Great AAR, really funny, keep up the good work. And more soon plz lol:whip:
well everyone, good news: im getting a new laptop, with 2 gigs of DDR2 Ram, a 2.0 ghz processor, the nvidia Geforce 256 mb 8600 GT, and windows XP too :2thumbsup: .....
its coming sometime in between the 20th and the 23rd, so after i get it im going to install EB, install the spoils of victory minimod (the only minimod i have installed) copy over the EDU to the new EB file, and copy the savegame for this AAR over to my new laptop, and hope that it work.
if it does work, then you will see incredibly good graphics when i update, but if worse comes to worse, ill keep playing EB on m desktop, which has a better processor but not as good video card, and maybe ill start a lusitannn campaign (w/o an AAR) on the laptop.... to play during school....
btw, how do i get EB into window mode, so i can play in school and quickly minimize it if the teacher comes by?
ummm Core 2 Duo? it's better than whatever you have at moment..Quote:
a 2.0 ghz processor
you have no XP so far? :shocked2:
ya, its core 2 duo. my current processor is 2.53, and not 2 core duo, so im not really sure. and btw, i hate vista, its slow and EB works strangly w/ it, so luckily every dell buisness category computer gives you the option of either vista or XP- no extra charge- i also think that if you order XP they give u vista too... im not sure. anyhow, the entire system cost me $5 short of $900..... the insipron, for the same system, would have cost me much mor, at least $200 more. on the other hand, my friend, who is a die-hard mac fan, wanted to me to get a mac, but i said, nah- macs arent good for gaming.....
Chapter 17- A Sigh of Relief
In the winter of 248, the Makedonians launched an attack on Tylis. It failed, and they were beaten back.
(Insert picture of Maks beaten back)
Unfortunately, there was a reserve Makedonian army coming to assist him, so it is doubtful the town will last long.
So we sent our diplomat to do two things. First, he journeyed over to the camp of the Makedonian general, Karenos Argeades.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...makgeneral.jpg
Our diplomat told him how by attacking Tylis, it was breaking our agreement, and it could cause war. Karenos laughed and rudely sent our diplomat packing. As he was leaving, he heard Karenos say to an aide, “Moronic Getai! Don’t they understand that this is all planned?!”
The aide laughed.
That Makedonian sure could keep a good secret- our diplomat ran back and told us everything.
Then our diplomat went to the Epeirote king and requested that he helps us in our fight against the Makedonians. He agreed, for the Makedonians were also their enemy for a long time. But, them being Hellenes, we don’t know how long they will commit, and when we are through with the Makedonians, if they will turn on us……
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...eagreement.jpg
In the meantime, our Vasil was getting old. He could barely ride a horse in battle, and his end was getting closer. It was time to choose an heir.
Until then, Dizo per Rekidava, the second of Zalmodegikos’s sons was the heir, but Dizo was older than Oroles, and he was on his deathbed as well. So Dizo was unfit. Instead, he chose a new addition to the family, Zyraxes per Dokidava.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...actionheir.jpg
The family was in an uproar, especially Koson, Oroles’s firstborn.
“How could you choose a person who was only in this family for less than two years?!”
“Koson, my son, this is a confederation, not a monarchy. While I may be king, everyone has a chance to become king and everyone has a fair say in leadership. I feel that Zyraxes is the best choice to become our next leader. However, he has yet to prove himself in combat, which is something you are much better at."
Oroles meant every word he said. Indeed, I was there when he said that! he confided to me that he would tell Zyraxes to give command of the second army, which was soon to be raised, to Koson, but also to keep an eye on him, in case he gets any ideas….
We also talked to the leader of Tylis, Virssuccois. He said the Makedonians were in such a rabble when they busted through their walls, it was easy for his men to slaughter them, but still, the Makedonian’s overwhelming numbers wore them down.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ndgarrison.jpg
“If we are attacked once more, we are finished. But we give you our word; we won't go down without a fight!”
“Don’t you worry, if they do it again, then we will come down upon them like a bat out of hell!”
“Thank you, noble messenger of the Getai, if we pull through this, we can assure you that we will join your confederation!
“Well, we don’t know if we can allow you too…. You see, your town and Serdike are the buffer towns in between the Getai and Makedonian. So, we’ll have to see.”
“Well, in any case, we are in your debt. Farewell!”
So in the spring of 247, our Vasil entered Buridava, where he would stay for the rest of his days, and gave command of the army over to Zyraxes, as all the border cities were fortified and defenses were prepared.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...-spring247.jpg
Even though Zyraxes was new to the family, he knew exactly what was going on, and he made camp in a location where he could easily respond to any crisis.
Everyone knew war was looming.
LOL once again you deliver my man. I love the Epirus guy talking about using his full stack. Classic.
LMAO
Wow no action but so great a chapter. You rule. Lend my some of your sense of humor.
Haha, the humour in this is almost perfect. Not to overdone, and in perfect style, i really like this AAR!

thanks for the comments everyone! :2thumbsup:
unfortunately, i cant update this weekend, for i will be in NY for my end-of-season wrestling tournament, but i will try to play on wensday... i think ill be too tired on teusday to play......
ROFL!!!! that Epirote Stack is Classic!
good news everyone! my laptop came early (last thursday to be exact- a few hours after i left for NY :wall:)- but im having trouble w/ the touchpad- the pointer keeps jumping around the screen- my friend thinks its static, so im calling dell support, but in the meantime, im buying a wireless mouse, which i will need anyways to play EB.
btw, oops- my mistake- the video card is a 512 mb, not 256..... lol.....
fixed the problem- installed EB, installed the spoils of victory minimod, tranferred the changed stats in the EDU which i changed previously, and copied the savegame file to my laptop. well, it works, and the graphics now are AMAZING! (having a 512 mb video card will do that)
ill try to update either today or tomorrow- if i have time.....
Chapter 18- War!
In the spring of 248, another Makedonian army besieged Tylis.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...finalsiege.jpg
And before anyone could react, they captured it.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/.../provoking.jpg
After the battle, the few survivors of the Tylis garrison trickled into Zyraxes' camp.
They asked angrily why they got no support from our forces.
"Where were you?! Where were those promised forces?"
"You must understand. it takes a good week and a half for news to travel here. by that time, the Makedonians already occupied your town. now leave, for I will hear nothing more of the matter. if you want, you are welcome to join our army, which will take action soon."
His aides approached him.
"What's your plan of action sir?"
"We are going to wait until the second army under Koson is ready, then we invade."
"Sir, Kosons' army is already done."
"Very well. Prepare the men for war. The clouds of war are here."
if i may just add, im now playing this on my laptop, where it takes a minute to load EB, and 30 second AI turn times..... just wait till you see the graphics....
after all, what do you expect from a laptop which can play Crysis with ease?
ROFL
"Getai scum coming right up!":laugh4:

Chapter 19- The Makedonian War- Part 1
In the autumn of 244, our Vasil, Oroles per Drobeta, dies of old age. Zyraxes per Dokidava is now the leader of our great confederation.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...leaderdead.jpg
Our armies moved in….
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...movingin-1.jpg
But first, we made an alliance with the Makedonians sworn enemy, the Koinon Hellenon.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...alliance-1.jpg
And finally, we attacked the town of Tylis, under Makedonian control, and with it, the struggle began. Our army was composed entirely of mercenaries taken from escapees of Tylis.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...etaivsmaks.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ngfortylis.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...gfortylis2.jpg
The battle started with our horse archers and slingers shooting all their arrows and stones at those accursed Makedonians.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...sinsupport.jpg
They killed many.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/.../carnage-2.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...laughtered.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...yunderfire.jpg
Soon, our mercenaries stormed in, and made contact.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...tcontact-2.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ondcontact.jpg
Our German mercenaries also wanted to get in the fighting, so we sent our heaviest unit of German swordsmen to deal with an enemy phalanx on our left flank.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...sattacking.jpg
With their left flank in peril, they sent what was remaining of their Prodomoi to assist.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...otherescue.jpg
They were soon driven off.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...iattacking.jpg
Their general charged us next, and we handily cut him, along with his bodyguards, down.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ttacking-2.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...eraldead-4.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...neraldead2.jpg
The mercenaries went on and attacked the central plaza, killing all who opposed them.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...sattacking.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...rtalcombat.jpg
Soon, there was only one unit of levy phalanx left, and everyone joined in on the slaughter, even the German skirmisher cavalry.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...sattacking.jpg
Soon, they were on the verge of breaking…..
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...4/breaking.jpg
And even sooner, they were all dead, and the town was taken!
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ebration-1.jpg
We lost few.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/.../results-8.jpg
While this battle was going on, another was going on as well…..
Chapter 20- The Makedonian War- Part 2- The Battle for the Pellic Forest
While the battle for Tylis was going on, our new Vasil, yet to be battle tested, attacked a smaller Makedonian army in the very homeland of Makedonia herself, in the Pellic Forest.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...starting-6.jpg
It was under the Makedonian general who started this whole war. Accompanying Karenos was his relative, Demetrios.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...kcowardpic.jpg
So the battle began.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...tarting2-1.jpg
We were in a very heavily forested terrain, so any accuracy in archery was limited, but, being that our archers were Skythian, the original archers, they had ease with it, and soon they were slaughtering Makedonian soldiers.
While the slaughter was going on, we sent our heavy cavalry to engage their heavy cavalry and generals.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...valrymelee.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...alrymelee2.jpg
Soon we had their cavalry in retreat, while we pelted them with arrows.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...gunderfire.jpg
At that moment, our infantry, which were hiding, burst from the woods and attacked an unsuspecting Makedonian foe.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...charging-1.jpg
(there is something epic about this photo- i think ill submit it for the contest next month...)
At about this time, Karenos was slain.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...eraldead-5.jpg
And Demetrios was running for his life.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/.../makcoward.jpg
Our infantry engaged the enemy soldiers and soon routed them.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...antrymelee.jpg
It was a slaughter.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...poorlevies.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...14/trapped.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...stgalatian.jpg
Finally, they had only one man left on the battlefield, and he was soon slain.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...14/lastman.jpg
The battle was won, and only three Makedonians were alive to tell the story.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/.../results-9.jpg
All in all,the year 244-243 were very successful years.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...uation-243.jpg
Soon, Zyraxes would march on Pella herself.
Awesome, a double update! Your story is both epic and hilarious, hooahguy. I like the train of stacks you've got their- but it looks like it's taking a huge toll on your economy!
are you kidding me? im completly broke right now (probably should have mentioned that) but im going to use 1/2 the garrison of Tylis to garrison Pella with, if not more, then use the other 3 stacks to defeat the rest of the makedonian forces, then ill move onto the KH and the Epierotes, then turkey.....
"writer's block" but still funny lol
Say if you're doing such negatives how do u get so many men?
well, one of those stacks is pure levies to garrison everything, and before i was raking in the cash, but i must have used it up.... :embarassed:
ah! fast to read, very nice, and funny! you have some humour... the block of the writer line was too funny:laugh4:
[anyway about that "block of the writer" line, i dare to make a suggestions: it's not you have to fill every single pic with a funny line, if you alternate, some epics lines with some funny ones, the funny line become ever more funny.
regarding graphics, you can add graphics blocks from another picture, just opening two sessions, or three, of mspaint at the same time. Load a picture in a session, and another or the same picture in the second session, than cut and past a block of graphic from a picture to another. For example you can copy the gold amount infos from the GUI, and paste it on the campaign map pics or other things like that]
continue this!:2thumbsup:
Great updates! I love the thing about the Germans, really hilarious!
Chapter 21- a Simple Slaughter
In the winter of 242, Makedonia was setback. its best general, Soson Kydreaios, was accompanying a scouting party, when our Vasils' army attacked. they had no choice but to fight, and they knew they were doomed.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ttlebattle.jpg
The battle was on a nice day, and even though there was snow on the ground, there was no wind. therefore, our Vasil sent all of our horse archers forward to rain death on the Makedonians.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...HAmarching.jpg
He sent our Skythian nobles to charge the enemy.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...4/marching.jpg
They made contact.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...y14/impact.jpg
Soson fought hard, but it was not enough.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...alfighting.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...neralslain.jpg
Soon after, the enemy broke, and we won the day.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...results-10.jpg
While this was going on, a tattered band of soldiers arrived in Buridava. When we asked where they came from, they replied "we come from a place without hope."
It was a Makedonian family member, Amopaon Argeades, brother of Demetrios Argeades.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...aitorgreek.jpg
We asked him why he was here.
"My friends, I have a story to tell. I used to be in command of the largest army in Makedonia. A few weeks ago, we were beset my a large Epeirote army. They destroyed us. only i and a few others remained. With the army went all my faith in Makedonia. Seeing that I couldnt join the Epeirites, and I definitly cant join those Philosophy-loving greeks in Athens. The only way I can think of to get my revenge is to join you and your confederation. That is my request. I can assure you I will serve you loyally and with honor."
"we accept. welcome Ampoaon. I trust you will serve well."
After Ampoaon left, and word had been sent to Zyraxes about what happened, he gave us very specific instructions.
"Keep guard over that man and monitor every converation he has. He has yet to prove his loyalty...."

YAY!! This was my comic relief...UPDATE!!
Chapter 22- Onto Pella!
In the spring of 241, our Vasil decided to end this war once and for all. we would send the best two forces we had against the Makedonian capital city, Pella. The plan was simple: the Makedonians had put thier best forces in Pella, and we certainly couldnt fight them in hand to hand. there were too many of them for that. so we would force them to come out and fight, like real men. then we would see who shall prevail: the true Dacian or those scum-bags, the Makedonians!
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...14/pella-1.jpg
at least,my insistancy didnt pass, come with a big update dude! :D
dont be discouraged yet, loyal fan... one is on the way...
gimme gimme
so before i post my next update, i just want to say that because of an unfortunate happenings to my laptop (it broke, and i wont be getting it back for a month- screen broke and some internal damage) i had to go back to my old computer, with the worse graphics. so sorry for the not as good graphics you were expecting.
but still, enjoy to the fullest! :2thumbsup:
Chapter 23- At the gates of Pella
In the autumn of 241, our leader, Zyraxes per Dokidava, moved his army closer to Pella, the Makedonian Capital city, with the heir to the throne, Koson, backing him up.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...movingin-2.jpg
And in the winter of 241 we laid siege to Pella…
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...uy14/ready.jpg
Then the enemy sallied out, risking their capital in one battle… fools…
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...commencing.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ebeginning.jpg
There was much confusion. The Makedonians had brains and sent a very small force around our backs to deceive us. Thus, we faced all of our forces at that (one unit of levy archers, while the main enemy force snuck up on our backs.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...menuvering.jpg
I myself spotted the main enemy force, and told my Vasil. He sounded the alarm, and we quickly sent a unit of cavalry to deal with the lone unit of archers.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...kingforce1.jpg
We wheeled our main battle line to face the bulk of the enemy forces, but we couldn’t get it all together in time.
Our horse archers went forward prematurely to attack, and were rushed by the Makedonian medium cavalry.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ryengaging.jpg
Our Vasil rushed forward heroically.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...iattacking.jpg
As that battle was going on, there were three very fierce battles going on both flanks and in the middle.
On the left, it was under control. We were killing Makedonians easily.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...nattacking.jpg
In the middle, it was harder fighting, but it was also contained.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...esfighting.jpg
On the right flank, it was frantic. Our flank was surrounded, but miraculously the line held up. Surely, the gods meant it to be as so!
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...surrounded.jpg
But then we killed Demetrios!
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...eraldead-6.jpg
Their line crumbled everywhere, even on the right flank. Our men pursued ruthlessly.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...hellothere.jpg
Even the most disciplined troops in the world, the Makedonian Silver-shield phalangites, ran like rabbits!
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...plinedrout.jpg
(I know thats not their real name, but i couldnt remember it. sorry)
Soon it became a mass rout.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...outingmass.jpg
Just then, as there were but a few enemy units left on the battlefield, Koson decided to show up with his army, and trapped a few routing units, enabling him to claim that he did something in this battle.
Our Vasil, who only had 2 bodyguards left, including me, watching as his over 2,800 strong army came over the hill.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...4/watching.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...amefinally.jpg
We chased them until we could chase them no more.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...14/chasing.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ingcowards.jpg
In the end, it was a joyous day for us.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...results-11.jpg
When we entered the city of Pella- unopposed- we slaughtered most of the inhabitants, especially the members of the Makedonian royal council who decided to have faith in the Makedonian army.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ceisfutile.jpg
Then we heard news that the Kingdom of Pontos had declared war on us, for no apparent reason.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...xpectedwar.jpg
When we implored further, we found out that the town of Nikaia, in Asia Minor, revolted from Pontic rule and decided to come under our flag without asking us first. So we provided no support for them, and they were soon conquered by the Pontic forces in the area. It was sad, but we could do nothing, for all of our forces, save for a horse archer force in the Bosporus, are in Greece fighting the Makedonians.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...4/occupied.jpg
When all of these events were said and done, we set our sites on the last Makedonian stronghold in Greece…. the city Demetrias.
That is, once we finish retraining our forces from our losses we have sustained in the past few years.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/.../demetrias.jpg
Noooo! Demetrios!
You dirty barbarians!
...
Nice update. :2thumbsup:
Wow great update!! Note to self...don't scratch an itch with your sword! Very funny as usual. So you beat the Macedonians in a pitched battle! That must have been intense. As soon as you killed Demetrios I could not help but think of MAA and his AAR. Your little tribe is beginning ot look like a world power! Great job!!
ya.. i actually paused the battle and stared at the body of demetrios for a few minutes..... i was going to take a picture, but then i decided he was too much of a coward in my campaign to honor him w/ a picture.
yes, in truth. it was a very tough battle- i was really afraid Zyraxes was going to die. but then again, it would have made for a really juicy storyline.... one which i will reveal soon.....
but my favorite part of this update was the "always look on the right side of life"
The douglas adams reference (the answer to live and I'll let you live.... 42) was hilarious:laugh4: :laugh4: :2thumbsup:
keep it comming:laugh4:
Good to see you back, hooahguy. This just gets funnier. But what's going to happen now with 1.1 out? :inquisitive:
ONE OF 2 THINGS:
1)i quit this aar and try a new one (but this is pretty unlikely)
2) start a new campaign, "fast forward" it to where i am now (auto-calc battles, ect, and try to get similar events going on) and continue on from there.
i think option 2 is best.
what does everyone else think?
Stick with it man. You have done too much to start over. Then when you do finish start a new AAR with the 1.1 build. There is going to be a flood of new AARs in the next few days with the new build. You are already established and have a loyal following. Take your time there will be plenty of time to play 1.1 later.Quote:

ok, so i decided what im going to do: since i have 2 computers that have EB installed on, i am going to keep 1.0 on my desktop, and install 1.1 on my laptop. i am going to try to. as i stated before, fast forward a new getai campaign and try to get where i am now. if that fails, i will start a provate campaign but keep going with the AAR on my desktop, where 1.0 is still on. if i can do it, with keeping things minimally different, then i will continue it on my laptop.
Chapter 24- The World in Flames
The years of 240-239 were years that will never be forgotten in my lifetime, which is getting closer to the end by the minute.
I am growing weak, and soon I, Dizion per Drobeta, will pass from this world. Soon my son will take over my position of bodyguard to the Vasil. Already I am too weak to ride in the saddle, and I have been honorably dismissed of my duties to the Vasil. However, I will continue to write our history until the end.
We have scouted the ends of the earth, and we have found much has been heating up in the world. Over in the east, a nation called Baktria is amassing its forces once again.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...stinflames.jpg
In Asia Minor, Pontos and Arche Seleukia fight over Nikaia,
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...heatingup1.jpg
And Makedonia, seeing that their homeland in the Hellas is in grave peril, attack Pergamon, but is beset by Ptolemaic forces.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...heatingup2.jpg
Speaking of Makedonia, an army under Koson per Drobeta has advanced on the city of Demetrias, getting within a few miles before the winter of 240.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...edoorsteps.jpg
And in the spring of 239, Koson lays siege to Demetrias, the last major stronghold of the Makedonians in all of Europe.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...reeceinwar.jpg
A bit to the east, a mighty Koinon Hellenon army advances on Chalkis, the second of the two remaining Makedonian cities on the continent.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...instrength.jpg
East of Pergamon, the Arche Seleukia attacks Galatia, prompting a great outcry among the Galatian members of our armed forces.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...tiainvaded.jpg
Soon, the Arche Seleukia takes Galatia, causing riots in many of our cities where the Galatian refugees have amassed.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...iaoccupied.jpg
To our west, the distant cousins of the Hellenes, the Romani, are creating an empire that is rivaling our own….
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...aheatingup.jpg
They have even challenged the might of the Carthaginians, who rule the seas, but are losing Sicily under the might of the Romani.

West of that, the Gauls are once again in civil war over some silly dispute.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...incivilwar.jpg
Finally, in Iberia, the Lusotannan amass their forces, assumingly in preparation to throw off Carthaginian rule.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ngupforwar.jpg
But there is a glimmer of peace for us with those Pontic dogs- our very skilled diplomat was able to get a treaty out of them, ending a bloodless war.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...eceasefire.jpg
Well, that is the world in the years 240-239. I, however, am finished with this world, and will tell no more. My son, Gudila per Drobeta, will continue it for me, as he will faithfully serve our Vasil with honor and courage.
The world is going dark for me… this is the end… farewell people of the Getai… I have seen our great confederation grow my millions of miles, and we have seen the downfall of our greatest enemy, the Makedonians.
But a word of warning- while we may be in triumph over them now, and they may be almost defeated, be cautious- do not trust those Hellenes in Athens, nor those elephant-riding Illyrians. Careful of those treacherous settlers of Nikaia, for they will stab any host country for their own benefit. They did it with Pontos, and they will do it again with us.
So be wary of everything, never take anything for granted! One battle, one defeat, can cost us everything we have worked so hard for in the past 33 years.
May you go from strength to strength, o mighty Getai, for this is the end of me…… good bye.....

A word from the author- no, this is not the end of the AAR – his son will continue it, don’t worry! I am going away for almost 2 weeks for Passover, and during that time, I will be playing EB v1.1 on my laptop and trying to reconstruct the events which have happened until now. If I succeed, I will continue my AAR there. If I cant manage to reconstruct the events over there to the best of my ability, I will still continue the AAR on my desktop. Wish me luck!
well good luck on that. Man you had me laughing with the conversation of the Lusitannan. Thanks for that and man what a great AAR!
Nice update. Good to see what's going on in the rest of the world.
It look's like Chirurgeon's Iberians are showing up in unexpected places.
Good luck with trying to recreate your campaign. I tried that once (for personal, not an AAR or anything), I tried to recreate about a dozen years of a campaign I was fond of after a release, but I couldn't do it. My advice would be to continue this campaign on v1.0 and when you get tired of it upgrade to v1.1 for the your next AAR. I don't think much changed for Getai in v1.1 anyways, other than a new Thracian regional.
I agree with MAA on this one. It just won't be the same.Quote:

Chapter 25: Coup D'état
Greetings, follower of the Getai! I am Dizion’s son- Gudila per Drobeta. This was my first year on the job, so in the upcoming battle, my Vasil put me in the back ranks, instead of with his bodyguards, and I was upset, but in the end, I was happy I was in the back and not the front- for now.
In the year 238, the last of the 3 original founders of our great nation died- Dizo per Rekidava.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...4/dizodies.jpg
Also, the Koinon Hellenon helped us out by defeating a large relief army that was headed in our direction, presumably to help relieve the garrison.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...hemeantime.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...emeantime2.jpg
Soon afterwards, our Vasil joined Koson per Drobeta, who was leading the army that was to take Demetrias. I don’t think Koson was too happy, and you will see why later.
Finally, in the summer of 237, the Makedonians sallied out in an attempt to break out, since they were running short of food and water.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...emyattacks.jpg
The battle began, and the enemy general charged our left flank, which wasn’t very strong.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...BGflanking.jpg
Seeing that the entire battle was in jeopardy from the large mass of enemy heavy cavalry, our Vasil himself, not waiting for allied cavalry to assist him, charged into the battle.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...countering.jpg
It was very hard fighting, from what I heard from the combatants, and our Vasil was plunged right into the middle of it.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ilincombat.jpg
The fighting soon got to be frantic, and in desperation, our Vasil called for Koson to help him. Koson refused.
Soon, everyone was cut off from one another, and our Vasil was mortally wounded by those Makedonian dogs, but not before taking many of them down before he was stabbed in the stomach and left for the dead. Even as the remainders of Zyraxes bodyguards were fighting, Koson came riding up to the mortally injured Zyraxes, and without saying a word, plunged his spear into Zyraxes mouth, killing him instantly. Thus, Zyraxes passed from this earth, and Koson became the new Vasil.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/.../vasildead.jpg
In a final push, the last few bodyguards pushed off the Makedonians, who fled, and the bodyguards stood and stared as they saw Koson kill their beloved leader.
In disgust, the entire entity of the bodyguard that had once belonged to Zyraxes, withdrew from the battlefield, no longer willing to help the traitor called Koson per Drobeta.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...retreating.jpg
As for me, I was shocked. Almost the entire left flank saw what happened and moral dropped drastically. No one wanted to fight, but our unit commanders realized we would all be slain if we didn't fight. So they rallied us, and called us back to fight for in the name of our deceased Vasil. As for Koson, he just pulled his entire bodyguard contingent to behind the lines, where I was. He wouldn’t give any commands until the very end of the battle. Everyone there was giving him dirty looks, as I was.
The unit commanders sent our horse archers to the front to rain hell on the enemy infantry as they were coming out of the gates.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...veringfire.jpg
Our heavy horsemen charged in, inflicting and sustaining heavy casualties.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...rsecombat1.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...rsecombat2.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...rsecombat3.jpg
Then the enemy began to regroup, as did we.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...eneuvering.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...neuvering2.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...regrouping.jpg
We also managed to surround another group of elites.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...surrounded.jpg
They began to huddle in one big group, and our Thraikians managed to get behind them, and the slaughter began.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...ansslicing.jpg
They began to retreat a bit.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...14/running.jpg
Soon, there weren’t many Makedonian forces left, just the enemy general and a unit of archers, which were soon finished with.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...y14/doomed.jpg
Finally, their enemy general was all alone… and soon in great peril.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...emygeneral.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...eraldead-7.jpg
The remaining enemy units were retreating into their town, and the day was for the most part won, but here Koson did something disgusting: he sent the most loyal unit to our former Vasil, a unit of Skythian Noble Heavy Cavalry, into the city to chase after the enemy- with no backup! They got burned alive! We watched the entire thing as they poured boiling oil on them as they entered, and as they were cutting down some enemies, Koson recalled them, and the enemy poured oil on them again as they came out! Only a few came out of it alive!
Most of us were sobbing as it was going on.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/.../burningup.jpg
It was all for naught, because no one would try to attack the gate again for fear of the oil, and none of the Makedonians were coming out! It was a stalemate.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...oorsclosed.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...emycowards.jpg
When the battle was over, and the city finally surrendered, we looked over the carnage. It was immense.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...4/carnage1.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...carnage2-1.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...carnage3-1.jpg
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...carnage4-1.jpg
And we lost many as well, including our beloved Vasil, which made the amount off casualties even greater. It's a good thing my father didn't live long enough to see this!
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...results-12.jpg
We killed every single person who was manning the gates for pouring oil on our men.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...14/revenge.jpg
With that, Koson per Drobeta became our new Vasil, and he promised a better, stronger, Getic Confederation, but we weren’t too sure about that, considering he forbade anyone to publicly mourn for Zyraxes, claiming that Zyraxes per Dokidava was born out of wedlock, which he wasn’t, and never deserved to be king in the first place.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...tionleader.jpg
He also chose his son as the heir, which was ok with us, because we all knew Tarsa is a wise and thoughtful person, unlike his father.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...14/newheir.jpg
With that, the most turbulent year was over. No one knew how much longer the Getai would remain a confederation with Koson in charge……
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...metriasnow.jpg
nice turn of events bro, keep them up:laugh4:
Me likey!...Though I wouldn't want to be a Getian with Koson ruling.
nope, not at all..... these are going to be dark days for the getai.....
Crazy dynastic in-fighting. Nice update...
Great stuff as usual. Love the little humorous bits you put in there. Like the guy running backwards. Nice touch with the boiling oil. LOL and how you called your horsemen fatties. Fat horsemen...hilarious.
well, i dropped my laptop on a wooden floor last night, and i dropped it on its corner on the hard drive side. when i turned it back on, it gave me an error screen. i called Dell tech support, and they said my hard drive is dead (the shock waves from the impact completely messed it up, but everything else is fine), but they are sending me a new one, which will arrive thursday-friday. im going to need to reinstall EB, as well as my other games.
but i am bringing RTW, as well as the installation file for EB 1.1 on my flash drive, so i think ill be able to play over passover. wish me luck!
You have the worst luck with computers of anyone i know...I hope you can get it all fixed. Now I guess this AAR is really dead.Quote:

I guess we can wait till you get back.
well, i fixed my laptop and i have formulated a brilliant plan of how to transfer my AAR over to v1.1, and with a twist....
stay tuned!

Chapter 26: A foreboding future
A week after Koson took power, he feigned a national emergency and suspended all civil liberties.
https://i199.photobucket.com/albums/...guy14/uhoh.jpg
he also turned our great confederacy into a dictatorship, only ruled by him, and he had full control of the military, which he used to his advantage.
most people thought this was ok, since he told us it was just temporary, but we were wrong.
he soon made them permanent, and is sending his secret police to arrest all opposition. i, Gudila per Drobeta, am fearful because i am one of them, even though i am only 16 years of age. i am hiding at a friends house as i write you this letter. any moment now, the police will open the door and arrest me for crimes against the regime.
i do not know when i will be able to write again, but i can tell you it will be a very long time.
they are coming through the door.
good bye.
