As night fell over Rome for the first time little did the senators of Rome know that soon some of them would no longer be amongst the living. The first man to go would be a man by the name of Decimus Claudius Ingenuus (Death is Yonder) whilst history will not remember his name as he had not done anything that countless others had not done before him. He was the kind of man that was well respected in his age but whose memories would die with the last man who knew him. He never would have being a Caesar the most he could have hoped for was to be a Quintas Cicero a man who is part of the story but not the driver of it. He was a man of great kindness and humality who would never forget a friend. All of these kind traits would count for nothing when the assassins blade came for him. As he sleeps his restful sleep the foul assassin's arrive talking about their plans. Two of the men look to the third for orders. One of the men seems to be restless annoyed with the talking that decided this however he nods respectfully to the third man who says with but a look all they need to know. Decimus is to die. They move into his house killing silently the slaves and servants that look after this senator. They finally reach the room of Decimus move in and kill him. This is no noble death it Decimus a senator and representative of Rome is killed like a swine with his throat cut he dies within seconds and the assassins flee.
Decimus Claudius Ingenuus (Death is Yonder) is dead
The death is yet to be finished as there is another man that will die tonight this time we move to the house of Petronius (Robbiecon) this is a different kind of murder. Petronius is the great survivor he lived through the entire last change of power with his life intact. He has continued to write great witty remarks. Unlike Decimus Petronius would be remembered for an age as his greatest work will survive the passages of time. As he sits down at his desk he writes one final poem which reads as follows.
He that would be an orator, must strive
To follow out the discipline of old,
And heed the laws of stern frugality;
Not his to haunt the Court with fawning brow,
Nor sit a flatterer at great folks' boards;
Not his with boon companions o'er the wine
To overcloud his brain, nor at the play
To sit and clap, agape at actors' tricks.
But whether to Tritonia's famous halls
The Muses lead his steps, or to those walls
That Spartan exiles rear'd or where
The Sirens' song thrill'd the enraptured air
Of all his tasks let Poesy be first,
And Homer's verse the fount to quench his thirst.
Soon will be master deep Socratic lore,
And wield the arms Demosthenes erst bore.
Then to new modes must he in turn be led,
And Grecian wit to Roman accents wed.
Nor in the forum only will he find
Meet occupation for his busy mind;
On books he'll feast, the poet's words of fire,
Heroic tales of War and Tully's patriot ire,
Such be thy studies; then, whate'er the theme,
Pour forth thine eloquence in copious stream."
Petronius smiles at this and goes to bed. With this the assassin moves in once more to kill. He slinks into the room of Petronius and pulls out a gladius. He moves and makes two cuts one to the head of Petronius and the other to his hands that wrote such wonderful words. The killer hacks away cutting off these hands his picks them up the bloody stumps that they are and takes them with him. He moves to the Senate House and writes on the front door here lies the hands of a lie and a fraud. With these his sticks the hands to the door with them and departs.
Death is yonder, as much as I love your name, maybe you should change it to "Life is yonder"

How my voting is suspicious? My first vote was against the first bandwagon on Day 1 when Warman immediately voted second for the same guy. On Day 2, I was looking out for lurker, not on the "lurker bandwagon" - it was my decision. The "Show yourself" was a second call, which didn't help, unfortunately.

As the day ends in Rome once more there appears to be a three way tie. The Consul of the day looks at this and stands and proclaims the following.
As it has being decided that we cannot make a decision my fellow Romans have have asked the the Pontifex Maximus comes here to tell us what signs the gods have given us this day. As the man steps forward making various mutterings about the luck of the gods.Over time the Pontifex falls into a trance as the senators await his decision talking about various things suddenly the Pontifex screams to the heavens that the gods of justice have made their decision. The Pontifex stands moving to point to who it is that will die this day. As the various Senators cringe under the hand of the Pontifex one stares him down and it is this man that the Pontifex points to. The man is Soulblade or Gaius Licinius Mucianus the governor of Syria. This man who had much reason to hate Vespasian would be the one to die.For it was Vespasian who took his command in Syria and prevented him from having a triumph. As Gaius is dragged out he screams and curses Vespasian to the roof tops saying things that could not be said in polite company
Gaius Licinius Mucianus (Soulblade) is dead

As night falls over Rome once again we enter the house of Publius Egnatius Celer (BestcrfPlayer) a lone figure enters the room and finds Celer seemingly in a coma the man gives a gallic shrug before killing Celer in a way that would cause unimaginable pain slowly bleeding out over the next several days as no man seem to come to the house of Celer nore has Celer left it in some time.
Publius Egnatius Celer (BestcrfPlayer) is dead
We now move to another man's house but this house has a much better quality of person living in it Helvidius Priscus (ATPG) is his name and republicanism is his game. This is the man that fought constantly for the republic to be returned a man for who virtue was not some word to be thrown about in elections but was a way of life. The figures move into his house and unlike the other time Priscus is still awake he looks into the eyes of the men that now surround him. The first man begins and commands that Helvidius Priscus not to go into the senate, he replied, "It is in your power not to allow me to be a member of the senate, but so long as I am, I must go in." "Well, go in then," says the man, "but say nothing." "Do not ask my opinion, and I will be silent." "But I must ask your opinion." "And I must say what I think right." "But if you do, I shall put you to death." "When then did I tell you that I am immortal? You will do your part, and I will do mine: it is your part to kill; it is mine to die, but not in fear: yours to banish me; mine to depart without sorrow. I am a man who know the rightness of my beliefs my death shall not stop them nor shall the threat of it make me cower in my bed. Kill me and be done with it. The assassins nod to each other and with the Priscus is killed
Helvidius Priscus (ATPG) is dead

We all knew Helvidius, Prescus, senator. We were all (or should have all been) in cahoots with him. Most of us here are republicans, as was our departed friend. It is clear that certain traitorous elements in our midst are thinning our ranks, removing the most powerful or influential of us. No small-time upstart is behind these murders. No, it must be a man who in turn has great power and influence that is responsible. A man who seeks the imperial throne. I have my suspicion: Vespasian.

Wait, what do you mean by this? I was under the assumption that there were 2 mafiosi who got 2 kills per night, regardless of numbers - that seems to be the most common rules in use at the Org, from what I gather. Also, Captain Blackadder said that if BestrfcPlayer didn't show up during the next day phase he would be WoGed, so his death can't have been because of that. To me, that suggests classical_hero is correct, and one of the mafiosi is inexperienced. Or pretending to be. Or maybe they want us to think that... WIFOM, my head hurts. I don't think so. Typically mafia get one kill for the team, in ATPG's game, 7 mafia (I think) and only two night kills. SO I'd say for a small game, one kill would be suffiicient, especially with a town vig or SK.
Or someone who wants to kill a lurker personally.
1 kill, 3 members seems the logical choice.

I think, from my memory of the previous games, the mafia had one kill per the entire team. In a small game with 17 players, three mafia is balanced I think, and with one nightkill at that. I think two members with two kills is slighlty unbalanced. A serial killer or protown vigilante along with 3 scums in a 17 player game seems okay to me. Maybe there are some other power roles.

We all have personal goals, but if there are 3 Mafia/special, the rest must be pro-Republic/town. Which, of course, I claim to be. Yesterday's lynch writeup was a bit unlike the 4 other deaths. Is that significant?
As my defense, I'll say that, for one, I'm not that inexperienced. I've read through 3 or 4 games here. :clown:
Remember that tomorrow (Day 4) there will be only 8, maybe 9, left. I don't suppose anyone here is a "legit best Mafia player, for realsies", but why risk a Mafia X repeat with frivolous lynches? Of course, there are no good candidates as of now and probably won't be until the endgame, so I'm probably as valid a choice as any.

Ugh. Since 90% of the posts come during the AM hours, I will have to get up pretty early for this one. As one of the four non-voters, I should be courted by those who seek victory.

It's worse than that: I want to sell your land to the barbarians, thereby disenfranchising you freemen while cementing my own position with hordes of loyal warriors! :D
If excitement and death must be inextricably linked, so be it.

I like Montmorency. I give him my dead thumbs up of approval. Still want him to vote though.

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Play]
Fine, but before I vote I should do one of those worthless analyses.
Many ties throughout the day. John would have made it a tie between Warman and robbiecon, but he was 4 minutes late.
Warman was lynched, writeup seems to indicate town.
Final tally:
1 Populus Romanus (Robbiecon) 1 SoulBlade (Visorslash) 2 Major Robert Dump (johnhughthom, issaikhann) 1 Ishmael (Death is Yonder) 2 Robbiecon (Classical_Hero, Warman) 1 Askthepizzaguy (Populus Romanus) 3 Warman (SoulBlade, Askthepizzaguy, Ishmael) 1 Death is Yonder (Major Robert Dump)
1 Abstain (Montmorency)
I have no idea what to take from this, besides that Warman is innocent. Also, it's the 1st day.
Night 1:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
DiY and robbiecon die. Writeups suggest innocence. DiY's similar to Warman's. Robbiecon was a runnerup for the lynch on Day 1. Death is Yonder had voted Dump.
Day 2:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Pizza > Khan
Ishmael > Autolycus
Visor > Bestrfcplayer
Romanus > Montmorency
Autolycus > Romanus
Soul > Gibson
John > Gibson
Classicalhero > Soul
Montmorency > Romanus
Ishmael (unvote) > Soul
Dump > Soul
Pizza (unvote) > Gibson
Khaan > Pizza
Visor (unvote) > Romanus
For much of the day, there was a triple tie between Populus, Gibson, and Soulblade. Autolycus and Montmorency are scum buddies? Autolycus and Visor are scum buddies? :/
The GM randomly (?) killed Soulblade, who went out violently. I don't know what it means, but it is different.
Night 2:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Bestcrfplayer and ATPG die. The former seems to be a de facto WOG? Maybe not? ATPG's death similar to Robbiecon's. Both probably innocent. ATPG was voted by Khaan. ATPG voted Gibson. Crf did nothing ever. No conclusion.
Day 3 (so far):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
John > Gibson
Dump > Gibson
Classicalhero > Romanus
Autolycus > Visor
Visor > Classicalhero
Ishmael > Montmorency
Visor (unvote) > Montmorency
Dump (unvote) > Montmorency
Khaan > Romanus
So we have this late wagon on Montmorency. Eh.
I have no idea, I'm not seeing anything here. Maybe looking at it player-by-player will provide a more useful perspective.
Montmorency: Innocent. Old. Powerful. Pro-republic. That is all speculation, of course. Abstained on Day 1. OMGUS Romanus (tie for lynch) on Day 2. No vote on Day 3 yet.
ATPG: Voted Warman (lynched) Day 1. Voted by Romanus Day 1. Voted Gibson (tie for lynch) Day 2. Voted by Khaan Day 2. Nightkill Night 2. Innocent, I say.
Robbiecon: Voted Romanus Day 1. Voted by Classicalhero and Warman (lynched) Day 1. Nightkill Night 1. Innocent, I say.
BestcrfPlayer: No votes. Voted temporarily by Visor on Day 2. Nightkill Night 2. Innocent, I say.
DeathisYonder: Voted Ishmael Day 1. Voted by Dump Day 1. Nightkill Night 1. Innocent, I say.
Warman: Voted robbiecon Day 1. Lynched Day 1. Innocent, I say.
Soulblade: Voted Warman (lynched) Day 1. Voted by Visor Day 1. Voted gibson (tied for lynch) Day 2. Voted by Ishmael, Dump, and Classicalhero Day 2. Lynched Day 2. I dunno.
I think Romanus' name shows up there a lot, and he's the one who first brought attention to me. Vote: PopulusRomanus.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
A lot of connections between these dead guys, the people they voted, and the people who voted them. Romanus, Ishmael, Visor, Dump, and Classicalhero are the only ones to come out of that mess of names alive. Data is insufficient, no conclusion.
PopulusRomanus: Voted Pizza (killed) Day 1. Voted by robbiecon (killed) Day 1. Frame? Voted Montmorency Day 2. Was voted to tie by autolycus, montmorency, and visorslash Day 2. Apparently gone for a while, so he cannot defend himself.
Classicalhero: Voted robbiecon (killed) Day 1. Voted Soulblade (lynched) Day 2. Is voting Romanus Day 3. Is being voted by Visor Day 3.
Ishmael: Voted Warman (lynched) Day 1. Voted by Death is Yonder (killed) Day 1. Voted Soulblade (lynched) Day 2.Is voting Montmorency Day 3. Has a strategy? Makes much of his own inexperience. Very earnest and eager. When Montmorency dies, all who have been associated with him will have died.
Gibson: No votes. 1 or 2 posts. Voted by Johnhughtom, Pizza (killed), and Soulblade (lynched). Tied for lynch. Is being voted by Johnhughtom on Day 3. Dump was voting him too, but recently switched his vote to Montmorency.
Visorslash: Voted Soulblade (later lynched) Day 1. Voted Romanus (tied for lynch) Day 2. . Is voting Montmorency Day 3, after switching from Classicalhero. Is being voted by Autolycus Day 3
Bowwowwow: No posts. No votes. Not voted by anyone. Well, the very first vote of Day 1 was on him, by Ishmael, but this was soon removed.
Isaikhaan: Voted Dump Day 1. Voted Pizza (killed) Day 2, after Pizza voted for him (but switched). Has not yet voted Day 3.
MRD: Voted Death is Yonder (killed) Day 1. Voted by Khaan and John Day 1. Voted Soulblade (lynched) Day 2. Is voting Montmorency Day 3.
Johnhughtom: Voted Dump Day 1. Voted Gibson (tied for lynch) Day 2. Is voting Gibson again Day 3. Doesn't say much.
Autolycus: Clearly my partner. No, but haven't we seen enough redundancy for one post? He's never been voted, and he's only voted people who threaten me. So there.
Alright, I have contributed nothing and pissed off both town *and* mafia. Either way, I'm dying today.

1 x GibsonSg (johnhughthom)
4 x Populus Romanus (Classical Hero, khaaaaaaaaaaaaan, Visorslash, Montmorency)
1 x Visorslash (Autolycus)
2 x Montmorency (Ishmael, Major Robert Dump)
Tally.
Now... PR seems a decent choice for the lynch to me, but I'd like autolycus to post more. :D

Some people may see that as a panicking scum. (Y'know, a DEFENCE).
It helps us later in the game to analyse patterns and to me, suggests you shouldn't be lynched.

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Play]
You know what Montmorency, I think you've convinced me you aren't mafia. Nice post and analysis. However, the inconsistencies in the killings still strike me as odd. Why kill BestrfcPlayer when he was clearly going to be WoGed the next day? (we know he wasn't WoGed as our host said that would occur if he didn't post in the next day phase, and he was killed the preceding night). Why kill robbiecon if he was a lynch target that day?
Based on this, I'm swinging towards an experienced player trying to frame the newcomers. I don't think Populus Romanus is (still) scum as if he is away for a week he surely would be WoGed/replaced. Unfortunately, I've got nothing beyond this. I think I'll vote johnhughtom on the basis he's been voting very safely, on bandwagons and the like. I've also got an eye on Issaikhaan, who's been slipping under the radar somewhat and only posting the bare minimum (except for that slightly bizzare, tangential conversation with ATPG). In conclusion:
unvote, vote: johnhughtom
FoS: Khaan
EDIT: Thanks Visor

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Play]
Yes hopefully, its just that my second comp is one the fritz and I share the one I am on now and the person I share it with doesn't seem to like me saying I need to do a write up as reason to get it.
