagles D really didn't, but Russell didn't exactly have a great game. Take away those two big plays, which were really sloppy give aways by Philly (How many guys that could've caught Zach just gave up and watched on his long TD?) more than great Raiders O, and Russell looked like his usual joke self behind a lazy offensive line. I guess he didn't make quite as many mistakes as previously, but the Eagles D looked completely uninterested in the game and we weren't exactly exploiting it.
I am glad our D woke up. Maybe it was having Vick come to town? Doesn't everyone want a shot at him? He was barely in the game though.
A W is a W.
:egypt:
I think Seymour has been a huge boost to the Raiders' D. Not just his skill (being traded definitely woke him up though), but his attitude and leadership look like they have really started to turn things around, at least defensively.
The Chiefs/Skins game was dreadful, as expected. CBS had technical difficulties in the third quarter, so we got to see some of the Vikings/Ravens game, a much better option. I was so bummed when they switched back.
Can't ever seem to get to the number 1 spot. Always in second or third:wall:
May the gods forgive me: I've picked my beloved Steelers to defeat my (even more) beloved Vikings. :embarassed:
I hate to say it, but with Winfield out this week, Big Ben will be able to throw the ball all over the place tomorrow. Favre and AP will do their best, but I don't think it'll be enough.
Yeah, that was a tough won to pick. Both teams are somewhat overrated (but then in the NFL most teams are either over or under rated). I picked the vikings because I'll be watching the game and rooting for them :beam:
Man, the Bengals are taking the bears out to the woodshed. 31-0 at half. :dizzy:
edit: ok, spoke too soon, Chicago got a field goal at the last second.
Great game :beam:
The vikings got robbed though imo. 14 point swing on that tripping call.
