The guests congregated in the grand ballroom at the center of the hotel. A polite note, not unlike the hotel invitation, on the pillow of their beds requested them to join the others in the grand ballroom for further explanations. There were even directions on the flipside.
The atmosphere among the guests was somewhat uncomfortable. All but the most outgoing personalities would consider braking the ice in such a group of opposites, all with there own secrets and questions.
The hotel itself wasn't exactly soothing either. The eclectic decorations and strangely placed lights and chandeliers made ominous, ever-changing shadows. Some may even have noticed something irking at the edge of their vision, ever illusive when you try to focus on it.
Then there was the personnel. Overwatch didn't seem to have any except for the maître d’ who greeted every new arrival in the lobby. Sure, you caught glimpses of bell boys and what probably was the maid on your way to your room but these images were already fleeting like they were never real in the first place.
The silence was abruptly broken by the nasal voice of the maître d’: “In name of the staff of hotel Overwatch, I welcome you to our lovely establishment. I'm afraid I have some bad news. It would appear that the person who made the reservations gathered you all here for a specific reason. I'm not aware of all the details but it seems he wants to play a little game with you. Your benefactor, for lack of a better word, also stressed that he doesn't necessarily expect everyone to survive this game.
Well, I bid you all a pleasant evening. You can eat as much of the buffet as you like.”
His grave expression didn't alter once during his short speech.
First chapter. The game has finally begun for real. Skim over the rules again on the first page and put in your orders. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Phase 1 The Search For Clues Double A, johnhughthom, atheotes, Joooray, Winston Hughes, Methos, Seon
The key to a good bourbon is in the serving; always at room temperature, preferably two fluid ounces or so in a snifter and definitely accompanied by some fine tobacco. That was one of the rules that Jack Churchill lived by, and he was indignant at the offence that the bartender had just committed.
"It is against the hotel's policy to smoke in the ballroom, sir", he had whispered as he watched the wizened soldier fumbling with a box of matches to light his pipe, "you cannot light that in here".
"Are you joking, Lloyd?", Jack shouted in response, slamming his hands down on the bar, matches flying everywhere and his bourbon splashing over the woodwork. He was not pleased at all; a free luxury trip and he wasn't even allowed to smoke?
Around the ballroom, pairs of eyes looked up from food, drinks and magazines to focus on Mad Jack; at the end of the bar, Bob called over "listen buddy, the last thing anyone wants on a vacation is arguing". He turned back to his cold pint and hoped that would be the end of it.
Jack motioned for a response, but his voice was drowned out by a loud chime; eyes turned once more towards the organ at the end of the bar, a single finger outstretched and pressing down upon an ivory key. Joseph Winterbottom grinned sheepishly, and mumbled an apology to his fellow guests, his friend Mr. Athington looking at him with a look that could well have killed.
The ornate pipes of the organ chimed again, and the entire room's gaze fixed upon Joseph once more; Thomas threw a treacle tart from across the room and narrowly missed him, his expletive-laden sentence silenced as the organ began to play an upbeat, jazzy number to the surprise of the entire room.
It was as if the room had sprung to life and in mere seconds, figures appeared out of nowhere; men dressed in the most dapper of dinner tuxedos, women robed in elegant spring-hued chiffon gowns and dozens of hotel staff meandering around with aparatifs and cocktails aplenty. They all seemed so very real, and yet they couldn't be... could they?
Sara shuffled in her seat as a young couple sat next to her, seemingly oblivious that she was there; the pair canoodled with one another, whispering sweet nothings about eloping and parenting. Feeling uncomfortable, Sara gathered her things and moved to sit at Dr. Weston's table. The good doctor was staring at the most beautiful woman in the room, clad in a lilac, off-the-shoulder number with a scarlet mass of hair that made her look like a movie star; his cigarette hung limply from his agape mouth, ashes dripping onto his open magazine.
At the bar, a young gentleman sat between Bob and Thomas, completely ignoring the pair, and called the bartender over. Lloyd and the man spoke briefly about the correct way to drink bourbon, and then the man left, glass-in-hand.
Everything seemed so very, very real... and yet it couldn't be, could it?
In that moment, the figures vanished as quickly as they had appeared, and the guests were left baffled by what had just occured.

Oh great. Ghosts.
Or at least it's statistically likely that what happened was a gesture from the paranormal universe. It always is like that in games.
Alternative answer may be genetic memory from ingesting strange material, simultaneous, synchronized dreaming caused by hallucinogen, or that we just travelled through time. I think ghosts are pretty likely.

When the guests got back to the lobby, Chris Pronger decided to declare that his hit on Samuel Garris was inevitable.
"It's a nothing play if that scary noise doesn't happen," Pronger said, stressing that he did not intentionally hit Garris in the head. The contact, he said, was partly because he is 6-foot-6 and Garris is 6-foot-1. "Of course I'm going to hit him in the head," Pronger said. "He's quite a bit shorter than me. Re: Overwatch Hotel
Phase 2 Looking For Trouble slashandburn
The first floor landing of the hotel was painted in warm, summer hues and adorned with watercolours of boating lakes and meadows; Santiago Torres rolled his eyes at the decadance of the building's artwork and waved farewell to Will Coback before taking a left and vanishing from sight down the next corridor. In truth, Torres was happy to be free of the little scaredy-cat anyway, he was probably much better off going around alone anyway... people like that often hindered rather than helped, in his opinion.
The orange paintwork of the first floor landing faded into a cool azure hue as Santiago proceeded further down the corridor and then blended into a frosted white-blue colour; the air around him plummeted in temperature as if to suit the chance in decor, and it took all of Torres' willpower not to head back to the stairs due to the intense cold that pricked at his skin. It was going to take take more than a bust heating system to frighten off a man with exceptional willpower such as Santiago's.
He recalled his childhood sweetheart back in Cuba, Rubi; she was a wily young lass who had often paired up with him for fishing expeditions and such, and she had taught him many of the life lessons he carried with him today. He remembered the breathing technique she had taught him many years ago for retrieving their lobster traps, a technique that meant the pair could dive without the bothersome encumbrance or cost of diving equipment.
He felt that his current situation warranted the technique too, and he paused for a moment, closing his eyes and inhaling a lungful of air and exhaling slowly, repeating this exercise for a minute or so until he felt that his breathing had become steady and consistent. The air around him remained cold to the touch, but the stinging sensation of frost had subsided entirely, and Torres believed his technique had worked; he opened his eyes.
Darkness.
Santiago couldn't see at all, everything was pitch black; he turned around on the spot, calmly at first, but could see nothing, and panic began to set in. Swirling around, bumping into the walls, Torres stumbled around the corridor until he tripped over and fell to the floor in a heap. The Cuban swore loudly as he struggled to get up, but some unseen force seemed to be holding him down on the ground in a tangled mess, his head half pinned beneath his arms.
"Your eye is so pretty", a child-like feminine voice whispered through the darkness, "can I have it?"
Santiago screamed in horror as the unseen voice attacked, hands scratching at his partially exposed face, fingers probing for the fear-stricken eye that flitted around trying to find the assailant to no avail. His screams would go unanswered for several minutes.
When he finally awoke, the young Cuban would find himself comforted by a group of fellow guests, their sorrowful yet disgust-ridden faces failing to hide the true extent of his injuries. He was lucky to be alive at all.

Chris Pronger blasts media, specifically Canadian media, over various things
Earlier Tuesday, Pronger called in to the "Roggin and Simers Squared" radio show in Los Angeles and told Fred Roggin he suspects the recent events at Overwatch hotel happened because of "members in the media pressuring the league" due to the Garris hit.
"The hotel should make its own calls, not be pressured into anything by the media, and more to the point, the Canadian media," he said.
He also was quite irate over the spelling of his name as 'Procter' and suggested to journalists that they look up his name on the Norris Trophy for best defensemen or Hart Trophy for MVP.
Pronger, looking worse for wear, was mum about his injuries and instead give a spontaneous explanation about an recent incident with an unknown woman.
"Look if you were in my position you'd have done the same thing. How I was supposed to know she was a zombie?"
"I'll tell you what though, she better watch out for an elbow to the face the next time we meet."
Pronger went on to explain why he has decided to not speak to the media (which is on "black-out"), and while he does so, he says that the Detroit media is equally to blame with the Canadian media, despite the fact that he hasn't read anything said or written himself.
I'm gonna wait around a bit to try and regroup. If nobody is coming I'm putting the team on my back once again and looking for trouble. :2thumbsup:

Re: Overwatch Hotel
"Dinosaurs!" yelled a wild-eyed Dr Weston, as he stumbled around the lobby in search of his cigarettes. "Filthy great jungle lizards... robbed my smokes, they did!!!"
The Doctor paused for a moment to remove the paisley striped tie from his collar, and place it around his head, rambo-style.
"Right... That's it... Nobody steals from Dr Hugh Weston! Nobody!! Wherever those reptilian scumbags have disappeared to, I'll hunt them down!!!"
