Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
I have to agree. Turns should only be played one time anyway. I committed a gaffe of my own in one of the games (won't say which! :clown: ) and you just hav to roll with it.
At any rate, no harm was done, and you used the old save ayway. No harm, no foul :2thumbsup:
Look at it this way, it makes Anglo-Welsh relations more...interesting.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Hey, you guys seem like you have no lives and want more gaming fun on your plate! :clown:
Check out the Multiplayer Tournament if you want to try your hand online. You can't get enough Medieval 2 Total War. If you have never tried online, that's ok, most everyone I know hasn't.
And so I'm not hijacking the topic, I agree with PK and Zim. Some of the screw-ups are just more interesting anyways.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Unfortunately, I don't have the internet connection for that kind of thing. :sweatdrop:
I think it's pretty much been settled that reloading is not allowed. No need for everyone to chime in that they agree. 3 of the 5 players here are new to hotseat games, and when I first started I had to ask to see if I could reload to make an adjustment regarding an agent move (obviously, I couldn't ~;p).
Any future rules concerns should be pmed to me first. As the GM, I'm the one who has to be the badguy and tell people what they can't do. :clown:

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Now on a lighter and possibly off-topic note, between turns in the hotseat games I've been playing Europa Universalis 3. I thought I would see if I could make Wales a first rate power. :beam:
After several brushes with death and two wars, the first of which I lost any chance to gain a foothold in my preferred colonization spot(South America), and the second of which lost me one of my home territories, almost all of my colonies, and 90% of my yearly income, I've finally started to recover.
All bow down before my mighty Empire!
It stretches through the mighty northern end of Wales in Europe.
https://img503.imageshack.us/img503/...mage003zs9.jpg
Then, on the west coast of North America, I control all from the thriving metropolis of New Jansylvania (Don't ask what happened to the old one :sweatdrop: )
https://img265.imageshack.us/img265/...mage001cz1.jpg
to the frozen, desolate backwater of Ludwigistan in the north.
https://img518.imageshack.us/img518/...mage002lz0.jpg
:laugh4: Bwahahahahaha! Tremble before my mighty Empire!

I have my usb key with me at work - if you get the save uploaded today (ie. in the next 8 hours or so) I'll be able to dl it here, take it home, play, and upload from work on monday..otherwise we'll just wait until monday, so no hurry
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Doings have been afoot in the Crusades campaign, but not that its over ,I'll download the save now, and I promise to have it done in, say, two hours?
Is that good?

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
fine by me - like I say, no hurry, just wanted to let you know in case I dropped off the radar for more than 48 hours - technically I'll be exceeding the deadline this turn as I probably won't be able to get it uploaded until monday
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/Britannia-3-2.zip
Done!
The deadline is more of a "I need to know if you need more time within 48 hours" than a strict deadline to finish the turn.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
I have it on my usb key - if my wife allows it I may be able to play it this evening and upload it before we move tomorrow..don't hold your breath though, I have lots of boxes to pack

Go ahead and take it with your catapults (did you reaad my pm the other day?).
King Henry will take it that the men in the fort occupied it without his permission, and the Welsh are free to go through it.
We will renegotiate the ceasefire next turn.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Ok, we're rapidly nearing the 48 hours mark.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Roadkill is online but in the Gameroom.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
He's been online a lot the past couple days. I'm hoping he'll check the throneroom and see that post. Otherwise I may need to find a sub tomorrow.
:sweatdrop:

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
You could just shoot him a PM...
:laugh4:

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
I prefer not to if I don't have to. It seems more like hounding the person then. :clown: I guess I will, he only has a few hours, technically.

Done. I love this turn. :2thumbsup: It is started. ~;)
Unfortunately, I cannot upload the savegame for some reason; I will try it later today.

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
I don't suppose you could email it? Will it not upload at all, or just not to the PBM filespace?
Edit: Starting your war with a bang, Cheetah?

Yeah, with a Big Bang!
And no it is not uploading at all. It has to wait for tomorrow. Sorry.
Also, phonicsmonkey, sorry I mixed up the name of your king in the council thread. In retrospect I think it fits the norse, I mean what would they care about the name of your king, when he is dead anyway. ~;p ~;)

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Cheetah, hark at the words of the ancient prophesy:
'O Feidelm Prophetess, how do you see our host?’
‘I see it blood-stained, I see it red,’ said Feidelm and she spoke as follows:
I see a fair man who will perform weapon-feats, with many a wound in his flesh. A hero's light is on his brow. His forehead is the meeting-place of many virtues.
In each of his eyes are the seven jewel-bright pupils of a hero. His spearpoints are unsheathed. He wears a red mantle with clasps.
His face is beautiful. He amazes women-folk.This lad of handsome countenance looks in the battle like a dragon.
Like is his prowess to that of Cú Chulainn of Murthemne.I know not who is this Cú Chulainn of fairest fame, but this I do know, that by him the army will be bloodily wounded.
I see a tall man in the plain who gives battle to the host. In each hand he holds four small swords with which to perform great deeds.
He attacks with his gáe bolga and also with his ivory-hilted sword and his spear. He can ply them on the host. Each weapon as he casts it has its own special use.
This man wrapped in a red mantle sets his foot on every battle-field. Across the left wheel-rim of his chariot he attacks them. The distorted one kills them. I see that he has changed from the form in which hitherto he has appeared to me.
He has moved forward to the battle. Unless heed be taken, there will be destruction. I think that it is Cú Chulainn mac Súaldaim who now comes to you.
He will lay low your entire army. He will slaughter you in dense crowds. Ye will leave with him a thousand severed heads.
The prophetess Feidelm does not conceal your fate.

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Got the save and should upload the new one in a while.
Save is up! Britannia-4-2.zip
Giving what's been going on in the Teutonic thread, I feel I should clarify a few things in case they come up later.
-Subs have full access to the old saves of the faction they're subbing for to look around before making a turn. This will help them determine the situation for the faction they're subbing for.
-Subs should not make any drastic changes in the actions of the faction they're subbing for (i.e. attacking the faction's long time ally, unless they knwo the original palyer waws planning to).
-If you do think someone improperly used a save and sent you information you shouldn't have, please do not forward it in it's entirety to me if it includes your faction's plans or those of your allies. I don't want to know, and it would be almost impossible for me to pretend that I didn't read the information. Just tell me in vague terms what they did (this guy got into Scotland's save and gave away troop positions, etc.) and I'll figure something out.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
sorry, this is probably my fault but if you're posting the save can you put it in a new post next time?
only I was looking out on the forum page for a new post in this thread - didn't occur to me that you might edit your old one...so I missed this
anyways, I'll get to it tonight
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
On my computer with wireless it gives a url for the save when I upload, but with my dial-up computer it doesn't, so I just posted the name of it. It's in the PBM filespace, hit "view", then the most recently updated thing twice.
Best I can do, I've been banished form the comp with wireless (it's in the kitchen) while cooking is being done. :sweatdrop:
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
lol @ King Henry banished from the kitchen
that's fine, I don't really need the URL, I can look it up on the upload page like you said
but if you could create a new post (rather than editing the old one) then the thread gets bumped to the top of the forum page and I know there's an update that I need to check...
is that ok? just means I don't have to keep scanning the thread for edits...
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
:laugh4: I was confused earlier when Gibson editted a post of his to add a save for our Frozen Crusade game. I think in both cases the poster was unsure whether double-posting was ok. I'll do it anyway from here on in, noone's warned me for it yet.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
check out the Imperial Library then, TC's made a lot more than 2 posts in a row there :clown:
oops, better get out of this thread. I know you never wanted me in here as you started it right in the middle of the night in England :clown:

:help: He discovered our secret plan to exclude anyone anywhere near GMT from our game (cheetah slipped through somehow. :clown: ).
We'll have to let loose the Austrian Crusader Ninjas to get him!
P.S. I figured it would take a day or two to get all the players we needed. I was pretty surprised we had five so quickly.

:laugh4: fair enough, but remember the Franconian Lutheran ninjas are far more effective so I'm hardly worried :clown:
Even if I had joined I would certainly end up being annihilated by you for the third time, of course it will happen in the Teutonic one soon, I've seen your giant armies hiding behind trees!
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
We're on opposite sides of the map in that game and Tristan is annihilating me. :clown:

Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Crusading German Mediaval Ninjas!!!!!
:7ninja:
On a more serious note, I agree that the the new save should be posted in a totally new post, even if it means "double posting". I have noticed people not get to their save for awhile since they didn't check for edits.
As for the rules, double-posting seems to be ok, spam is not. So, as long as it is not "spam", your good.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Then from here on I shall double post!
Since the subject of how much time can be given for people to play their saves has come up in another game, and the holidays are upon us, I need to ask a question.
How many of you will have some trouble playing between the start of next week and New Year's Day?
If more than half the players are going to be out of comission for that week and a half, I'm thinking of doubling the amount of time people have to play saves to 4 days (or even more). If all of them (but me, I have no life and I'm free :clown: ) we may go on hiatus. If only one or two can't make it, then I'd like to see if they could find a sub.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
I was just thinking about that
I will probably be able to play a turn or two on either xmas eve, xmas day or boxing day
but I'm leaving for hong kong on the 27th and I don't get back 'til the 3rd Jan
I would REALLY rather not have to hand over to a sub, but if that's the ruling I guess I'll live with it
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Well, that's about ten days from now. We'll see what happens.
If enough people are having problems over the holidays, I'll definately lengthen the time limits. That's what I'm trying to check about.

hey phonicsmonkey, (was Sinan at first, your avatars look similar, and hes always hanging about here being unproductive :P)
just to let you know, if you need a sub i'm more than willing. zim knows im not the kind of person to screw around with your faction, and if you leave me some precise instructions im sure it wouldnt be too great of a problem
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
hey, thanks for the offer deguerra - I'll definitely take you up on it if the GM rules that way...:2thumbsup:
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
I don't mind if you set up subs in advance. It makes things easier. deguerra is certainly trustworthy. Ireland would be safe in his hands for a turn.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
sure, but I won't sub unless I have to because I'm having too much fun playing the turns myself :2thumbsup:
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Hey guys, I am in need of a sub. I will be away for christmas vacation for a week. I'm terribly sorry.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
That's fine. What days do you need the sub, Roadkill?
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
The 23rd to the 29th of December.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Ok, if you play your current turn soon, there's a fair chance you won't come up again until after the Holidays. I expect everyone to go a bit slower next week, and will be lenient on turn times.
In the Grand Campaign hotseat, France comes early, though. Would you mind if I or a sub you trust took your first turn if it comes up then? Just leave instructions and they'll be followed.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Okay, I'll do the this turn a little bit later, need to finish some homework first.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
otherwise, again, Id be happy to
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
I don't want to post in the Tuetonic hotseat thread, since I figure the next player will be more likely to check the thread if he notices the guy before has the last post. Thus, I'll do this here.
The Teutonic game is moving! Better yet, since the same player is going for the Crusade hotseat, that means that one will be moving as well!
Woot! :jumping:
Now that that's out of my system...I may be taking you up on your sub offer, deguerra, if Roadkill can't get to his turn soon. :sweatdrop:
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
send me a PM. I would be able to do it around about 18 hours from now, when I get home from work.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Ok, that'll give him about a full day to play his turn. I guess the homework took too long, but it's more important than the game, anyway.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Done but sorry to busy to put up the link, but it is in the pbm upload folder.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Alright, I'll go find it. I'll play it "soonish".

It is RK and he is on holidays, or not? IMO we should ask the sub to step in.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Hopefully Zim and RK worked something out for Wales. We'll see what happens.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Roadkill is supposed to be out after tomorrow (the 23). If he cant play by then, the sub will take of it.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Sorry, I don't think I can take it as I have to pack and prepare for the trip, so the sub can step in. I'll pm him the orders. Wait who is my sub?
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
deguerra's offered to do it if you'd like.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
yeh im up for it roadkill just let me know what you want
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Im taking Wales' save now. Would it be reasonable to propose an alliance with Scotland, given they are now in the same war, or am I going too far there as a sub?
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
right. im told scotland is unsure, so ill leave it for now and get on with things. ceasefire with england apparently. save will be here in a jiffy
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
personally I would leave it alone deguerra, roadkill can do that when he's back if he wants to - wales won't be disadvantaged in the meantime by keeping the status quo
thanks for subbing in so the show can go on!
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
Bwahaha...my evil plan is coming to fruition! :skull:
Actually, the old ceasefire just had to be destroyed when Wales needed to go through one of my river forts to get his army back into his territory after we made our deal.
-
Re: Britannia Hotseat Campaign:OOC thread
here it is gents:
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/Britannia-5-4.rar
hope .rar is ok, didn't propose the alliance, as yeh i figure it doesnt really matter. will pm roadkill telling him what ive done and PK that scotland is up. Zim, you are already neutral with wales, so no ceasefire necessary.
edit: roadkills inbox is full...guess itll have to wait until he comes back. just for reference, roadkill, I have a list of things I did, just let me know if you want to see it
-
