Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
John unfortunately boiled down to having to do what he does best, in a situation like this, making use of his small stature against an large opponent. As the men tried to make a grab for him, he went up to the one infront and punched him squarely between his legs. The second person tried to make a grab for him, but he escaped under his legs. The third was incoming, going down extra low, he jumped up and ran along his back, and as the man ducked down to look to where John went to, from between his legs, John was there and thawted him on the nose. As the last one came for him, he ran up to him, the fourth one stood still, so John couldn't past, so John grabbed his loin cloth and pulled it downwards, revealing something Liva wished she never wittinessed, and the fourth man realised what occured, tried to cover himself up, but failing, and tried to catch John as he used his the guys loincloth as a flag.

My apologies for being late with my contribution. When Misses Peasant wants something I rarely get to say differently.
I'll make up for it this evening.
Also Bravo Beskar, just Bravo. Someone wants to earn the coup de grace.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Chief: 6 dice, trait 5, (2 yang, 4 yin mix) 3 yin successes 2 yang successes
Chaotix: 6 dice, trait 5, 2 yin 3 yang at the chief
Diamondeye: 6 dice, trait 4, 2 yin 4 yang
Seon: 6 dice, trait 5, 2 yin 3 yang
Beskar: 6 dice, trait 4, 1 yin 2 yang
So both the Chief (0 Chi) and Chaotix (1 chi) cancel each others attacks out. Beskar loses 1 point so he's at 2 chi and the rest have their full 3 chi.
The mook threat is now at 31.
"That flatery will get you only a part of the way young celery." said Toss-an-Emu, "and you won't see the inside of my tent just yet."
It wasn't so much that his tent was sacred but he had put off spring cleaning for a year or two. Respect and admiration tends to fade away in the face months of dirty dishes.
"Give me a reason to help you, I don't use my gift for just any occasion".
Meanwhile the rest of the tribe was in a state between wonder, confusion and utter horror. Some plucked chickens bold to see more wonders while others suggested that the bishop should be moved to F3 to avoid an obvious Orwellian gambit. But the overwhelming male part of the tribe just casually but decidedly popped in to ,there tents to get there trousers on.
Chief uses Loves to hear himself talk (5) aimed at Chaotix now in an even split.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
[I'm going to interpret my good results that some of the mooks are actually influenced by what I'm doing, and continue]
Liva ogled at Johns way of handling the natives, but quickly withdrew her eyes before seeing a sight she would rather be without. She returned her attention to the natives who had gathered some feathers for her, and she sat down with them in a circle and began flicking together a simple feather ornament for wearing in your hair. She moved her hands slowly and carefully, so the natives can see what is happening and try to copy her movements, but they're not very good at it. She gives one of them the first ornament and makes another one, this time putting it in her own hair, hoping to indicate that they can indeed be friends.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Jackaloup almost panicked at hearing the commotion little John was causing. His plan of peaceful action had been ruined; the Chief had not noticed it yet, but as soon as he did all hell would break loose. In a split-second, however, a devious smile replaced the look of uncertainty on the trickster's face. In an angelic, beseeching voice, he pleaded:
"Well, Great Chief Toss-an-emu, you just have to help poor John! It's absolutely vital that you do so..."
Mid-sentence, all of a sudden Jackaloup bent and snatched the Chief's leg, then proceeded to hold the small man at a long arm's length, dangling upside-down by his ankle. His voice then changed from honey-sweet to low and threatening:
"...because, if you don't, I'm afraid I'll have to find a nicely sized rock to smash your head in with!"

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Watch this first.
Shephard jolted awake from the chess board that he was staring at. He suddenly couldn't quite remember who he was fighting against anymore...
"...find a nicely sized rock to bash your head in with!" the weird man said, holding a poor old man by his feet. Shephard absentmindedly hurled the rock inside his pocket towards a direction of the two men, missing completely. Instead, the rock beautifully ricochetted off another rock and hit a bird flying midair. The bird let out a terrifying shriek and began to fall towards the ground unconcious. The village dog became curious of this new development and drew closer to the bird, accidentally brushing against a lever and releasing several dozen logs which fell to the ground with a massive booming noise. Everyone turned towards the sound, distracted by the logs...
Shephard moved the rook across his portable chess table... and pulled out a small water bottle from his pocket (which was, incidentally, one of the greatest mystery in the world,) and drank from it.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
I'll extend the deadline until tomorrow noon as I can't wait any longer and there are still 2 players missing.
On the other hand I like to ask what you think of this game so far. Personally I feel that it finally got of the ground these last 2 rounds. If there are any remarks, suggestions, ... don't hesitate to post them.
-
Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
The only things I've marked down as less-than-optimal is the time limit for the rounds (it was a little harsh but we made round 1; we'll need more rounds for this as there's a higher chi danger, but perhaps it's better to give the rounds slightly lower yang numbers), and that Beskar's last post (which was very creative) was somewhat blocking our narrative interaction with the natives since he seemed to claim them all. I just pretended some of them didn't notice him.
Other than that, this is working out very well.
-
Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
OOC: I wasn't claiming all, I apologize if I gave that impression.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
The Indians returned with pants. John laughed as he saw the first one, who also came with an extra pair on his head, with some of Liva's feathers stuck in it, "Watch out, it is Chief-Pantshead". The indian got annoyed and retorted "At least I am not small!", John witted back "At least if you were, your brain-to-brawn ratio might have gone above zero!". A couple of others came out, some even wearing their loinclothes over their pants. "Is it a bird? is it a super-hero? No, just a bunch of plonkers who put their undies on the outside", John pointed and laughed at them, as they started to get red in the face. Their retorts were simply reflected back at them by a magnitude of ten.

What do you mean by time limit? Is it the 24 hours or was it the time limit in an earlier scene?
There is no time limit in this round.
Also if you find that posts by me or other players hamper you in any way, just say so and we can get to an agreement on how to avoid further annoyance.
-
Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
I knew about the veto, but I felt Beskar's post wasn't quite enough to warrant it.
I meant the amount of rounds we needed to complete the first challenge in. Mostly because we weren't told from the start, so we were, perhaps, overly cautious.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Chief: 6 dice, trait 5, (2 yang, 4 yin mix) 2 yin successes 2 yang successes
Diamondeye: 6 dice, trait 4, 1 yin 2 yang
Chaotix: 6 dice, trait 5, 1 yin 4 yang at the chief
Seon: 6 dice, trait 5, 3 yin 3 yang
Beskar: 6 dice, trait 5, 1 yin 2 yang
The Chief goes into negatives which means that Chaotix can describe a Coup de Grace on him. Chaotix himself goes down to 0 chi and will be out of this scene if he loses one more chi. Beskar is down to 1 Chi and Diamondeye to 2. Seon still has 3 chi.
The mook threat is now at 20.
The tribe's attention was clearly split. Some hadn't had such a great time since that traveler had given them a 'creative with bark'-workshop. Why would they need to hunt or do mighty war deeds to earn feathers when they could just make them themselves. Oh, they would make then even there chief had.
Most others scattered in every direction to catch this big group who made all those noises. Killing a bird, alarming the dog and dropping tens of logs. This must be one heck of a group. Thes few strangers could wait for a little while.
A last group of Indians just wanted to crawl into the tiniest hole in the ground and cry for there mommy. It was one thing to be hit square into there 'cactus fruit', it was another to be humiliated on top of that.
"You are a strong and proud warrior, You are a strong and proud warrior, You are a strong and proud warrior, You are a strong and proud warrior". The mantra would eventually overcome there current humiliation.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Struggle though he did, Chief Toss-an-emu couldn't break free of Jackaloup's grip. The trickster walked over and picked up the stone that Shepherd had thrown with a devious smile, and as soon as he did the Chief was silent and pale-faced. Then his face quickly turned a more reddish hue as all the blood reached his face from being held upside-down for too long. Jackaloup looked at the pleading face of the Chief and then back at the stone, and decided he had won already.
"Well then, I think we have an agreement , don't we?"
With an underhand motion, Jack tossed the Chief face-first into the nearest tree. The Chief fell and then sat at the base of the tree, dizzied. Jackaloup walked up to him and took the Chief's feathered headdress, placing it on his own head and covering his horns, which seemed to have grown a tiny bit larger over the encounter.
"Jolly good doing business with you, sir. Now you just sit there and have a rest while I get your tribe into order."
What to call himself, Jackaloup thought... perhaps "Taller-than-Trees" would do.
----------------------------
Turning around, Jackaloup saw what appeared to be a scene of utter chaos. Most of the small Indians had scattered. They appeared to love Liva, hate John, and fear Shepherd. Jackaloup stepped up, looking rather more ridiculous than usual in his new feathered headdress, and tried to give his best authorititative voice.
"Oi! Listen up, you whelps! Get over here and stand at attention!"

"Nonono, I don't think it's a good idea if you make headdresses as fine as your chieftain's. I mean, he'd probably be angry, and..." Liva pauses for a moment and looks up when Jackaloup enters, the headdress on his head. "Look, there he is. You better get over there and go back to your duties. I'll put these drawing inside one of your teepees so you can always continue once you have the spare time, okay?"
The question was merely rethorical, since she had pointed at Jackaloup and they had all looked over there and now couldn't really look away without failing their duty towards their chieftain. Liva picked up her drawings and featherwork and headed for the largest teepee, to examine what was inside more than to actually leave anything there...

Checkmate! Shepherd grinned at his opponent, only to find that he was gone. Blast that coward.
He looked up and surveyed the area around him. "Did a war happen here while I was using my secret technique or something?" He muttered to himself, shoving the chess board and all the pieces back into his pocket. Somebody stole the rock, blast it.
Shepherd than noticed Jackaloup, looking more ridiculous then he thought was humanly possible. He nodded to himself as he heard Jacklaloup's speech, and climbed onto a tree, looking fierce as possible (and also to disguise the fact that his legs were shaking). "You heard the man, MOVE!"

[Grumbles at some how he only got 1 yin and 2 yang with a 5 skill]
The furious Indians (near John) began to focus their annoyance towards John, through the use of chant and dance. John began to mimic them in a display of mockery, with purposefully doing slightly incorrect actions which makes the act look silly. The indians up'd the Tempo and so did John, till the end of the dance when they focused the primal energy towards John. In the split-moment, John realizes what happens, then does an encore by doing the moonwalk, and throwing the Loincloth from earlier up into the air.
Indians grew so red with rage, they looked like dried tomatoes. John just couldn't stop laughing at their expressions and wrinkled looks. It looked as if the Indians were about to explode. "If the Chief is meant to be the strongest and bravest, how come a strange looking boy defeated him without even as much as a sweat bead?", the Indians turned around to see Jack wearing the chieftains headdress, and went wild with fury attacking eachother in their insanity.
John stood proud, then winked towards Jack.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
The tribesmen watched Jackaloupe with their chiefs headdress. A sure sign that Chief Toss-an-emu, their symbol of pride competence, was defeated. The men were uncertain what to do. Would they bow to their 'new chief' or would they rebel against this usurper? This uncertainty dragged on for far to long.
The squaws eventually just rolled their eyes in unanimous disdain for their men, pick the first thing that looked like a weapon and hurled themselves at whoever of our heroes was the closest.

OK, this means that only Beskat loses Chi. So Chaotix and Beskar have 0 chi and are just hanging on. Diamondeye has 2 and Seon still has 3 chi.
The mook threat is now down to 14.
It wouldn't be a bad thing to rationalise the low chi level (I'm looking at you Chaotix and Beskar).

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Liva was caught by surprise at the hostile reaction of the squaws, and fumbled around to find something - anything - to defend herself with. Her hands passed desperately over feathers and rugs until it found something lying about; a length of rope. She clutched it in her hands, twirling it between her fingers in complex furls. Whenever a squawk came too close, she lashed out with the rope, always with force and always without losing control of the rope or losing the grip. She hit one squawk across the hand so she dropped her makeshift weapon, and another straight on the nose, causing a cascade of blood to spring forth. Swinging the rope around her, she yells at the women surrounding her. "Get off my back, you fat :daisy:es! Just because John got more fun out of your men that you've ever had! Taste this!" With a rapid series of finger movements, she adds a large knot to one end of the rope and swings it, ramming the temple of one of the sqawks and sending her collapsing to the floor.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Jackaloup was horrified by the small, shrewish squaws' display of defiance- especially the part about the rock that hit him square in the forehead, knocking off his new headdress as well.
Normally, he refrained from fighting women, but Jackaloup decided at this point that the squaws were hardly civilized ladies. The trickster pulled out his Boomerang and threw it in their general direction, and it nailed three of them with punishing accuracy before return back to Jack's outstretched hand. The three squaws were knocked unconscious, but it seemed more and more were arriving to replace them.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
The thought process in Shepherd's mind at this point was rather simple. It merely consisted of two words.
Oh hell oh hell oh hell oh hell oh hell oh hell oh hell
or rather, two words in quick succession to each other. The squaws were climing the trees now, completely unafraid of Shepherd as if they could smell his cowardice...
Shepherd looked around in confusion. He needed a plan...fast...
And being crazy prepared paid off again. Plan AC-x-a-i. Defeat a large group of enemies trying to climb the tree that you are currently hiding in. Shepherd quickly began to jump on the tree branch, causing it to shake and annoying the squaws down the tree. When he heard the branch start to crack, he quickly climbed farther up the tree and allowed the branch to snap and drop, knocking off a squaw trying to climb the tree and also landing on several squaws still at the ground.

"This was certainly ungentlemanly." thought Kludde as he watched from above, "Perhaps I should join in."
"I better not, who knows I might get a knock my self." And the black bird dove into the water with tremendous speed.
The savages they called them but also the noble warriors. Squaw Cleans-panties-really-well chuckled cynically to herself when she thought about how their men were regarded.
As always if you want something done, women have to do it themselves. She stopped and ordered her fellow sisters to regroup. this would otherwise never work.
"Stand together," she yelled, "We'll surround each one at a time and let them have it before we move on to the next."
"Now follow my lead!"

Exiting the frenzy that had overtaken her, Liva found herself in the middle of a large circle of more or less unconscious squaws, her hands sore from handling the rope which was now reduced to a beaten rag, and with several bruises, but alive. Her cheeks were sore from the tears that she had not even noticed, and she was hoarse from yelling at her opponents, but she had pulled through. She picked up her bag and made sure she had her stuff before slowly and surely staggering for safety, away from the unconscious squaws and towards the rest of the team. She was pale from exhaustion and collapsed near a tree to recover herself whilst the others handled the remaining threat.

Jackaloup held out his hand to catch the Boomerang, but at the last moment a screech from one of the squaws caused him to lose his concentration. Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Shepherd casually dropped from the tree, landing on one of the mooks that tried to catch him. He snatched away the monstrous looking slingshot he had. "Sir, that is a dangerous weapon!" Shepherd muttered. "As you can't be trusted to use it safely, I will be taking that."
Shepherd surveyed the landscape. Almost everybody was lying in heaps of agony. Shepherd took careful aim at the mook approaching Liva from behind as she was digging through the tents and fired, knocking him unconcious. The new Jack and John was now standing back up, dusting themselves off. "What do we do now?" John asked Shepherd. Shepherd shrugged and pointed at the yellow brick road cutting straight through the town. "Let's follow that, I mean, it has to lead... hey wait a second...it's that blasted light again!"
Everyone looked at where Shepherd was pointing to. It was true, there was that blinking bobbing sort of supernatural light on the yellow brick road.

Nah, he seems fine. Unless, of course, this is a magical type that kills you in 7 hours 77 minutes and 77 seconds (wait a second...). Than I would ask for a cure.
Besides, everyone seem unconscious and it would be completely against Shepherd's character to wait for them to wake up...

Scene 3: The Royal court?
Our group, boils, horns, bruises and all, hurried along the yellow brick road.
"I feel Like were doing it wrong", Liva said, "Like we should be jolly skipping along"
"And something with a little dog in a basket" sheperd remarked.
"Well there are tons of animals that way"
Across a field something of a gathering was seen. The group hurried over.
A herald anounced "The Royal court of His Majesty, the great king Noble from the Puppet state of Nornori is pronounced open.
"That man has broken our laws" Noble, head of Nornori exclaimed calmly, "Take him away"
"But he's your herald" someone objected.
"All the more reason if he's that."
"This court has all the grandeur of a wet tissue" John remarked.
"Who are these people" Noble enquired, "let them speak."

Liva stumbled forward, more curious than actually scared at the strange scene.
"Uhm... Hi. I'm Liva. I don't... I haven't spoken to dogs before, so I don't really know what to say. I'm going to start out by saying that I think that people who have dogs as pets are cruel and that leashing puppies is cruel.

She fumbled her nimble fingers in nerveousness, awaiting the response of the canines.

"Also! Th-s is obv-ously some k-nd of a "gathering, meeting, court, committee, or a convention," but none of these a-e allowed -n Nornori!"
mu-mu--ng grew loude-...
"Although you speak of a "consitution," "constitution" -s not allowed -n Nornori, -n add-tion, we have no "obligation" to follow these rules, for obligation does not exist in Nornori either! Neither can government nor police nor punishment nor ..."
Sheperd paused.
"...anything."
Everything inside the courtroom exploded, for universe and the laws of thermodynamics realized it wasn't allowed in Nornori either and chose to leave.
.................................................................................................... ......................
"What the hell happened?!" Sheperd said. "And why are we suddenly on the road again?"
"Beats me," John said, shrugging his shoulders. "I couldn't understand what you were talking about most of the time anyways."

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
I won't be here for 2 weeks, so it is best to replace me, I apologise.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Thanks for the heads-up.
I'll start the next chapter tomorrow, in the mean time if you know of anybody that would want to join for 2 weeks...

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
I've asked someone who volunteered a while back to fill in. I haven't gotten an answer though.
The group hiked further up the road, still a bit confused about what expired earlier. A few moments later our heroes pass two lonely poplars reaching so far up that its leaves is out of sight.
"You guys are non-stop amusment, aren't you," laughed a familir voice from above.
"I think that deserves another one of my good advices".
The Poplars shrunk in an instance into the silhouette of Lange Wapper.
"Now that we got you cured, I bet you will want to know the exit to".
Lange produced, not without effort, his unsettling ear-to-ear smile.
"I'll show you where you can find it."
Lange Wapper grabs Livia and runs off with her.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, you all need 3 yang each not to get behind. More will close the distance, less will make you lose terrain.
Livia needs 4 yang in order to escape.
OOC: this was the second try on this intro, the first time the internet ate it.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
I'll be away this weekend. So I won't be checking this thread again until monday.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
How much yin do we need to not lose chi?

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Liva struggled against the captor, yelling loudly to intimidate him meanwhile. "Let me go!"
Her hands pounded against the limb that kept her clinched to the figure, underlining each punch with a syllable. "Let - me - go - you - mon-ster!"
She felt a throbbing pain as the beast speeded along the ground, the friction against its fur and the rough bumpling along shaking her, but she keeps screaming and pounding at the beast, desperate to be freed.
All yang (I assume 6 die max, no Yin needed).
Edit: Skill; Stubborn personality

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
ALL YANG
Athletic
Shephered began to sprint towards the fleeing,,,whatever the hell it was.
"Hey, GET BACK HERE YOU! DON'T RUN AWAY WITHOUT SHOWING US YOUR POT OF GOLD, I mean, wait, I am thinking of the wrong kind of fairies here..."

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Jackaloup took off, taking long strides that matched the length of the kidnapper's. Reaching into his pocket as he ran, he pulled out his trusty Boomerang and flung it forward. The projectile made a nasty crack of a sound as it collided with the back of Lange Wapper's head, then began its return to Jackaloup.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Jackaloup and Shepherd immediately started the pursuit. John, somewhat bewildered by the sheer speed of the grab-and-run, didn't react as fast.
Jackaloup threw his boomerang but aiming that thing meant he had to slow down a bit.
With huge strides Lange Wapper tried to put some distance between him and his pursuers.
"This might be the only chance that comes for a long time"
His victim didn't exactly make it easy for him as she kept squirming and beating him. Lange readied himself for another good sprint to be finally rid of those other pesky kids when something hit him in the back of the head. This resulted in a loosened grip for just a fraction of a moment but it is enough for Livia to free herself from Lange's huge arms.
Lange immediately positioned himself between Livia and the rest, who still hadn't caught up, surrounding her with his lengthy arms "You're my ticket out of here, I won't lose you".
With a splash, a huge dog with red eyes jumped out of the body of water in between Shepherd and Jackaloup.
"Whose going to carry me out of here?"
Diamondeye: skill 5, 6 yang successes
Seon: skill 3, 3 yang
Chaotix: skill 3, 2 yang
So, Livia escapes (for now), Sheperd keeps up and Chaotix falls behind. I'll assume Beskar's character had only 1 success.
In other words, we now have our four characters all isolated with 2 nemisses.
Dice cap is 6 as usual.
Both Lange Wapper and Kludde are 'nemesis'. You can attack 1 creature at the same time but his dice cap will increase accordingly.
Both Nemesis have 3 chi and high stats so attacking alone isn't the best idea
You are all 1 'space' apart. So in order for you or Kludde/Lange Wapper to be able to attack/close the gap with another character you'll need 1 yang success.
So, I need whar you will do, against who if applicable, and how many dice you reserve for what (yin against every thin, yang against specific obstacles)
OOC: God Emperor, the reserve player, isn't able to pick up where Beskar left off so I'll be looking for an extra player. Any suggestions are welcome.
Also, that picture of that 'dog' is Kludde not Lange Wapper. Perhaps some research may help your characters.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
Liva panicked. Behind her was the Kludde; a monster impossible to outrun, since the faster you ran, the faster it chased you. The only way to avoid it was to keep still. But then Lange Wapper would catch her again. She froze for a moment and let Lange Wapper get close before suddenly jerking into motion, grabbing one of his hands and quickly performing a powerful grip-sequence with her trained fingers. A sickening sound followed as several of Lange's fingers broke backwards, the bones snapping.
Nimble Fingers; All Against Lange (Yin, right?)

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
I'll be waiting for the other players .
I'll send them PM's right away.

Re: Through the looking glass (wushu game)
"Guys! Hit its weakpoints for maximum damage!" Shepherd shouted, panic striken.
Shepherd quickly took out the slingshot he stole from that Indian a while back and shot several bullets at Kludde's "voolnerables" (if you know what I mean).

And that would be?
Also, I have some bad news. Chaotix seems to have dropped out as well so I'll be looking for yet another player. The game will, unfortunatly, be on hold until then.
