Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
I will keep the questions to a yes/no format. if I ask any questions that is.
I have an idea for Canada's special ability. Perhaps the ability to industrialize its country by learning to properly use its natural resource? a reform system.... (not really the most historical I know)
Portugal could definitely have some kind of benefit if it is an alliance with GB
Italy..... well, it has the heart of Christianity just sitting in its midst. but thats a separate state..... :sweatdrop: during the 80's Italy was going through the year of Lead (or whatever its called), so I cant think of any beneficial attributes.
I honesty have nothing.....

Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
My keyboard seems to have calmed down for now and I took the time to finish the bare minimum of canada's role pm. It still produces u's when I press backspace though.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
If Canada has any ability's.....it should go to Peace Keeping....or the fact that it has a huge trading partner by default with USA....other then that....I got nothing:shrug: (I need to admit:shame:...Militarily, they have very little to offer....:juggle2:) I only heard from my Class it's only importance is in it's Diplomatic Power...maybe that could be it's power....who knows??:book:

Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Its pretty laughable that Portugal would get some bonus for fighting alongside Britain. The Portuguese military was far from having any kind of bond with the British military, or any special incentive that only Britain would give. I shall look over my files tomorrow as I'm exhausted (Noted that between the point of my last post, where I was already exhausted, to this post, I have only slept 3 hours).
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
well, we are without any better ideas :sweatdrop::sweatdrop: I really don't know that much about Portugal, so...... yeah..... we are just trying to find something that can actually be transported into the game.....
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
The other problem with a portugeise bond with britain is that they are player countries and as such will only be restricted by such things as old familliarity by choice.
Ah sod t-his ble9e9ding ke9=yboa0rd

Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Portugal should get a bonus to naval stuff and sea trade.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
In the 1600's maybe but I doubt they are still in such standard.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Bah, toss the poor guys a bone.
Portugal is an awesome nation. You don't have to be 100% historically accurate. Maybe if they are part of NATO they get a defensive bonus and also their citizens are less likely to go against any NATO policy.
I dunno give them something to work with. I'm not going to whine if the game is slightly unbalanced.

In most diplomatic games, balance is almost entirely determined by intelligence and charisma of the players.

Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
I agree with Pizza, lets throw Portugal a bone
(what about adding a Naval stat to the military stats and letting Portugal have an ability that decreases enemy navies stats)
then again, lets wait till jolt comes back, maybe he will find something interesting.
Really I know very little about the cold war in general, never found the time period my cup of tea.

Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Historically, Portugal and India had a rather strained relationship (Seizing Goa and all), but that was 20 years earlier. That's all I got.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Well I can't find my uber book which would be the best source for this game. :(
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Quick note: This is the longest sign up thread I've ever seen.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
That battle royale was longer.

Normal mafia games don't have to make the rules up before starting and dont have role PMs that would seem cramped on an a4 page.
By the way I've allready said it but I've left italy and portugal to YLC and I'm going to have to wing indonesia's PM.

Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
I was just wondering.....what is our objective? I mean....if it was Turkey in the 1980's....it might be "Avoid being taken over by the Soviet Union"....or something like that...:juggle2:
But if it is total war style....it would be something along the lines of..."Remake the Ottoman Empire":book:....I honestly doubt I could do that though....:juggle2:
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
I think the objective is something like Dont let the world turn into a smoldering pile of nuclear waste! :laugh4::laugh4:
or if it does then at least come out of it with your piece of land not nuked......
(both are almost impossible of course!)

On Rise of Nations "Cold war scenario" VH I managed to beat the USSR in a nuke battle....:juggle2: (but America might have been wiped out and Russia was a bunch of feudal states, due to the nukes hitting them...:inquisitive:)
Edit: I also managed to get China on my side....think I made it so that they revolted...violently....with machine guns....not "Peace speeches" China was my only country....still in one piece....kinda funny....I had to fight to get back most of America...

:juggle2: I dont actually know when I will draw the line and end the game with a clear winner(the only definite end game will be a two-way nuke volley) but apart from the main nato and warsaw members, who generally should try to out-last the other alliance, you can pretty do whatever you want that you can think of your country doing during the 80's.

Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Somalia now supports bunny rabbits. Why not?
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
I hate to ask....but what would Turkey be trying to do in the 1980's??? other then the desecration of Israel..:smash:
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
There aren't any rabbits in somalia?
@White eyes: I dunno, use your imagination? Hey if you don't want to play turkey I desperately need a russia anyway.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Just a reminder: russia is going to need a new player so its up for grabs.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Well, seeing as you put so much effort into this game, it would be a shame to let the important player in this time period go unmanned.
In~
Just a warning, my school term is starting again. Hopefully the game can "end" or something within 3 months cause I have final year then.
With luck, Nato won't screw me. :sweatdrop:
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Ok then I dont know if it will end in 3 months or not but welcome all the same.
Sending PM.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Okay, this may start to get on Grey's nerves but...I need to back out from playing the US. I'm going to be joining KotF, and I need to concentrate on real life matters as well as finish and polish my large game.
I simply do not have the time, but I will help consolidate the rules so Greyblades can handle all aspects of them.
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
This is not going well... Do you think you could stick around as co-host/question answer-er untill I'm ready to start the game?
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
when bad news rains, it pours...... :sweatdrop:
-
Re: Cold War Cataclysm. Sign up thread
Well I have some good news; I've finished the portugal and Italy role PM's.
I gotta pick up pace before anyone else jumps ship. Oh and YLC? Before you go could you please put your part in that rule book thing I sent you yesterday.
