As far as I know, no avatars unique to R:TW Alexander avatars have been uploaded. I'm not aware that Alexander had any portraits different to standard R:TW, which may be why they may not be locatable.Quote:

There was one portrait unique to Alexander, and that was the great king and general himself. Just thought I'd mention that. :sweatdrop:
What an avator that would be
Can user-generated Total War mods be downloaded from the Org,or do they go to some mod website like Total War Heaven? I'm only curious because Taranaich is creating a M2 mod that I'll be getting the game specifically to play.
And one other question: is it possible to install the game on an internet capable computer, install the mod, then save everything to disc for transport to another machine? I tried this once before, but only copied over the desktop shortcut.
My best answers:
1. In the mod sub-forum it should provide a link for you to download from.
2. Maybe. If you copy the game folder "C:Games/Med2" it could work, but it depends. you can copy the mod installer over, or if it is like RTW, the folder will work. It does depend on operating system etc, but 90% chance it will work.
I may have overlooked this in the FAQ,but how do you add the phrases that appear beneath posts? I've got one I'd like to add to my own posts (don't worry,it's not duragatory, profane,or demeaning).
Click the 'User CP' button, the first one on the bar at the top of page...
Then select 'Edit Signature' - it should be at top of list on left.
Type what you want there and save :2thumbsup:
Sorry, haven't found the time to keep this up-to-date: I know there are a few new facets of being a member here that aren't covered, particularly relating to newer members. Would appreciate it if someone (not necessarily staff) could post/PM common queries (and their answers) that aren't in the FAQ (e.g. the new Backroom opt-in membership system). Many thanks.

Ahh a get together by muzzi and therother. Nice comunity spirit I see, yes I think I like it here :clown:
Why did my time between post / thread searches suddenly jump from 15 to 150 seconds?! :help:
Time bewteen posts is around 15-30 seconds for a person with no warnings thats a normal member. It goes up for warnings etc. Mine was around 15 seconds before i was a Senior Member.
15 seconds for a normal member with a large pm box (due to mod leader) and a year of membership.
How do you know these things? :inquisitive:
As pevergreen has said, it is probably related to the addition of warning point(s).
If you have no knowledge of any active warning points which may have caused the problem, click here.
If there are any warnings in the table, check their status in the table (the far right column).
If there are any set as "Active", then this will be your problem. If no warnings are set as "Active", or you have no warnings at all, then you may wish to PM TosaInu to try and configure a solution.
If you do have active warnings, check their "Maturity". The number states how many days are remaining till the warning expires. When all warnings have expired, their restrictions, such as increased flood control, will end. If not PM TosaInu and he should sort it out for you - recently certain scripts related to warning removals have not being working correctly.

I think it is 150 for junior members, looking forward to 15 :clown:
What are referrals?
When someone joins this forum, they have the option of telling the username of the person who referred them to this site. That shows up as a referral.
Sp you gain referrals by someone saying you made them join?
Not quite Tom0.Quote:

This link will direct users to the registration page with your name automatically inserted into the referral field. This will only work if the computer you are using is logged out of the forum.
Other users can find their link, as well as more details about referrals here.

Actually you should be able to post in the Frontroom. Or do you mean the Backroom?Quote:

Are we allowed to change our usernames only once?
I only ask because mine's beginning to sound kinda geeky to me.
You can change your username very 60 days. ~:)
Okay. Then it probably hasn't been two months since my last change. Thanks, and congrats on your award,Martok! :2thumbsup:
I've got a very noob question, but why can I browse the threads only one post at a time?
Welcome aboard Zeibek ~
It appears that you have a problem in your settings. You may be either viewing the thread in the Threaded Mode and/or you may have the system simply set to show only one post per page.
To change the number of posts you can see on the page at one time, firstly, go to your UserCP's Edit Options section and scroll down till you find the section named "Thread Display Options".
In that section, you should find a sub-section with the name "Number of Posts to Show Per Page". In the drop down box set it to whichever value you prefer. Bear in mind that the highest value (80) can be problematic when viewing threads which contain high amounts of data on each page. Using the forum default (40) may be advisable since when referring/linking to thread pages in a thread, different values will provide different posts on different pages.
Also, while you are there, ensure that the "Thread Display Mode" section has its drop down box set to one of the two "Linear" options. Either "Oldest First" or "Newest First" will allow you to see multiple posts per page, only they will be ordered differently. "Oldest First" is the forum's default. The "Hybrid" option can also be used, although I find some aspects of it a little awkward.
Once you've made the changes, scroll to the bottom of the page, and select to "Save Changes". Once you've done that, you should, in theory, be able to browse threads with multiple posts per page.
Hope this is useful to you ~:)
Thanks! Viewing only one post at a time was driving me crazy. I kept looking at the options at the side instead of doing the obvious and scrolling down...
Got a question/suggestion. I have done a search but not seen it specified anywhere . . . what are the rules on inactive thread closure (necromancy)? how long must the thread be inactive before it is officially "dead". It would be helpful if this was in the FAQ somewhere.
From my perspective, a thread never is truly "dead" and "bumping" an old thread right to the top of the forum isn't always entirely wrong if you think the discussion could be expanded or you have something related to the subject to say. I wouldn't say that you should just directly continue the discussion as if the thread were any other though. Bumping for the sake of bumping, just to say, "hey, this is the oldest thread in this forum" or "wow, this thread is very old", for example, is not advisable.
Regardless of this, I personally that it's advisable to provide bit of justification as to why you've bumped the thread (just going straight into your speech often looks a little silly from my perspective) or just give an indication that you are aware of you're thread bumping (not doing so may get a barrage of comments from other users).
Note that this is just my personal view - the ideas of others may, and probably will, be different ~:)
Thread necromancy is not good. If you want to talk about the thread in question, eitherQuote:
FactionHeir says (repeatedly) thread necromancy
a_ You want to write in it and explaining why you do this(give a good reason)
b_ Create a new thread.
I believe the guideline in the Citadel is anything with no new posts in the last two months is considered dead. I don't think it's an exact rule though, and I'm not sure if the same guideline applies for the whole Org.
Generally moderator policy varies greatly across forums due to the high degree of autonomy we are often provided - the basic forum rules must be used as a guide for all actions, but a lot of things are not actually mentioned in the document, including thread bumping. These are the areas we can be flexible in and choose our own stances. There would probably be advantages to a more extensive set of rules and higher levels of consistency, although, as a member of a moderation team, I like running things my own way (to an extent).
If I had to say when I would consider a thread to be past the point of just continuing the conversation as normal, I would say either after it was no longer on the first page and/or was over two weeks - three weeks old. As long as the input were constructive, I would tolerate it though, regardless of it not being how I personally would behave. Obviously a different stance may be/is being taken elsewhere.
~:)
Personally, I feel that reviving any thread that's been inactive for more than 3 months or so usually qualifies as necromancy, and definitely if it's been more than 6 months. This is especially true if (as Omanes pointed out) a person posts something inane like "great thread!" -- if you're going to revive an older thread, then you should be making a substantive contribution to it.
Thanks to Martok and Omanes for replies giving the Moderators viewpoint. Personally I would agree that anything unposted for say 3 months can be regarded as dead. As for "bumping", well it happens and every thread can't be stickied, but it probably is open to abuse. I would however argue, notwithstanding a certain degree of autonomy for mods and recognising that there can be exceptional cases either way, that this is an area where a greater degree of transparency and consistency of policy would be appropriate.
I support it if it is needed, but too many times recently a certain member has been resurrecting 2-3 year old threads for no reason.
:stare:
I take the approach of: If in doubt, contact the local moderator with the thread and your suggested post.
Just read the FAQ's, I am new here but not in the MP community. So I have alot of catching up to do. I may from time to time ask some questions. So bear with me as I stumble my way around here.:dizzy2:
No worries, man; ask away. We try to keep the FAQ thread as uncluttered as possible, though, so you should probably start a separate thread for most questions. ~:)
ahh, so this faq explains why i couldn't reply in certain forums yet. argh, i knew the answer to a question on the history quiz but couldn't answer lol. oh well
I disagree, my dear friend. I own these stables.
Hello! I couldn't find anything in the FAQ about when you are given access to the Backroom. I'm able to enter the backroom but I can't see any threads there (there's just a message saying "There are no posts in this forum."). Could anyone enlighten me? :)
1. Go to Settings
2. Scroll down and find Permission Groups
3. Find Backroom and Join the group.
4. Wait until you've been approved.
Many thanks to you
Where exactly can I find that Posting Rules box. I don’t see anything like that at the top left corner of my screen...?Quote:
Junior Members can also search most of the main forums: see the advanced search page for more details. You can check you posting privileges for any given forum by checking the Posting Rules box, usually at the top left corner of your screen.
Edit: Or is that meant to be the "Posting Permissions" box at the lower right of the screen?
I think it might mean the Posting Permissions in the lower right. We remodeled the forums once or twice but it has been a quite a while since the FAQs have been updated, so they are a bit out of date with some information.
@Gregoshi is, as usual, spot on.
Well, welcome to the Org Mariap! Anything we can help you with about RTW?
Thanks!
