How will stuff like the English Civil War be handled, as it is impossible to cause stuff to happen at a particular year in MTW?

WAGONS

This is something which could be only called 'a moving fortress'. The wagons are slow and vulnerable to artillery, in addition it is useless vs. infantry, BUT it is almost invulnerable to cavalry, offers some cover ( hard to destroy with ranged weaponry other than artillery) and can shoot ( musket accuracy and firepower).
Why is it almost invul. vs. cavalry i.e. not absolutely ?


It requires a longer explanation. I have shown these war wagons to my friend who played MTW a little.
Last time he wanted to test them in combat, so I offered him an opportunity. I have watched this battle and noticed that he charged the wagons with Nogay Tatar ( very weak) cavalry. Of course I thought - 'their last mistake', but...
I couldn't believe my eyes, they had actually succeeded !
The wagons started fleeing and were cut to pieces by the swift Tatars.
Never underestimate crazy orders like this !

I imagine the wagons' crew:
- 'Janos ( they were Hungarians) these Tatars are going to charge us'
- 'They don't understand that we have +16 bonus to defence against them?'
- 'No, it seems they don't worry about it'
- 'Run away, these guys don't respect the rules !' ;)))

Most likely the wagons' crew panicked because of the charge and it was enough.

I've noticed that AI knows how to attack the wagonburg - no cavalry charges, only infantry attacks which break the formation opening the way for cavalry to finish off the defenders.
Unfortunatelly, the AI is not able to use all possible advantages of this unit when defending or attacking.

For the release I'm going to write a kind of guide for some units
( warwagons, Polish Winged Hussars, Tatars with arkans, regimental cannons maybe) to show some of their, less obvious, abilities

I have seen you mod. For Poland in late - Lithuania shouldn't be counted as a protectorate from 1492 anymore. Generally from the beginning of the union it was equal, but from 1492 there was a common parliament for both countries and it should be called Poland-Lithuania
( from 1569 it was the Commonwealth - a republic with elected king).

You are going to use RTW engine, that's good, so I am in the future
( maybe after MTW2), at least when I upgrade my old or buy a new PC.

The Swiss Guard:

The Captain Commander of the Swiss Guard should be called "Kommandanthauptmann" (if they use German for their ranks also).

I would really like to continue our work using RTW engine, but there are many questions about this.
Will RTW allow creating gunpowder weapons, how many religions will be possible to use, how many cultures ?
I have read much of RTW data ( about 2500 pages in word format), but I'm not sure yet.
Maybe we will have to wait for another year until MTW2 will be released.

For now I cannot even play in RTW, because my PC ( Duron 800, 128 RAM) is perfect for MTW or STW, but it is too weak for RTW.
I will have to upgrade in order to try this game. Buying a new PC is not my priority, but I'm aware of all new possibilities allowed by RTW engine, which are enormous indeed, so sooner or later we WILL HAVE THIS MOD done using RTW ENGINE.

We need to finish our work. I still need much info to end my part of work.

What I need.
1. Name list for Cossacks ( the rest is OK, not perfect, but enough);
2. Heroes lists - you can post just some of them, the maximum number is 30 for every faction - Poland is finished completely.
3. Descriptions - Poland, Russia, Tatars, Cossacks are finished or will be soon ( tomorrow ).
I will write many more, at this moment I have written about 50 + 20-30 were prepared by someone else.

A long time has passed since i stoped posting on this board. But still i have been following the mod's development. I think it is time for me to intervein :P.

About that Portuguese unit, "Arcabuzeiros a Camelo de Goa" i must say that it doesnt sound well in Portuguese. It has to do witht he sintax, it should be "Arcabuzeiros de Goa a Camelo", or just "Arcabuzeiros de Goa". It would sound more simple and would fit better in the game.
This unit should take quite some time to be produced, since they come from India. The ideia is that they were serving at Goa, and now are sent back to serve in Europe. The voyage from Portugal to India took at least 2 years and half :p.

This are just suggestions...

You still need the office titles, the heroes and the King's Portraits isnt it? I haven't got much time at this moment, but i'll try to provide you with this info soon...

I really liked the screens with the Portuguese flag, :p

Good suggestions Count, tHe dEmEnToR I will implement them ( it's easy to do it).

For the office titles I have only three Portuguese - provided by you earlier :

and I need additional 7 ( oversea areas' governors included) - I want to have about 10 for each faction if possible.

For heroes I need up to 30 such men - admirals, conquistadors will be generals in this mod.

I have read your post in BKB thread about french names, let me know what you need and can try to do some work. As it's not my favotie period of french history, i am not promising but i will try

My opinion is that if you started the mod in the MTW engine then you should finish. Some bifs are already done. For RTW you would require a 3d Modeler to put those bifs in the game. And still you're not enough familiar with that new engine. (I don't mean just you, i mean the whole RTW comunity)

After you finish this, then, yes you should start thinking about porting it to RTW.

You already know all this and you aren't really planing on making this mod a RTW mod so i better shut up and take some sleep to try and deliver the info i promised tomorrow, since tormorrow there's no school for me. ~:cheers:

Hungarian offices:

The Hungarian King was called Király. The Magyar word király is derived from the Slavic word kral or kralj, which in turn is derived from the German name of Charlemagne. A reigning queen was called királyno, a queen consort was called királyné in Hungarian.

Nádorispán (or Nádor)

I like your 'concept' art and the idea of a rtw version, but i think we've done that much work on the mtw mod and i don't like the idea to have wasted my time.
It's still not proofed that we could mod firearms in rtw, but if it's possible...
Caracole would be great, imagine Reiters attacking in that style or spanish arquebusiers that move forward while constantly firing.
I'd suggest that you create a modding thread in the rtw section of the dungeon for a follow up version of this mod. But from my experiences with this mod i'd also suggest to organise the work a little bit better (stricter) than we did ~;) .

@Robert:
Good idea for the panel. A little bit too red ~:cool: for my taste but we can use it as a starting point.

@Count, tHe dEmEnToR:
Offices and heroes for Portugal are most important i guess, portraits have been made already, we'll see later whether some are missing.

I have finally found a book describing Zaporozhian Cossacks - almost everything about them, except one thing, NAMES are in Polish and we need Ukrainian ones.

Here are their office titles:

My friends, here i present you the final list of Portuguese office titles... :charge: I made a few corrections on the old titles such as Emperor of Brazil which was wrong, since that title only appeared in the 18th century.

Contestável de Portugal - The 2nd most important man after the king. The ruler of the Portuguese Army when the king was away.

Chanceler-Mor - He was the keeper pf the royal seal and also responsable for all the royal documents.

Vice-rei do Brasil - The vice-roy of Brazil.

Almirante-Mor - The High Admiral of the Portuguese Naval Forces.

Contador-Mor - The High Counter. An important accountant of the king. The same as a minister of the finances.

Vice-Rei da índia - The Vice-roy of India. The title was commonly given together with "Governador da India" (Governor of India).

Escrivão da Puridade - An important secretary of the king. The translation is something like Purity Notary ( :p). This title temporary disapeared with the death of D. Sebastião. It later reappered with D. Afonso VI. With the portuguese independence this title gained more imporatance. Initially he was responsible by all the king's secret bussiness. Afterwards it became a administrator of all the countrie's bussiness. Don't forget that this title didn't exist during the Filipine period (spanish rulers).

Alféres-Mor do Reino - Alféres was a military rank, the same as the 2nd lieautnet in the Portuguese Army. He was also responsible for carrying and protecting the standart of his lord. The Alféres-mor do Reino was the one who protected and carried the King's Standart. A very important military title.
